  1. Review titled Telephone Receptionist

Rated 3 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 13 July 2024

I have always thought that when you answer the phone a cheery hello or a more formal name of the business is appropriate. Monday I was snapped at with “date of birth? “. Not in a friendly manner. I understand staff recruitment and retention, especially of good staff, is difficult in this low paid, thankless job (I’ve done it), but you are scraping the barrel here. She also seemed rather annoyed that I didn’t understand the booking system, in that I was phoning for an afternoon call back in the morning. Rather than wait another half an hour in a phone queue at 1:30 pm as she told me I’d need to do, I said okay book me in a morning telephone appointment please, at which point her manner suggested that I was taking up too much of her valuable time. I also requested that I be called on the home phone as I have poor mobile signal at home. Three hours later I had a missed call on my mobile… The doctor did get me eventually on my home phone as requested. I have no complaints with the medical professionals, they are and always have been excellent for the past 20 years that I’ve been going to the surgery.

Dear Patient, I am very sorry to hear of your recent experience. This is not the service level we strive to achieve so please be assured your comments will be fed back to the reception manager to discuss further with the whole team. I would also like to bring your attention to our e-consult service which you can access from our website 24 hours a day. You will be asked a few questions and your response is then triaged for clinical urgency and we aim to get back to you by close of surgery the next working day with either an appointment with an appropriate clinician or signposting to a local service which best suits your needs. This service avoids the need for you to call into our already extremely busy phone lines and should save you valuable time. Thanks once again for taking the time to feedback to us and please be assured we will take your comments constructively to aim to improve our service. Kind Regards Practice Manager

  2. Review titled Touching Action

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Richard Asa John Irving - Posted on 17 May 2023

I went to a local man's funeral in Shelley Church yesterday and as the courtege passed your building on the way to his final resting place in Love Lane, to see so many of your staff lining the road in tribute to one of your patients, as we passed, was very moving and will no doubt never be forgotten by his Family and friends. Very touching indeed, my Family were extremely impressed. Thank you.

  3. Review titled Blood tests

Rated 2 stars out of 5

by Anthony Leonard Mansfield - Posted on 25 January 2023

The booking system doesn't work. Having booked a time with Swiftqueue, as I was told to do by the surgery, and receiving email confirmation of that time, I was told at the surgery that my blood sample couldn't be taken as I didn't have a form. At no time was I told I needed such a thing, The fact that I had done everything I'd been told to do, didn't help. It seems that whoever told me to have a test should have filled in a form, but how could they, when they didn't know what time I'd been given by Swiftqueue, or even if I had contacted them? There appears to be no communication between Swiftqueue and the surgery. Why is the surgery using an outside company to do something that the surgery should be doing, and failing in the process?

Dear Mr Mansfield, Thank you for raising this concern. I'm aware our operations & complaints manager has now spoken to you regarding this and has explained both the process and investigated what happened on this occasion. It is correct that our clinician failed to raise the blood form and we apologise for the inconvenience this has caused you. The process usually works very smoothly and I am sorry it didn't this time. The phlebotomy service is commissioned by the local integrated care board, provided by phlebotomists from Princess Alexandra Hospital and is available to patients from all local practices as a choice of a number of locations. We actively engage with this to ensure Ongar Health Centre patients have access to blood tests when required. Thank you once again for your feedback as it allows us to understand what went wrong on this occasion and speak to those involved to avoid a similar problem arising in the future.

  4. Review titled Wonderful

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by richard irving - Posted on 16 January 2023

left a urine sample at Ongar this morning for a standard diabetes check and got a call back an hour later saying I needed antibiotics. These guys, all their staff, their dispensary Ladies, the desk staff, they are all just so wonderful. The Ongar folk are more fortunate than they probably know. Awesome and thank you so much. Really appreciated this end.
