Review titled Great Clinical Staff, Not So Great Reception Staff

I honestly cannot fault the doctors at this surgery, I have been registered at this practice for a over a decade and have recently undergone several investigations made via referral to hospital services. The GPs, Nurses and Practitioners are understanding, caring and do genuinely have your health in mind. It is a shame that some of the front line service of this surgery is appalling, with almost a barricade trying to get to see the amazing staff they have on offer, even for routine appointments! I have had an experience where the receptionist has had absolutely no care or good telephone manner whatsoever, talking down to myself as a patient and being of no help at all! I was offered an appointment weeks in the future as a replacement for a cancelled appointment this week. I stated multiple times that I was happy to be a bit more flexible as my original appointment request was attempting to fit around work, but was told all they could offer me was 3 weeks away as fit within 'my very specific parameters' as its flu season and the nurses are very busy. I would like to say this is not a direct reflection of the whole team, but has certainly left a sour taste in my mouth. Perhaps there should be some looking into how your staff speak to patients, as I am sure I am not the only one who has had this experience.

I recently had my first smear test way Oxted health Center, and I couldn’t have asked for a better experience. From the moment I walked in, i was made me feel extremely comfortable. the nurse was not only extremely professional but also very funny, which helped ease my nerves. The entire appointment was fast, easy, and absolutely no problem.

My family and I have been deeply fortunate to have the care of the doctor, nursing, midwifes and other staff for over 11 years. To provide constant first class service and support over this length of time is not easy, yet at every turn Oxted Health Centre have been there for us. There have been many deeply challenging moments in this time, yet they always deliver what is needed with such dedication and patient centred approach. Congratulations Oxted Health Centre - you're a first class practice.

I have been a patient of this practice for over 20 years and initially it was brilliant and the whole family were well looked after. I now can't believe how bad it has become - todays experience just highlighted that. My daughter is recovering at home from major surgery and we had run out of sterile strips to dress the wound, and sterile wipes. I visited the surgery to ask if the nurse could let me have a few and was told by the receptionist (who did refer the request) that my daughter would have to ask her own GP or visit the hospital. Her GP is an on line NHS GP. The surgery was done privately which alleviated the pressure on the NHS. I am sure that East Surrey Hospital could well do without requests like this and it only needed a bit of common sense by Oxted Surgery. If you are thinking about registering with a GP at this surgery I would suggest you consider your decision very carefully. I have tried to make a complaint on the GP surgeries own web site but there does not appear to be a complaint form - I suspect because they would be inundated.

Comment reference number: 1581278 Your Review: After speaking to a very helpful receptionist yesterday afternoon, as suggested I attended the surgery at 8am the next day to request an appointment. I was fortunate to get an appointment the very same morning at 9.15 with the Doctor I requested. My appointment with the doctor was on time and she was very thorough and advised me in clear detail regarding my concerns. Over the last 12/18 months the help and great service from the receptionists and the Doctors, I have received has been excellent. Many thanks

I have been getting my monies worth from ohc since I moved here a few years ago. It has been a busy time there, like anywhere I guess. But my previous contact with the staff have on the whole been very pleasant. I am not a demanding person and leave an online message most of the time for someone to get back as soon as they are able, and that works for me. Today I got a response from a message given yesterday where I was assisted with 4 different issues spanning prescription and test results etc. Even though I could hear the busy centre in the background and the stress of a busy person assisting me, the communication was very pleasant and everything was taken care of in one go. So thank you very much ohc staff for the great services you provide.
