  1. Review titled some good experiences and some bad

Rated 3 stars out of 5

after reading all these reviews and through my own personal experiences, i dont completely agree that its a terrible practice, as i have had some amazing doctors help me when i really needed it, however, sometimes there are loads of issues with the callback system, i have recently ran out of a medication that i cant handle the withdrawls from, and i called the orderline to explain, and they said everything was okay and being sent through, then i get a message saying that it cant be placed, so i call up and i get a call back, they do ring twice which is good, but the hours in which are very varied, mine was 12-8, i am a deaf individual who struggles with callbacks and i cant figure out how to work the appointment thing on the app, so i am trying to make sure i get an appointment today or im off my medication for a while, which really cant happen, i wish that i was just able to message someone instead of waiting for a callback, and just tell them that im okay on my medication and that i just need the prescription, all other aspects are good but the problem with appointments would probably be lessened if they included messaging services, for people who just need checkins or like me who cant ring up at 8 and wait or they just cant hear the phone. overall an okay practice but defo needs to organise something better than callback services, i think many deaf patients would agree with me.

  2. Review titled Terrible Practice

Rated 1 star out of 5

Only 3000 characters to review this place. Not enough words. Never seem to be able to get an appointment. Always get told to call back first thing in the morning but when you call in the morning you can't get through because of the queue limit. And if you are lucky enough to get in the queue by the time you get through all the appointments are gone and you are told to do the same thing the next day. They won't allow you to book a appointment in advance it's only on the day. But yet one of the rude GP's told me off because I rang to extend a sick note and she said I should'nt leave a gap between sick note. She also said if I ring again she won't sign me off and I need to get my work to sign me off. I complained to the receptionist when I called back and it seemed like she has a lot of complaints but her husband is one of the other doctors so nothing happens. I explained I can never get through so what can I do and she said I should pre book appointments. Such a terrible GP. I had to redial over 30 times first thing in the morning just to get in the telephone queue. Ridiculous. Going through mental health issues at the moment and contemplating seeking help, but then I'm worried that rude GP will just tell me off again or I just won't be able to get through to anyone which makes my depression even worse. Only came on here to look for another GP to register to and figured I'd leave a review whilst I'm online. Such ashame. I pay a lot of tax out of my pay but seems like I can even get a simple consultation in return. Feel sorry for the staff who have to work there and have no control in how it's run. Also feel sorry for the vulnerable people who must be suffering because of these terrible places.

We are sorry to hear of your complaint though we have a robust complaints process and we would advise all patients who have a genuine concern to raise this so that it can be investigated. Unfortunately as you have chosen to remain anonymous we are unable to investigate. All practices struggle with the volume of telephone calls and we endeavor to have as many staff available to answer calls to alleviate that pressure but as with all businesses we are susceptible to sickness. I will point out that none of the receptionists are married to a GP partner so that is not factually correct.

  3. Review titled High demand is not a good enough excuse

Rated 1 star out of 5

I've been trying to get an appointment for 9 days now, I've rang 22 times so far this morning but can't even get into the queue (as they only allow a small number in the queue. I have to keep trying, so can hope to be in a qeueu .. so I can book 1 of the small number of appointments they allocate to patients in day only.. There is no advance booking of appointments tomorrow or the day after. Expecting people to try their luck everyday, to hopefully get in a queue to hopefully get an appointment, ... Knowing people will keep trying, harder and harder based on how desperate they are, shows a real lack of respect for patients... It's not the receptions fault, they do the best they can with the processes they are given, it's a failure of management processes and lack of empathy by the senior GPs.

Dear patient I am sorry you have bene having these problems securing an appointment. We do have up to 60 'on-the-day' appointments every day along with appointments which are released for booking up to 2 weeks in advance. All of these appointments become available for booking at 8am every day when we open. As you have discovered, the appointments do book very quickly due to the high demand we receive. Once all of the available appointments have been booked we do signpost callers to alternative sources of help such as NHS 111, your community pharmacy, the NHS website, local urgent care centres and A+E as appropriate. Our telephone system will hold up to 20 callers in a queue at any one time. This is to minimise the very long waiting times that would result in us increasing the call queue to an even larger number. We also have a telephone message which lets you know when all of today's appointments have been booked so that you have the option of ending a call at that stage.
