  1. Review titled Great practice

Rated 4 stars out of 5

For months I had been seeing various Doctors who were baffled by my H pylori symptoms and what the cure should be. That was until I saw one of the female Doctors (not allowed to include names) at the Park Road Surgery - she knew exactly what she was talking about and my symptoms cleared up within days of seeing her. Would definitely recommend

  2. Review titled Sad to see rude receptionist

Rated 3 stars out of 5

Park road surgery is great surgery, all Doctors and nurses are very helpful and great. Last 20 years I never had bad experience from receptionist while I visited there but recently I had very rude receptionist in there. Same lady, such a bad telephone manner ( exasperated expression while still talking) and don’t bother to looking at patients when a patient ask questions. I was standing at the front of desk and tried to get her attention.( she was looking at her monitor facing her back towards patients ) Finally when I got her attention she was still show her back and said “I am listening.” What a shock of manner. Was she really busy? Not sure, there was 4 patients at the waiting room and the time was only 7:30am in the morning. I am sorry to say this but her stink attitude absolutely ruins a great effort from all doctors and nurses at Park Road surgery and her colleagues in reception. Such a shame.

Thank you for your positive feedback about the service you have received from the practice team over the last 20 years. Our GPs, nurses and reception team work hard to provide the best service possible and it is nice to receive positive feedback. I am sorry that you were not happy with the service you received on this one occasion. As well as manning the front desk, our receptionists are always busy with a variety of administrative tasks, such as processing prescriptions, patient queries, registrations and dealing with clinical correspondence. I am sorry if the receptionist appeared unhelpful and I will feed this back to her.

  3. Review titled Lovely Doctor, Rude Receptionist

Rated 1 star out of 5

The doctor was great - listened, empathised and understood. Thank you. I felt very supported. However, I had to encounter a very rude receptionist before the appointment. I asked a question at the reception only to be ridiculed, my concerns dismissed and to finally be told that the doctor couldn’t help me. This was all done loudly in front of other waiting patients. I felt very humiliated. I would like to say that many patients are in a vulnerable state and to be spoken to in such a way is unacceptable. I understand that manning a reception can be challenging but courtesy from staff (as well as expected courtesy from patients) is needed too.

  4. Review titled Never any appointments available .

Rated 3 stars out of 5

There are never any appointments when you need a doctor urgently. When you ring at 08:30 am you are automated 23 in the queue, by the time you get to speak to to a rude and abrupt receptionist, there are no appointments available for days sometimes weeks.

I am sorry that you have found it difficult to make an appointment on occasions. We have a number of receptionists answering the calls each morning, to make on the day appointments, and we work hard to meet the high demand for appointments and provide the best service possible. It is also possible to book appointments up to 3 weeks in advance, or online or to send in administrative and clinical non-urgent requests via the online triage function on our practice website.

  5. Review titled No appointments available

Rated 2 stars out of 5

I tried to book online today for a non-urgent appointment but there were no appointments available for the next two months. Should I transfer to another GP practice?

I am sorry that you have been dissatisfied with our appointment booking system. We constantly monitor this to try and provide the best service possible. We are experiencing extremely high levels of demand for appointments at the moment. We have some appointments to book online on the day, which become available at midnight each day. These do often get booked up quickly. We do not currently offer appointments in advance online, although these are available to book by telephoning the surgery. This is why you would not have seen any pre-bookable slots when you looked online. Appointments are available to book up to three weeks in advance by telephone. We are reviewing this process and will post any changes on our website. Most of our appointments are available on the day and these can be booked by telephone or online. It is also now possible to send an online triage request - for either a clinical or administrative query - and you will receive a response within two working days. This can be accessed through our website www.parkroadsurgeryteddington.co.uk I hope that this is of help.
