Review titled Jeopardy to your physical and mental health
by Ewa - Posted on 19 October 2024
I would like to express my concerns regarding my recent experience with the healthcare system, which has been profoundly challenging. Upon joining the GP, I was asked to provide details regarding my current medications and their reorder timelines. When it became necessary to request a repeat prescription, I diligently followed the prescribed process and was informed that it would take 2-3 days for processing. However, after three days without confirmation, I reached out to the pharmacy for clarification, only to learn that the doctor had not yet reviewed my prescription. After consulting with the GP, I was informed that there was a hold on my prescription without any prior notice. I sought an update and followed up the next day, at which point I was advised that blood work would be required. Eager to comply, I inquired about the forms needed for the blood work, but unfortunately, no information or forms were provided by the GP's office. The following day, I had to call again to ascertain the status of these forms, and was told they were still pending. Despite multiple calls to confirm, it took three attempts before I finally obtained the necessary paperwork. As I attempted to schedule the blood work, I was informed that the earliest available appointment was three weeks out. This delay has left me without a crucial medication that I have relied on for nearly a decade, and my symptoms began to re-emerge. In an effort to address the situation, I made an appointment with my GP to discuss potential interim medication options, but this appointment was canceled without explanation. When I reached out to the practice to inquire further and escalate my concerns, I was informed that a note would be left for the doctor. However, I received no follow-up. I repeated the process 3 times. Unfortunately, each inquiry resulted in the same response: a note would be left, but no further action was taken. At this point, my condition had deteriorated significantly, impacting my mental health. I decided to visit the GP practice in person to seek assistance. Upon arrival, I was met with a dismissive attitude from the receptionist, who admonished me for my presence. Feeling overwhelmed, I experienced a breakdown in the reception area, pleading for someone to listen to my concerns. Finally doctor called the next day, I was unable to fully articulate my situation due to interruptions. My credibility was called into question, I was faced with a lack of understanding. In summary, my experience has highlighted significant gaps in the standard of care provided, and I felt treated with suspicion rather than understanding. It is essential for healthcare professionals to establish trust and open communication with their patients, and I hope that my concerns can be addressed to improve the experience for others in similar situations. Needless to say, once I have my prescription, I am looking for another practice.

Review titled No Service, GP with no basic medical knowledge
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 08 October 2024
I have been told by my private Practitioner that I need an ultrasound and blood test to confirm my symptoms. Therefore I made appointment with Royal Arsenal Riverside Medical Centre online. I then received a call from a Practitioner, who barely asked much useful questions and concluded that I don't need any scan or test. He recommended me to take contraceptual pills, I mentioned that I am planning to get pregnant but he insist me to use the pills. Normally, before taking contraceptual pills, blood test needs to be done to me to make sure my body is ok to take the pills. The GP ignored my statement and said 'you are questioning my medical knowledge, I'm ending the conversation now' and ended the call. How ridiculous this is?!?! They are Practitioners paid by government, and all these funds are coming from our income tax. How could such knowledgeless Practitioners be in medical centre and make nonsense medical suggestions to patients!

Punctual, efficient, informative and courteous. Blood pressure, blood sample taken and kit provided for urine sample which I was able to hand in immediately and have a couple questions answered and appointments made.

Review titled Very good practice
Rated 5 stars out of 5

I used to go to my surgery 9 (nine!!)years and I have to write: Great practice. • I have the same doctor- the best doctor I have ever met ( I am 73), He helped me many times when I had severe problems with my heart and even with mental problems. • fantastic management • smart and friendly staff eg. the same woman in reception ( 9 years/ may be longer) • very clean everywhere, even during pandemic time I was not afraid to come in. • my appointments used to be on time but if you want to wait/rest for a while, there are leaflets, newspapers and even books for children.

Review titled Overall experience
Rated 1 star out of 5

My overall experience at Royal Arsenal Medical Centre has left me hesitant to seek medical care. The staff were rude and dismissive, showing no empathy or understanding of my situation. On one occasion, despite multiple requests via their online form, over the phone, and in person, I was unable to speak directly with the GP. Additionally, when I filled out their online form to request an appointment, I was referred further but was not informed about the referrals made, leaving me unaware of my care plan. In a recent case, I believe my health records were shared with the local council, yet I remain uncertain about what was specifically shared. This lack of communication discouraged me from seeking timely medical attention, worsening my condition and ultimately resulting in a more complicated and costly treatment for the NHS. I hope the practice improves its communication and patient engagement to foster a better healthcare environment.

Review titled Great GP
Rated 4 stars out of 5
by Nikki - Posted on 28 May 2024
I don’t usually have good feedback about this practice as it’s so difficult to get an appointment and the GPs rush the appointment, however on this occasion I have to say that I had a great experience with completing the Accurux triage consultation tool online to getting a face to face appointment with the GP within 3hrs and after a bank holiday weekend! Also the GP I saw took the time to listen to me and didn’t rush my appointment, I went for something else but the Doctor was able to sense there were other things going on and I am so grateful to the Doctor for taking his time to listen to me and help me gain a different perspective on my situation. So thank you so much for listening, it really helped me.

Review titled Great service
Rated 4 stars out of 5

I had a wonderful and very helpful conversation with a lovely lady. (Unfortunately I can’t put her name but begins with M) She is absolutely amazing and very patient. M helped me with my prescription and sorted a few other issues as well, without hesitation. She knows her job very well, which is what I always worry about, especially having multiple health issues. M didn’t rush the conversation, she understood every question that i asked and her calmness was outstanding. She is truly a credit to the surgery and definitely deserves a pay rise!

Review titled Excellent practice
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Alexandra Margaret - Posted on 11 April 2024
One of the very helpful receptionists called me to arrange a phone call. The doctor had read my notes, listened to me carefully and fully understood all my concerns about a cardiac issue. I’m now waiting for a referral. Yes, the practice has had issues in the past with communication, lack of staff training and a clunky e consult system but these have been sorted now. I would definitely recommend this practice, it has always delivered for me.
