Review titled There when you need them
Rated 5 stars out of 5

I recently had some very concerning symptoms, my GP referred me very quickly for further tests. I was treated in a caring and sensitive manner. This was both by my doctor and the reception staff.

Review titled Good first experiences
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Tracy Langton - Posted on 28 July 2023
Although it’s difficult to get through on the phone pretty much the same for all GPs in the current climate where their workloads have increased massively , there are other options to book appointments or leave messages . Our experience so far has been good . Reception Staff have been really helpful in registering the family and we’ve had no problem at all securing an appointment .

Review titled Good surgery
Rated 4 stars out of 5

GPs, nurses and receptionists are all very good. Unlike some surgeries, you can usually get same day appointments. With the health service under increasing pressure, I think they do the best they can for their patients.

Dear Mr Breban, it is very refreshing and very much appreciated that you took the time to provide some much needed praise for our staff. You are indeed correct in that the increasing demand and transfer of workload from secondary care is having a massive impact on the pressures within general practice. We continually review our processes and booking procedures to provide the best possible appointment opportunities. We have recently installed an 'automated booking service' to alleviate some of the waiting times and hope this will improve the telephone delays we incur during busy periods. Many thanks once again on behalf of all our staff. Mrs J Sunderland (Practice Manager )

Review titled Extremely poor service
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Anne Bishop - Posted on 23 January 2023
Called all day to be finally answered at 14.10. Told now no appointments or telephone consultations available, and to ring back tomorrow! We cant get through!!! Unhelpful staff who told an 86 year old to go on the app!!. Remember not everyone particularly the elderly are computer literate. Really unhelpful when a serious medication error has been made.

Dear Ms Bishop I am very sorry and disappointed to hear of your experience. We have made conscious efforts to increase the the number of staff available to answer the telephones at peak times. Indeed we monitor the volume of calls regularly as we are providing our Local Medical Committee with call numbers to support their campaign to expose the severe demand on general practice. The practice received 369 calls on Monday 23rd Jan alone. We do ask that patients bear with us during this unprecedented demand and be assured we are doing our very best at all times. Im happy to discuss individual complaints directly should anyone wish to do so, please just ask for the practice manager. Thank you.

Review titled Very poor
by eaterwg38 - Posted on 24 April 2023
I've found the reception staff to be as reviewed by others - rude and can't wait to get you off the telephone, they feel like gatekeepers blocking you from getting an appointment. I feel the doctors here aren't listening either, if you have complex issues that need investigating over time, it seems as though they just want to shove pills at you rather than get to the root cause of the issues and resolve these. Instead they give tablets to make to issues go away, but I don't feel that tablets are the answer, they have side effects etc.... It's best to find the issue. Not so happy at all. Having to go back and back and back again to force them to take complex issues seriously isn't the way it should be, it's wasting appointments that others could take - if others are getting the same issues no wonder Dr's are busy! In my experience, the previous Dr's at this surgery actually listened and wanted to understand issues to resolve them.

Dear patient, we do thank you for your feedback and apologise that your experience has not been a positive or productive one. The staff here pride themselves on being welcoming, approachable and as helpful as is possible within the constraints of the ever increasing demand for general practice appointments. They have a very difficult job, whilst not being medically trained, in trying to prioritise the more urgent cases needed to be seen each day and I understand that can feel frustrating for patients given that there is only so many appointments to go around. regretfully as with the number of appointments available there is only a limited amount of time we can allocate to each appointment without it having significant impact on availability and we ask that patients recognise this is and accept general practice under immense pressure. Equally, secondary care (hospital) is buckling under the increased demand and yes as gatekeepers to the hospital we have to consider carefully the appropriate referrals needed for further investigation. If you would like to discuss this further with a GP to gain a better understanding of the pathways / alternative clinicians and processes we follow we would be happy to arrange this. Please call and ask to speak to me the Practice manager.

Review titled Extremely rude and dismissive reception staff
Rated 2 stars out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 02 December 2022
I’ve had no issues with the doctors and the nurses are particularly helpful, however, the reception staff are utterly dreadful. Rude and dismissive, and you always feel like everything is a little bit too much for them. I’ve previously asked for help or advice and I’ve been cut off before even finishing my sentence. Rude. Rude. Rude. Completely unacceptable. Some patients will be going through some of the toughest times and they should at least be spoken to like their concerns are legitimate and with dignity.

Dear patient, I am very sorry and extremely disappointed to hear of your experience when visiting our practice. As a practice we are proud of our reputation as a caring and considerate team reflected by the extremely positive responses to the anonymous national GP survey . Rest assured we will indeed discuss this in our next practice meeting to ensure everyone receives the same standard of courtesy. If you would like to contact me or supply your name to speak with me directly, I would be happy to do so. Thank you for your feedback it is always welcome to help us improve our services.
