    I don't know what has happened to this once great GP surgery when once upon a time you could quickly get through to an actual person and ask your question or make an appointment, your appointment was usually within 48 hours of your phone call, but now you are lucky to get through on the phone within an hour, you are in a queue, it took my 40 minutes of hanging on to the phone listening to awful music and repeatedly a voice says if you are having chest pains or having difficulty breathing to dial 999 by the time I got to speak to an actual person (I was caller number one for a further 19 minutes?) I was so stressed out and almost to the point of having difficulty breathing! Then to be told that I can't even get a telephone appointment for 2 weeks is absolutely appalling! I repeat, what has happened to this once great GP surgery?

    Dear patient, Thank you for leaving feedback. I'm sorry that you had to wait a long time on the phone. We are encouraging our registered patients to use our website www.springfieldsurgery.com to request appointments rather than phoning, and you will have heard that on the telephone message. This is available between 6.30am-6.30pm Monday to Friday. You can also leave messages for us rather than waiting on the phone. This might be a good option in future. I'm sorry that you were told that you can't get even a telephone appointment for 2 weeks since that is not our policy. Our reception team do not give appointments directly but ask you to complete a consultation request or assist you with this if you don't have internet access or can't write English. All requests for a GP appointment are triaged by an experienced GP and the majority of those who request appointments will be offered an appointment by phone within 48 hours but if we consider your request not urgent; we are currently offering routine appointments within 3 weeks. There is lots of information on our website about our approach to appointments. We will check with our reception team that they are clear about the appointment policy.     I have been a patient at Springfield Practice for over 20 years and I have a named doctor who knows me and my health. The doctors and nurses are a credit to their profession, I feel listened to and cared for.

    I have been with Springfield surgery for 8yrs, and have seen some staff come and go, but the care and support I have received, has never changed. I had bad experiences with a previous surgery from my original home town, and was apprehensive when I moved to Birmingham and needed to register, but wow, I have been so pleasantly surprised. From counselling, nurses, receptionists and the doctors, everyone is lovely to interact with. The online services available are such a god send, and follow ups are prompt. This practice and its staff deserve to be celebrated. Thank you for your continued care.
