Review titled Thanks
Rated 3 stars out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 11 May 2024
Wanted a sick note for work..first time using Patchs receptionist was lovely and very helpful.....It was far easier than I had imagined being somewhat of a technophobe. I found it all straight forward after downloading the app. I may have underestimated how efficient this app is. Will use again if needed.

Review titled Impossible barrier
Rated 1 star out of 5

In simply trying to request an antihistamine, while suffering from hay fever, I could not get the receptionist to accept a manual request for a drug used previously. I explained I was upset, but I was told I had to use "Patchs". Each time I tried to use it, it was closed. On returning the call two days later, the receptionist said there were only a limited number of requests it could take. So a useless system. I reiterated my upset - the call was hung up. So much for the claim on the website: "Our staff are committed to providing quality healthcare for the benefit of all of our patients." I have been a patient for some 30-plus years - the practice really has declined of late - fitting the often-quoted press reports of patients not being able to get medical help. Totally unacceptable. I continue to suffer - no help provided.

Dear Patient, Thank you for submitting your review. I am sorry to hear that your hay fever is causing you immense problems and that your verbal request for antihistamines was not taken over the phone. As a general rule we do not accept medication requests over the phone as errors can occur and can be detrimental to the patients’ health. The online booking system via Patchs is the way we ask all patients to submit requests, be it for appointment/medication request or queries, to ensure greater access and quick response to patients’ needs. Patchs is now open from 7:30 -5pm Monday – Friday (excluding bank holidays). On our busiest day we can get in excess of over 180 requests, we therefore ask patients to bear with us while we deal with everyone’s requests. We also have Patchs Telephone Assist, where patients ring our main number and follow the instructions they are able to put in Patchs verbally. Patchs offers the capability to be submitted in the patient's native language. If the clinician determines a Patchs request can be managed by a pharmacy, a referral to the local pharmacy will be made as per NHS guidelines. Medications like antihistamines can also be purchased over the counter. We are always looking to improve how we work and make it easy for everyone including older people as well as people who are not able to use technology well. We are working with our Patient Participation Group (PPG) on these topics to help us improve the service and would love to hear your thoughts (roxbourneppg@gmail.com). In the meantime if you email us on nhsnwl.e84022@nhs.net we will investigate your complaint and see how we are able to assist. We are unable to contact you direct as your post was published as anonymous. Thank you once again for taking the time to write a review. Regards Management Team

Review titled Wonderful Treatment
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by COLIN BUGGS - Posted on 12 April 2024
I saw the practice nurse this morning, and was not looking forward to what she had to do, but I need not have worried, when I walked in the treatment room I was met with a warm welcome and a smiling face. The treatment she gave me was kind and understanding, and I was put at ease when in a vulnerable position, the pain I have endured over the last three weeks has almost gone and I feel so much better, I can get back to near normal all thanks to a very kind, caring and knowledgeable nurse, thank you so much.

Review titled Rapidly declining service
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Nicola Perrin - Posted on 20 April 2023
I called today for an appointment for my father, spoke to someone on the phone who was very short tempered, unhelpful, and overly confident. You are always advised to use their app "Patches" which is rarely online for appointments, and when you call for an appointment you're met with this kind of service. It was once such a nice practice, with great doctors etc, but it's been totally run down over the past 10 years or so.

Review titled Friendly practice

Very helpful and friendly surgery. The practice nurse is especially considerate and patient, taking time to deal with everything and giving a full explanation. The Patchs system seems to work well as doctor replied within minutes.

Review titled Extremely poor service
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Dharmesh Shah - Posted on 08 March 2023
I had an abscess drainage done in A&E and the dressing was supposed to be changed by my GP after 4 days. I gave the letter from the hospital to the receptionist on Friday. I was informed by the receptionist (who was extremely rude) that there was no GP nurse available on the day and she would forward the letter to the nurse. It is Wednesday evening (4 working days) since I submitted the letter and no response from the GP so far. I have ha to change the dressing myself. Apart from this, they have also changed my Diabetes Insulin injection without consulting me. I can no longer see Warfarin medication on my list of repeat medication when I have been on that treatment for the past 10 years. I regularly have my INR test done with the same surgery. So dont understand how they could have removed Warfarin from my list of medications.

Review titled Rude reception staff and ridiculous waiting times
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Sela Shan - Posted on 20 February 2023
Phone was put down on me twice by the reception staff after I went and waited at the pharmacy after they telling me they have sent it. The reception staff told me to 'fix my attitude when i told her the doctor specifically told me he will give me a prescription, but she herself had an attitude after putting the phone down on me twice and telling me incorrect information. Been a patient for over 20 years. Such a disgraceful place !!! They should record everything and listen to it.

Review titled Too long

I've sent an email requesting to be sign up on the 21st of February. Today is the 15th of March and they have never even given me a call or replied to my email. I was poorly at that time and could've used their services. Now I'm off to somewhere else. I do not recommend.

Review titled No Help
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Sangeeta - Posted on 21 November 2022
They turn off Patches for hours after opening it for 10-15 minutes ,And do not accept appointment requests otherwise,i tried in the morning and it said it will reopen at 13:01 and within 20 mins of 13:01 they were closed until 17:01,and at 17:01 they will most likely just update it to 08:01 the next morning, leaving the patients beting around the bush for a an appointment.I asked for the agent on the phone so shetold me i can complaint there is nothing else they can do.She mentioned they have more than 7000 patients registered ,if they cant manange even the existing patients ,why does the surgery show accepting new registrations.
