  1. Review titled Severe abscess

Rated 1 star out of 5

Unfortunately I have been suffering with a severe abscess as I found out yesterday at the miriam centre who I must say st Catherine’s could learn a lot from the staff are amazing they treat you with respect and dignity and I must say if I was not for them I could of ended up with sepsis, so I had to fill in a form on patches saying my symptoms I sent photoes of my ear to them and a woman said I needed to go to a walk in centre, I new I had a serious infection due to temp pain radiating from my ear to down my neck so I rang the doctors I was told by a receptionist that I could not see a doctor, I sat in walk in centre with in absolute agony for 3 hours to be told I had a serious in fection and I needed antibiotics for 7 days and then maybe a operation, I had infection spreading from down my ear and face, and I was told a doctor should of seen me, I have worked all my life and I have nearly completed my nursing and I feel I have been treated disgusting, there was 5 people at least in miriam who where upset about the service they recieved from st Catherine’s it needs investigation, people are seriously put in dangerous situation, but I must say miriam centre treat patients with respect and make you feel welcom, staff there are a credit l, they manage to run walk in centreand doctors, no problem and they are very busy

Thank you for your feedback. As you may appreciate, demand for GP services is increasing year on year and the NHS has invested in training to navigate patients to the most appropriate clinician or service, at the most appropriate time to ensure NHS services are used appropriately. This includes services outside of the Practice such as the Walk-In-Centre, and this then means GPs within the Practice can see those patients with the most complex needs. Community Services such as walk in centres are commissioned to assess and treat minor illnesses and symptoms such as the ones you described. More information on their advertised services can be found at this link. https://www.wchc.nhs.uk/services/minor-injuries/ Regards, Janine Clarke Patient services Manager

So I Have tried a few different times for appointment for my children which resulted in two off then ending up in a&e due to being refused to be seen then myself today I requested appointment as I am unwell to be told go the walk in. I struggle with bad mental health an have 4 young children so isn't easy to get to a walk in so would have preferred to be seen in my own practice this is absolutely shocking I will be moving myself an children as all they ever say is go walk in yet when on there rare occasion you do get appointment it's empty. Absolutely shocking doctors

  3. Review titled General practice

Shocking practice like others have said no point being registered with a GP, told to attend the GP out of hours, waiting for hours when extremely unwell is totaly unacceptable. would like to say the staff were fabulous at the out of hours, I don't want a response of care navigators , I would like to know what GPs actually see patients with!!! To save time attempting to get an appointment! Would be no stars but no option

  4. Review titled Great practice

Rated 5 stars out of 5

    by Michael B - Posted on 09 September 2023

I have been a patient at this practice for well over 20yrs. Through out that time I have given them some complex medical situations to deal with. Which they have done amazingly. I have never felt judged by any member of staff from receptionist to GPs. The regular GPs and nurses I see know me by name and always say hi even if it’s not them i’m seeing that day, they are welcoming and personable. My medication is reviewed when it should be, they ring with any results I need to know about. They schedule apts if a GP has requested to see me. If I have to cancel they are always accomodating. I feel 110% confident in them and their abilities. I can’t thank them enough for the respect they have shown me through the years. For those complaining of not being able to get through or get an apt have to realise these are crazy uncertain times we are living in at present. With the NHS bearing the brunt of the worst of these unpredictable incidents. None of them are purposely being obstructive, they do the best they can with the resources they have. Cut them some slack.

I was refused a GP appointment and referred to walk in centre for over 3 months for ongoing ear and throat pain. It ended up with me being diagnosed with throat cancer.

  6. Review titled Awful Practice

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 24 January 2023

Extremely pointless being registered with a GP practice that you can't see a GP in. Every time I call for either myself or my son we are directed to the walk-in centre. My son being 5 with health issues and was directed to walk-in-centre or 111. Both 111 and walk-in centre not happy that we are not being seen by our own GP! Awful practice, poinless being registered with them.

Thank you for your review. Demand for GP services is increasing exponentially and, to alleviate the pressure on GP appointments, the NHS has invested in care navigation, to ensure patients are seen by the most appropriate clinician or service, at the most appropriate time, based on clinical need, thereby ensuring NHS services are used appropriately. The practice follows care navigation protocols, including navigating to patients to services outside the Practice such as Walk-In-Centres and Pharmacies, ensuring GPs can focus on those patients with the most complex clinical need. If you would like the practice to look in to a particular problem that you have had, please send details directly to the practice via email so that a response can be provided.
