Review titled Extremely helpful
Rated 5 stars out of 5

I completed online request for an appointment as I was really struggling with anxiety. I received a phone call that afternoon and the doctor gave me plenty of time to discuss my problems, advised on medications, arranged a prescription to be ready that day and arranged to call again in 3 weeks to check on progress which they did. I was also given plenty of other advice which has been very helpful. I’m still on my recovery journey but feel supported by the practice.

Review titled Very Good Team At MyHealth Strensall
Rated 5 stars out of 5

As a somewhat ageing and long-term patient, I must say that I am more satisfied with the doctors, clinician & reception team. The impression that comes over is that everyone wants to help as much and as quickly as possible. I have recently seen a doctor in person and have had a telephone medication review with a clinician and was suitably impressed. All I can say to the team at MyHealth, Strensall is “thanks and keep up the good work”.

Review titled Diabetic Referral
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Jamie Merrick - Posted on 18 February 2024
I have been with this GP for nearly two years, and there have been a few major bumps along the way. They initially referred me to two hospitals for diabetic outreach clinics that had a waiting list of two years each, not great for a Type 2 diabetic. I have asked many times to be referred to the diabetic clinic at the local hospital; I am still waiting to be referred. I have severe dyslexia where I am unable to read or understand text messages, the practice has been reminded numerous times to just call and remind me which is hit and miss at the best of times. The receptionist whoever it is always has the got 'hump' when talking to me which is not what I call professional. I was constantly collapsing until I was reviewed by another healthcare professional who stated that my medications needed to be reviewed or referred to a Lead Clinician for Diabetes, not a Nurse. Presently, I have no input from the Diabetic Nurses at this practice as they have no real understanding of the disease process or endocrinology. This is through my own choice, I monitor myself very closely but at the point of needing interaction with the clinical team at the hospital and not having to wait two years. The local Diabetic Centre (York) just needed a referral, the likelihood of that happening soon is not very likely. It is not great when you can't drive or read texts etc......I was reminded that GPs don't deal with diabetes.....funny advice to be honest. This is how it should work; referral to an endocrinologist who specialises in the disease process, he can then make recommendations to the GPs........why is it so hard?

We are sorry that you have not been happy with your experience at MyHealth. If you have any concerns around your clinical management, we would invite you to contact the practice and we would be more than happy to discuss your care as we are unable to address clinical matters online. We can assure you that we have a highly knowledgeable Nursing and Pharmacy team within the practice who lead on the management of our diabetic patients. Our GPs would also be involved when they need to be. Only a relatively small proportion of people with diabetes require a referral to the diabetes team at the hospital - the hospital have referral criteria that patients need to meet before we can refer. Kind Regards, MyHealth

Review titled Poor practice, Dismissive Practices and Unfit for purpose
Rated 1 star out of 5

Contacted the practice to ask for a doctors appointment. Without asking any further questions the response from the practice is “As you have heard we are not offering any doctors appointments as we are in a critical situation. Can you call back on a later day”. Since MyHealth took over the practice the service level, quality of care, healthcare resolution and access to healthcare have plummeted. MyHealth are a poor healthcare provider.

Review titled 6 week wait for standard GP appointments
Rated 3 stars out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 25 May 2023
Wait time for standard GP appointments is minimum 6 weeks which is three times longer than the 2 week NHS aim, and website for appointment and prescription requests etc is only usable during surgery opening hours which is very inconvenient and unsatisfactory, assume there must be a shortage of GPs, reception staff are courteous.

I came into the Strensall Southfields Road practice on 5th May 2023 at 5:30pm wanting help with an item from a prescription that I couldn't get hold of, the person that served me was helpful and spoke to the G P who asked her to ring a few pharmacies to see if they had it for me, however when she asked her 2 colleagues how to go about this one said you're not doing that we don't have the resources and the other said she'll have to go round them herself you'll have to get another prescription printed which isn't very professional when 'she' is stood there and can hear what is being said and is actually quite rude.
