Review titled Great service from practice
Rated 5 stars out of 5

Have been referred to the musculoskeletal practitioner at the surgery twice this year, and have been able to get an appointment quickly and received excellent advice/treatment, I would also add that the reception staff were friendly and helpful.

Review titled Good overall
Rated 4 stars out of 5
by Jo Medd - Posted on 04 April 2024
I have had cause to visit the doctors on a number of occasions recently unfortunately. The ask my gp app is great and they respond really quickly. The doctors i have seen recently, today particularly, have been very good as is one of the nurse practitioners. I don't know if there has been a change in reception staff but I do find a couple of the in particular rather patronising and rude. I suffer with health anxiety so this didn't help me. There are a couple of great reception staff who have been there years. Maybe the new ones need some training. I also had a not so good experience with a nurse over the phone who had never actually met me but was reluctant to provide a sick note and was quite firm on the phone. I understand some people want to be off work but that's not the case for me, I wouldn't be off if I felt I could work. I understand what she was doing, and I partially agreed but I'm now struggling and am reluctant to ask for another note. Good practice overall.

Review titled Ask my GP app
by Dr noHubbard1969 - Posted on 17 July 2023
How can 21st century GP appointments be so fraught with problems? I get up at 7:00am or so just to try make an appointment and it's closed. I get a questionnaire from the GP, but it's 15 questions long and I follow the link and it's not there. I feel the the receptionists are way above there station and not at all helpful when I want a gp appt . I go on the app after 20 mins of constantly being engaged - it could be hrs on a Monday - and am told I have to go on the ask my gp app and request an appointment. I put phone down only to find the quota for day is full and not taking anymore requests for day. Feeling slightly miffed, as you would be, I ring back and after another 20 mins or hours to speak to the receptionist who also now appears annoyed at my annoyed tone. So,next morning, I try again and so it continues. We don't ring GP's for a "How's your day" chat, it's normally due to being unwell, in pain etc. When you do get through there are no appointments or advice to go to a&e which normally involves all day sitting there. This was the case twice due to osteoarthritis in my neck and trapped nerves, causing excruciating pain and 7 hrs in A&E waiting for pain medication. I've spent 3 weeks in bed since Xmas,5 days or so at a time wishing I was dead in bed rather than sitting in A&E for hours, writhing around in agony where no position is even slightly comfortable. This is due to the GP insisting I cannot see a doctor due to there being no appts for the day. I'm in my fifties and quite good on Internet but "Ask my Gp" is beyond me unless it's a simple repeat prescription. I'm almost scared to ring due to the here we go again attitude from the receptionists.

Review titled Very Disappointing
Rated 1 star out of 5

This practice is just not fit for purpose. Having been in agony for 5 days with ear and neck pain I tried their 'online' booking system but kept being locked out so I arrived in person at the surgery when they opened the door at 8am this morning....receptionist not at all helpful, in fact quite rude. Apparently I still had to fill in the 10+ page questionnaire online before any appointment could be made. When she looked online apparently there were 101 other patients that were in front of me so the chances of getting an appointment anytime soon were zero. What happened to the days when you just rang up and booked an appointment? Fortunately I rarely have the need to see a doctor (never have seen one since we moved to Grantham 3 years ago). I Ieft the surgery and in desperation drove to Grantham A&E who were excellent, got seen and prescribed antibiotics for a nasty ear infection, within 1 hour. I've nothing but praise for the hospital and its staff, shame the same can't be said for this practice.

I am extremely sorry to hear that you were not satisfied with the service you have received from the Practice. We value patient feedback and its importance for improving the service we provide. I am sorry you feel the receptionist was unhelpful but was following Practice protocol in advising you to submit your request online. You advised that the system was not working, and the reception confirmed to you it was as we had received several requests already that morning. You then left the reception without giving her a chance to offer to submit the request on your behalf, which we do for many patients who are unable to submit online themselves. The receptionist was unable to book you an appointment at that time as daily requests are triaged by a duty clinician to ensure that problems are managed according to their urgency. If you would like the opportunity to discuss this further, please contact myself at the Practice Kind regards Julie Knight Practice Manager

Review titled An absolute shambles
Rated 1 star out of 5

Everytime I have been for an appointment there has been an issue. Today the digital check in wasn't working, reception did not even seem interested when it was pointed out to them. I had booked an appointment through the joke online system only to realise when I was in with the doctor that I had actually been booked in as another patient! Not even an apology, the other patients records were on full display for me to read!!! I was asked to book a follow up appointment and when I asked about this at reception I was told it had to be done through the website! Why?? Of course when I got home this option was disabled online as it's only available for four hours in the morning. This surgery appears to have a revolving door for the medical staff and the reception is pointless when it comes to face to face contact with the patients. In all my life I have never known such a mess of a surgery!

Dear Patient, we are very sorry you are unhappy with your experience at the Practice. I have investigated your concerns and unfortunately the receptionist booked your appointment incorrectly which was why you were unable to check in using the digital system. Patients sometimes struggle with the digital system so receptionists can arrive patients manually. The receptionist you spoke to misheard your name, which was very similar to the name booked, and manually updated the appointment on the system to show that you had arrived. The GP opened the records of the appointment and did not realise it was the wrong patient until you were in the room. We have looked at the layout of the room and have changed this so that the computer screen is not visible to the patients unless shown by the clinician. The receptionist was following Practice policy in advising you to add your request to the online system for your review appointment. Again I apologise for the error. If you wish to discuss your comments further, please do not hesitate to contact me at the Practice. Kind regards Julie Knight Practice Manager
