Impossible to get a GP appointment within the current system. Non urgent request after 10.30, so again I called after 10.30 and requested a call back. This was around 4 hours later and again all appointments had gone. It really needs a complete rethink. It’s just not working and the system needs to change. It feels like patients come last yet the GPs are excellent if you can get to see or speak to to them..

It is literally impossible to be able to book an appointment. They have no working method to book one, as their e-consult service always says ‘not taking appointments at this time’, even if you go on at exactly the right time every day. You’re not able to book an appointment over the phone, even if you phone at exactly the right time every day, nor on email (as they do not accept these for appointments). The e-consult service should be functioning 24 hours a day, or at the very least, during surgery hours. It should log your need for an appointment and put you into a queuing system. You could easily add an ‘urgency level’ for the appointment that the patient specifies. The surgery should then allocate appointments accordingly - even if the patient has to wait for 2 - 3 weeks for less urgent appointments, this is ok. This is normal. But to not be able to book is unacceptable. Before Covid this was a regular functioning surgery. Three years on from lock-down and they’re still running things in this completely unacceptable way. It’s unviable and impermissible for our community - and we’ve had to spend literally thousands on other private clinics as a family because we can’t get an appointment with our own practice. Please, please resolve this terrible issue. We have made multiple complaints over the years, and my dear mother died directly as a result of not being able to get an appointment here. Sadly we are unable to trust you, as you have let us down more times than we can even remember. Please get this basic system in place so we can all start functioning again as a community.

On the advice of the surgery I have consistently rung at 10.30am every day this week to make an appointment and each day there are none available (not even any in the future!) I was told to complete an e-consult but these are also not being accepted. There is no route to make an appointment with my doctor. Any suggestions? Absolutely appalling.

All seemed fine a couple of years ago and generally very helpful and responsive. However recently this has changed. It is now next to impossible to get a GP appointment however hard you try. I recently managed to complete an eConsult (after many days of trying) and did at least get a response but this to me was less than helpful and did not address the problem. Sadly not good at all and leaving me as a patient in the situation of whether I have no choice but to for a private appointment elsewhere.

On 29/01/2024 I came to the surgery to book an appointment to discuss test results. The receptionist said"they are normal,no further action required",I said I would still like to speak to a doctor which I did on31/01/24,he informed me that I need further tests. I have been with this practice for sixty nine years and I have never known it so bad. If you have any personal issues you have to discuss them with the receptionist,they are not bound by the same privacy rules as doctors.

I’ve been a patient with Southbourne Surgery for the last 30 years. I just wanted to say a big thankyou to the receptionists on how they have been with myself and my family. I believe there are some new receptionists there and I just feel so much better with how I’m treated. Their approach to my family and other patients (feedback) is really positive and just want them all to be appreciated for it. Also thankyou to my gp’s as well.
