Review titled Awful receptionist
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 24 July 2024
The worst experience. I am suffering for a terminal problem, however the first thing the receptionist say when picking up the phone is we don't have any appointments before evening listening to the issue. Also Dr (I won't name names) didn't do my referral (which I requested on January) until the issue got worse in June then she put it through. How unprofessional. Honestly I don't understand how the surgery never has any appointments. Why is it you are told to call at 9am and then by the time it's your turn all the appointments are gone. I am raising this complaint to GMC too for the whole practice. I am happy to go in depth if you contact me.

Abrupt doctor, unsympathetic and terrible listener. Overall, a stressful and terrible experience. I felt rushed and not listened to.

Review titled Disappointing service
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Afrim Haliti - Posted on 08 January 2024
My experience with Pennine Drive Surgery has been extremely disappointing. Today, they failed to send a crucial inhaler prescription for my son to the pharmacy, despite assuring it would be ready by 5 pm. After contacting 111 for an emergency prescription, I faced additional obstacles due to the need for a new assessment. When questioning the surgery, the assistant displayed rudeness, stating they couldn't send the prescription anymore, and we had to wait until tomorrow. This situation is unacceptable, especially considering my son's breathing problems. Pennine Drive Surgery has proven to be the worst in terms of responsiveness and assistance, and I strongly advise others to avoid it.

Review titled Awful, rude, condescending
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 23 January 2024
this practice is abhorrent, i have been with them for over a decade, and i have been trying to get a diagnosis for endometriosis for 9 years.. still no luck. even codeine does not work for the pain. i called recently to talk about my scan for endometriosis. they told me they would text me with an appointment and i waited over a month with no reply. i called the reception staff and as always they were the rudest people i have ever had the displeasure of speaking with. condescending, rude and disrespectful. they asked what my appointment was about and i said endometriosis to which she said i don’t know what that is i can’t get you an appointment. i then tried explaining and she rudely gave me a random appointment time, i asked if i could have a later one as im an insomniac and she refused. i then had an appointment with a doctor who said there was no information on his side about my appointment, this is the third time in a row this has happened. i got my last scan over a 18months ago, the nurse in the hospital told me to come back in three months for my next appointment but i haven’t been able to because of how terrible this gp service is. the doctor rudely said okay i’ve done it bye and hung up without me having a chance to ask how i will be notified or what type of scan it would be. i then got a text, showed up to the appointment and they told me they couldn’t see me because i was 5 minutes late (i have a disability so it was very hard to get there). i am now calling again to restart this process for what feels like the millionth time. i was literally underage when i first complained about my period pain being abnormally high. i have been to a&e about my pain, i cry and sometimes have to sit on the pavement for an hour before i can get back up to do what im doing. it is completely irregular so i can’t ever guess when it will come, i just get hit all of a sudden with excruciating pain that makes me cry. i sat in a 2 hour tattoo session on my ribs and did not move or ask for a break. i have a high pain tolerance due to training in sports and dance and i cry in pain from my periods. all they ever do is prescribe me with codeine which does not work. i am lost for words at how terrible this practice is. my friend’s mother died of cancer due to the GP not getting a biopsy done for years.

Review titled Rude receptionist
Rated 1 star out of 5

The receptionist staff at this GP are rude and disgusting, they do not know how to care for their patients. It takes them time to answer the call when trying to call them even if your number one in the queue, they hang up the phone and refuse to give appointments to patients that are in need. I was with this GP close to 20 years never had issues until after COVID, they have ruined the GP and I would advice anyone that’s trying to join to not bother.

Dear Fatima I am so sorry that you have had a bad experience lately at the surgery. We want to ensure we look after our patients and treat them with empathy and compassion .We are happy that you have been with us for 20 years and not had any issues until after covid .We try our best to provide appointments when needed. Due to the high demand it is not always possible to give routine appointments as they have to be prioritised according to urgency. Please make an appointment with the practice manager if you would like to discuss this further. Thanks

had to ask the surgery to email 6 days worth of my medication to a pharmacist where I'd got stuck in due to train strikes and the easter bank holidays for 6th of april to the 11th,, that was 8.20 am I called them at 17.30 only to be told they wouldn't do it and that she wasn't prepared to listen to my rubbish ,,I explained to her I was recording our conversation only to be told to make a complaint.

Review titled A consistently horrible experience.

The benefit of going to Pennine Drive is you know what to expect every single time: lacklustre service and condescension. They won't answer their phone lines, so Patches is always the best way to go. If there's a larger issue, you have to remain very stoic during a call with their secretaries. The last conversation I had included one of the lovely secretaries asking jarring questions about whether I had set up my prescription order, followed by short and curt answers. Before I got a chance to ask my next question, the secretary hung up without a goodbye. I very much like Pennine Drive because it gives you a very good idea of what medical service is like in a third world country, so I'd certainly recommend it as a character-building experience!

Review titled Very poor phone appointment experience
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 06 February 2023
Phoned during advertised hours, selected appointments queue and waited for 1hr 35mins. When answered I was told me to call back in the morning, as all phone consultations for that day were gone. They did not offer a phone appointment for the following day. Was advised to call back tomorrow at 8am or use online enquiry at midnight. The appointment line told me many times that my call was valued and to stay on the line. Surely a message saying phone appointments were full and to call back tomorrow at a specified time or to use the online service should have been used. The psychological impact of waiting on a long hold for nothing is cruel. The wait was pointless and avoidable. This is not a patient-centred caring aspect of the service.

Dear Patient Thank you for your feedback. You make a valid point regarding waiting times on the phone. We are trying to improve the service to meet the excessive demand by using callback so that you do not have to wait too long for the phone to be answered. We are also trying to use a mix of telephone appointments and face to face appointments and appropriate use of the online system. We are in the process of recruiting more staff as the level of absentism can affect work load. The demand in the NHS is excessive and the capacity is sometimes not enough. We are trying our best to find innovative ways to work on it.

Review titled Worst surgu

As I'm writing this I've been caller No 1 for 29 minutes just to change the physio appointment date, it's always the same with this surgery, absolute sham and they all have their excuses.

Dear Mr Mansourah Apologies once again if you had a long wait. There are times when the phone lines get very busy. We are using a call back system where the patient has an option to be contacted by the surgery if the wait is too long. Please make use of this facility.

Review titled Dreadful
Rated 1 star out of 5

Unprofessional and careless receptionists. Getting in touch with my GP practice is very distressing. Over the years, Pennine Drive receptionists have: - provided incorrect test results (telling me the results were good when they were not) - insisted my medication was no longer necessary (I have a long term condition. Medication is for life) - been unreachable (being caller #1 for an hour and nobody picks up the phone. Regular occurrence) - ignored communication (filed my Patchs requests without taking any action) - been rude, arrogant, dismissive, etc. (not all receptionists) Patchs was initially a godsend. No more calls to reception! Unfortunately, the tool is now unusable. The online service opens at midnight and often reaches capacity within a few hours (in the middle of the night). In addition, receptionists no longer accept appointment booking through Patchs. How are we supposed to get an appointment? Requests via Patchs are rejected. Calls are being ignored. At the time of writing, every single rating for this practice is 1/5.

Dear Patient Thank you for your feedback. I am sorry that you had a distressing experience at the surgery. You mention that the receptionists provided you with incorrect test results and that you no longer needed the medication you had requested. Receptionists have been trained never to give clinical advice and only to act according to our protocol. I will be having a discussion and meeting to reiterate this. We have an issue with the excessive demand and not enough capacity in the NHS in general to meet this. PATCHS have to be monitored and triaged and there has to be a cut off point for safety reasons. If you wish to discuss further please make an appointment with the Practice Manager. Thanks
