  1. Review titled Impossible to get help

Rated 2 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 24 October 2024

This surgery just gets worse and worse. Virtually impossible to speak to anyone yet alone a doctor Have been trying to find out why a long term medication keeps being removed from my repeat prescription requests. Cannot fill in online form for help as it is constantly being suspended, originally it was for one day but now it's 48 hours. Tried to telephone but you can wait for upto 40 minutes before someone answers & then they can be quite rude. I think after 40 years with this surgery I'm going change my GP practice as dealing with this one is so stressful.

I see two separate drs in 1 day and it was our first time at the practice! Finally a dr surgery I don’t have to wait weeks for an appointment or fight to be heard!

  3. Review titled Tired of getting messed about

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Amber - Posted on 15 May 2024

For the past month I have been messed about by this GP practice. For starters, to get an appointment was a nightmare because they didn't contact me on the phone number I provided so I missed getting an appointment and was told to just submit another form. Then once I had an appointment and had been referred for tests they had sent me an email to contact them about making an appointment to discuss the results. However, when I called they said they had no record of this and that it was best to call after the appointment to ensure they would get the results in time. You can only imagine my frustration to when I call to make the appointment after my test they tell me they only have an appointment three weeks later and that I should have scheduled the appointment prior to the test so I wouldn't of had to wait so long. Lastly, I was referred to a specialist (or at least so I thought) as apparently the referral never went through and it has taken them over a month to realize it and have still not actioned that since I saw them last week.

  4. Review titled No treatment

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 08 May 2024

I've had an inner ear infection ongoing for about 18 months, causing a lot of pain, dizziness and inflammation. It has cleared in the past with antibiotic. I requested an antibiotic a couple of weeks ago, was outright refused, told that my 'story' did not make sense and offered an ear spray despite saying this had not worked in the past. I consulted an audiologist who says I should have been referred to ENT and that he would request such from the surgery. To date I have heard nothing. The GP I saw was abrupt, rude, disbelieving and downright unpleasant, with a patient who was suffering . I am changing GP practice.

Thank you for your feedback. The surgery does request that patients allow three working days for prescription requests. If in the future you experience problems again please do contact the surgery where one of our reception team will be able to assist

  6. Review titled Awful practice

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 23 March 2024

Left after 15 years of being dismissed several times. I rarely visit the visit the doctor. After having been clearly told by a doctor at the practice not to visit with ear infections I had a severe infection which I resolved through 111. I would not recommend this practice to anyone and after using another surgery in St albans I realised just how awful the rehouse was. When I left a Google review their reply was we can't find your details. Just shows how disorganised they are.

  7. Review titled Fast service, great care

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 01 November 2024

A huge thank you to the staff at Red House Surgery. I messaged them at 8am this morning, by 10am the doctor had phoned me, and by 1.30 the doctor had seen me. This is really great service in a busy NHS, and Red House Surgery are always amazing to make sure that patients' needs come first. Thank you to the reception staff, and to the doctor who saw me. Top notch practice.

  8. Review titled Great experience with this surgery

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Kay - Posted on 04 December 2023

I've always had a great experience with the nurses, doctors and midwife at this surgery. I use the online query/booking system and have been contacted quickly to discuss the issue or offered an appointment if needed - they've been especially great for my 2 young children and really make me feel at ease.

  9. Review titled Excellent practice

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Patricia Irving - Posted on 28 July 2023

Very good doctors and staff. It is essential to be able to understand how the website works. (It is excellent once you have used it a couple of times). Not easy to begin with. The doctors are very professional and listen to my concerns. I have been increasingly impressed and grateful for their attention. Appointments online are easily accessible provided that you remember to ring early. The reception staff ring back to problems set out on the online form. The staff phone or message back (choice of contact is left to the patient) they often give an appointment on the day of emailing if appropriate. This is now a superb practice!

  10. Review titled Terrible Patient/Practice Communication

Rated 2 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 05 June 2023

I have been trying to get an appointment with a doctor for 8 months now for a referral but due to the online appointment process I either have been told it was at capacity for the day or that the system was undergoing maintenance and any time I ring up all I get is book before 10 otherwise it will be full. I struggle waking up in the mornings and have tried time and time again to the point where I sometimes did get an appointment just for the doctor to say they have no evidence or things sent sent through saying that I should have this referral. They don’t investigate or try to see if I need the referral but just dismiss me as if I’m not doing what is necessary to get a referral. For a practice that also is linked with a University for students in difficult situations, this is very disappointing and discouraging and as a student myself it makes me feel as if I’m the problem and I am imagining my symptoms and that I’m just not bad enough for even to be considered for a referral. I wish that more time and care was given to the patients especially when trying to just basically communicate with what information the practice does and doesn’t have. Instead of waiting months for an appointment with a doctor who has no idea what’s going on or any information on what’s happening. There needs to be an easier way to communicate other than just this basically useless online portal which leaves people not wanting to contact the GP until they are suffering so much they have no choice but to sit and wait by the phone for a slim chance at a vacancy just to be told you are imagining things.

Dear Patient, Thank you for your feedback and I am very sorry to hear that you have had such a poor experience with our online contact form, and difficulty getting an appointment with a doctor to discuss your concerns. I would really like to be able to investigate what has happened in your situation, and ensure that you receive appropriate treatment, and a referral if necessary.
