Review titled Need to employ some receptionists
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Bekki - Posted on 23 July 2024
I can never get anyone on the phone! I’m on hold for up to 45 minutes at a time, regardless of the day or time! I end up giving up and putting the phone down. I keep getting messages saying I can no longer get my prescription until I get a review, but how can I when no one answers the phone. This applies to not only myself but my 18 month old son who had a medical history and has to been seen quickly at times; I worry I won’t be able to get appointments for him.

Dear Bekki, I am sorry you are having difficulties with our phone system and agree we do handle a large level of calls. We have recently made improvements with a call back option to save you continually re-dialling and also we have added appointments on line via our website and the NHS App if you would like to sign up to this, so you can avoid the phone. Kind regards, J Goldsworthy Practice manager,

Review titled Poor Service

Having waited 20 minutes on the phone to make an appointment, was told I should leave the form for a private referral at reception and pay £60. I did this, explained it was for suspected cancer (Private GP) and not an insurance claim from a travel policy. I was told it would take 28 days, it took me 2 minutes to complete the form and the GP section was no longer. Just before 2 weeks I chased through the NHS App (in a message) and was told this would be referred to the GP urgently. Almost one week from then I am still waiting. I would not need to pay privately if the service was adequate. I would have been quicker to make a GP appointment and be referred through the NHS. It appears that this is a policy they have in place, so I am told. NHS is (was) 2 weeks for urgent cancer referrals and Cancer Research states 28 days to know if you have cancer or not, not 28 days to wait for a form before any testing can take place.

Dear anonymous patient. I am sorry for your recent treatment received and misunderstanding with our forms process. Firstly I would like to say to you and any other patient, please if you suspect or have any concerns of cancer please stay on the phone and request an appointment with our GP team we will always see you. promptly and if the GP agrees with your concerns then your referral will be processed on our two weeks wait service. If you feel you prefer to see a private doctor then that Dr should not be asking us for a letter for them to see you first as this adds an unnecessary delay to the service, to ask another doctor to consider if the referral is appropriate. Any private letters we are requested to do have investigation work behind them and have to be charged within the charges related to the private services (not NHS and should not be required) so are priced to discourage. I am sorry on this occasion you thought it was better to chose the private option with the delays and letters your private doctor insisted on and would be grateful if you would consider removing this review or discussing your concerns with us directly. J Goldsworthy Practice Manager.

Review titled Disappointing Service
Rated 1 star out of 5

Over the last couple of months I been left feeling disappointed. If it was just one incident I would not be writing this. I called end of May to have my coil change to be told this is only done at their clinic and they don't know when the next one will be but I'd be put on the waiting list. Chase a couple of times to be told no date available yet. After 6 weeks I called again to be told I was not on the waiting list, I will be added but no date set for the next clinic. When asked why they don't have fixed dates I was told it they wait for enough people to be on the waiting list before a clinic date is booked. Also told at the time as I've only just been added to the list I might not be able to get into the next clinic due to the number already on the list. After the initial enquiry in May I now have an appointment booked for Aug. Today I have called to get an appointment to have a cut that has not healed properly after a month and 1 course of antibiotics. I called at bang on 8am to hear the answerphone message from yesterday. Called 1 min later, I was on hold for 10 mins. When the called was answered we discussed why I wanted to see someone to be told there are no appointments for today. When questioned told this is due to staffing issues. You have arranged an out of hours appointment tomorrow but this is at a different practice. Lastly I am due to have yearly blood tests to check on liver function due to the medication I take. Over the years I believe it's been done twice by the practice. I've not mentioned historically as the specialist has done them but I know the specialist has written back in earlier 2022 to instruct you to carry out these tests but I have had to prompt you to arrange. The has left me feeling like I am not patient and just a problem.

Dear patient, I would like to assist with your issues but am unable to whilst you remain anonymous, if you would like to contact me we would be happy to assist. In general we offer a coil service usually at least once per month or as often as we have patients who need this service to make sure setting up and removing a Dr is worth it, I trust you are now booked in but please contact us if not. For all bookings we will signpost patients to the best service to meet their needs, you indicate you may have needed a dressing or minor injury appointment and with no ANP to offer for the practice I understand our reception team directed you to an appointment tomorrow at our own Extended access service, which whilst we are part of and our staff also work is based only at another local surgery, so we are offering you the same care within 48 hours. With regard to liver tests I would need to know more details as usually a test needs to be ordered by the specialists in order for the results to go back to the specialists to interpret, but if you again contact us we will of course look into. It is disappointing to see that you will give the practice such a low review without contacting us first to allow us to look into your issues and explain the limitations when our practice is going over and above others to offer additional services such as coil clinics. Kind regards, J Goldsworthy Practice manager

Dear Richard, I apologise that our closed for training dates were not on our website, this was overlooked and all dates we know of up until June 2023 have since been added. I am struggling to find anywhere an email is mentioned as we do not offer this option as it would be unsafe for a patient to urgently email us with an issue where we are unable to offer them emergency health care. We do however have the option of on line access which will ask patients lots of details about their presenting condition and will suggest A&E or other options if this is something that can not wait until the next available GP appointment. I have been through the website but if you feel there is anything on there that is still misleading, please do not hesitate to contract me. Kind regards, J Goldsworthy Practice manager

Review titled refferal

I had a doctors appointment at the end of March. The doctor was very nice and seemed willing to help. The doctor said she would do a referral to hospital for me to see a consultant. As of last Friday, 3 weeks later, the referral still had not been done. This is very disappointing and I can't think what the hold up could be. My husband went to the surgery last Friday and spoke to the Office supervisor who said she would bring this matter to the Doctors attention. I hope this matter will now be sorted out very quickly. In future I would prefer not to see that particular doctor again.

Good afternoon Christine, I apologise you feel your referral was not completed as soon as you would have liked. Our team would need further details and your full names to allow us to investigate further and the name of the doctor who you wish to not see again. We would not want you to add confidential details to this website so would ask you to please contact us directly to resolve your issues. Kind regards, J Goldsworthy Practice manager

Review titled Excellent gp surgery
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Dan - Posted on 18 February 2023
Helpful staff all round. Always able to get an appt weather it over the phone or-face to face. Whether it be on the day or further down the line if not needed on the day. My recent experience with the gp was fantastic, I attended for one health problem which was rectified and then thoroughly supported with an ongoing health issue that the gp really went above and beyond to help me with. I feel very supported by my local surgery and wouldn’t want family going anywhere else.

Review titled Shocking referral system
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Lucy - Posted on 12 December 2022
I am shocked to find that Station View will not provide me with a private referral letter unless I pay £50! This is not acceptable! Surely I am doing the NHS a favour by privately funding my treatment as it is! Will be looking to move practices.

Dear Lucy, I'm sorry that you feel that any letter produced by our practice team should be provided free. To be fair to all our patients we try and discourage letters to external providers for any reason as we do not have the time to produce these letters and we would prefer to use our doctors time more effectively. Any patients that wishes to get private treatment should discuss their condition with their chosen private health care provider and a letter can almost always be avoided, and in the cases that the private provider does insist on a letter, this is usually funded from private health care insurance. It is disappointing that you rate us so low due to the demands that may be from your private healthcare provider, and not your GP. Unfortunately as with any professional organisation our GPs need to charge for any letters produced despite actively discouraging the production, to enable us to concentrate our needs on seeing all of our patients. Kind regards, J Goldsworthy Practice Manager.
