Review titled Great surgery
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Catherine Byett - Posted on 29 October 2024
I recently gad my first appointment at Pembroke Road Surgery. The reception staff were welcoming and very helpful, the practice was well organised and efficient, and the GP was extremely friendly, helpful and patient. Thank you.

Review titled Very helpful consultation
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Thomas Osborne - Posted on 25 September 2024
I received a very detailed and incredibly helpful set of advice and information from this practice. My GP took the time to explain things in great detail as I have been in an anxious state regarding my physical health - and some confusing blood results - following a very bad bike collision this summer which has left me still quite severely injured with bone issues and vertigo issues. The course of my ongoing care and treatment was explained with great patience and professionalism and I am very grateful to my GP - who I wish I could name! (but in fact all the GPs I have seen at this practice have been terrific)

Review titled Joined up NHS
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Mark Swallow - Posted on 08 July 2024
Thanks to my doctor, I attended BRI for 12 days emergency cardiology. Unfortunately the follow-up is not so slick. He said he would write to the consultant to arrange, as advised, for an appointment in August. The reply came as follows: Waiting times for a routine f/up appt with this consultant is 80 weeks, and as this f/up referral is from only last month, Pt will likely not be seen until January 2026. Unfortunately, I cannot just book in appointments without doctors' orders as we have a long waiting list of patients who have been waiting a very long time to be seen. I am not sure if pt can be seen by someone else and even still there is still waiting lists for all pci doctors. I would need an gp letter stating your condition has worsened and that your appointment is in need of expediting. I am unsure of who you would need to speak to in order to see a different doctor, I only book appointments that I am told to or I have a referral for. The new secretary of state for health has his work cut out! Thanks Mark

Nurse was very patient in explaining several things to me and takes time to listen. I am very grateful to her. At times there is a bit of delay, not surprising when notes have to be made of everything I can’t fault her

Review titled Competent Nursing Team
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Carol Coles - Posted on 10 July 2024
I have been a patient at Pembroke Road Surgery since 1974. I am still very happy despite recent administrative constraints caused by NHS underfunding. I am now being treated for leg ulcers after a hip replacement operation five months ago. All the nurses have been kind and helpful professionals but I particularly want to thank the nurse who dealt with me today for her expertise and effort this morning (9.30am appointment) to put my mind at rest after the development of yet another ulcer. Both myself as a patient and others in the nursing team defer to her wide experience and have confidence in her decisions.

Review titled Diabetic Nurse Always Goes The Extra Mile
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Andrew Dixon - Posted on 11 July 2024
I have been under the care of the type 2 diabetic nurse for some time now. She is both friendly and highly competent. I really appreciate the way she reaches out regularly and involves me in the process of deciding the best treatment in light of my other medical issues.

Review titled Amazing acute service
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Peter Dacombe - Posted on 24 July 2024
Over the past 2 weeks I’ve been treated for ophthalmic shingles and can’t thank her and the team enough for the outstanding service they provide. I have had very thorough face to face reviews, slick telemedicine consults and referrals to secondary care which was all been really well handled. The standard of care has been fantastic and I would highly recommend this practice.

Review titled Some brilliant doctors
Rated 4 stars out of 5
by BIBI - Posted on 08 June 2024
I have had a really challenging few years since entering the peri-menopause. I have experienced a variety of testing symptoms (dry, sore eyes, memory loss, joint ache, exhaustion, sleeplessness, headaches, painful periods, vaginal atrophy, recurrent UTI's) all while holding down a senior leadership role at work and running a busy family. Like many women, this has taken me completely off guard as the menopause was not taught at school and I feel like my body and mind have been ambushed. I think we all feel ill-equipped to handle these huge changes with very little information and many women also report a lack of support from doctors too. While it is true that a few doctors at Pembroke Road did miss some pretty obvious peri-menopause symptoms and were quite dismissive, there are a handful of excellent (female) doctors who are ensuring that they are armed with up to date facts and information and are ready to support and help you. Yesterday, I had the best GP appointment I've ever had - I felt listened to, we discussed symptoms and options and I left with a plan. While we wait for the much-needed investment in women's health, we need to rely on brilliant GP's to see us through and navigate this incredibly challenging period of our lives. I am not allowed to name names in this review, but know that there are several female GP's at this practice who are ensuring their patients are well-cared for during this difficult time and for that I say: thank you.

Review titled Most pain-free blood test I’ve had
Rated 5 stars out of 5

I’ve just had a very good blood test. I am quite anxious about having blood tests but the lady who performed it was very gentle and I hardly felt a thing! Thank you!
