Review titled Poor dispensary staff
Rated 3 stars out of 5
by Charlotte - Posted on 08 October 2024
After phoning to ask if I could have me medicine delivered today as I had missed it on Friday due to being stuck in bed because of my migraine, which may I add are Hemoplegic migraines which mean I am unable to move my right side of my body! To be told no they on try once, then you have to go and collect, I have it delivered for a reason I understand what are were saying but as I told them I do not have anyone around here that can go and collect it for me as I can not get there myself due to mobility problems!. I was talking to a man at first who wasn't listening to then be put on to an extremely rude lady who also wouldn't listen, I had then said are you joking as a response to something she said for her to then hang up on me!. Rude and unprofessional if this is how you treat people with disabilities like mine, I dread to think how you treat people who are bedbound!!.

Dear Charlotte, Thank you for your feedback. We are sorry to hear that you were unhappy with a recent experience regarding our delivery service. You may not be aware that our medication delivery service is not funded by the NHS and that we offer this as a complimentary service for our patients who struggle to collect prescriptions. Many other organisations charge a fee for delivery services or do not offer them at all. Unfortunately, we have very limited resources to keep the service running meaning that we can only try to deliver your medications once, and if you are not able to receive them on the day your delivery is due, you will be asked to collect your medication on that occasion. Please be reassured that your next delivery will take place as planned. If you are not able to receive it we would be grateful if you could contact the practice to let us know if possible so that we can try to reschedule for you to a different day. We hope this helps to answer your query. Please do not hesitate to contact us again if you have any further feedback. Kind regards Oak Tree Surgery and Pensilva Health Centre Management Team

Review titled Very caring
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Lesley Tennant - Posted on 17 July 2024
After having some stitches removed without any problems, I started feeling faint whilst waiting at the surgery for the pharmacy. Everyone was so kind and caring - thanks first to the receptionist who alerted a nurse and a doctor who then all looked after me. Special thanks to the nurse who even phoned later to make sure I’d made it home ok. Just wonderful - I’m so grateful.

I phoned the Practice to find out result of my heart ultra sound test and 24 hours ECG test. A receptionist with was very helpful, polite and caring. She guided me on line how to book online consultation. I am grateful. Many people of my generation do not know how how to use IT.

I emailed the Practice earlier this afternoon to ask for an appointment for a blood test required for an MRI scan I’m having later this month. Oak Tree Surgery contacted me within the hour with an appointment, date and time several days in advance of my scan. Excellent, prompt and efficient service. Well done guys….😁

Review titled Awaiting call back from dr
Rated 2 stars out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 13 April 2024
I was told I had been contacted several times but nothing showed on my mobile.I had to ring and ring to get to see or talk to a Dr. I missed a call from the Dr at 11.30 as I was in the toilet. I called in the afternoon to check what was happening and was told that I was still on the list and to stay close to my phone. Until 5.00 when I needed to get to the chemist to pick up my morphine tablets. On picking them up I received a text telling me that I had missed several calls and if my problem persists to call 111 or 999. I called the surgery as it was about 5.35 now and was told again I had missed several calls. The phone had never left my hand all afternoon. I was distressed by now and the girl on the phone said they would contact the duty Dr. I was called back and asked to go to the surgery where I was seen and given anti biotics for a chest infection. I used the correct system and did nothing wrong except going to the toilet. May I add, if I had known to expect a phone call then maybe I would have taken my phone to the toilet with me. The advice is that it can take up to 3 working days to reply. The Dr who saw me emphasised that if things got worse its imperative that I ring 111 or 999 as asthma can deteriate very quickly. Humm!!!

Review titled Diagnosed ear incorrectly
Rated 3 stars out of 5
by Kayleigh Marlow - Posted on 19 March 2024
I found the staff friendly and quick to respond but I do feel the second time I brought my daughter about her ear that I was told was blocked with wax wasn't taken seriously and he looked again and said it would clear on it own to keep using oil, I knew something didn't seem right this is why we brought my daughter in again. Today I have been in derriford and she had stones in her ear, it wasnt wax and her ear was completely blocked and she has been in pain for a while luckily there out and her hearing seems to be fine. I do feel the doctor maybe should have investigated her ear a bit better on the Friday I brought her in and not just said she would be fine, there was three stones in her ear extremely deep.

Review titled Not enough time to answer
Rated 4 stars out of 5
by Mr CHRIS Inwood - Posted on 14 December 2023
had a telephone appointment today at 0850. Phone rang at 0820 being partially sighted I failed to answer as I was only given 4 rings before the call ended. This has happened before and is an unrealistic expectation with an aging population.

Review titled Excellent fast service
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Chris Anderson - Posted on 03 January 2023
I logged my medical issue on line at about 0900 this morning. I was called back by the doctor within 1 hour and had a quick and very good discussion with him. I was asked to come into the surgery to see the doctor just 45 minutes later. A great consultation and I left with appropriate medication within a few minutes. What excellent and friendly service when the NHS is under such great pressure, total turnaround time just 2 hours - thank you Oak Tree Surgery.
