Review titled Feel safe in the hands of this medical practice
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Julie Hussey - Posted on 09 June 2023
I felt one of my prescription medications wasn't working as well as it used to so I raised this in the comments section of the repeat prescription request section of the NHS app. A few days later I received a text message with an appointment to see a GP in one weeks time. The GP discussed my symptoms with me, gave me some options & together we decided on my treatment going forward. Sorted!!! Thank you Millgate.

Fed up being bombarded with e mails re a online medication review. filled it in 3rd May, had a e mail reply to that effect, and then another 8 e mails to complete the review! Wonder how many more I am going to get? Makes you wonder why does this medical practice not know what medication I am on anyway? don't they look at my medical records?

My reason for this is in the last twelve months I should have been recommended to see a cardiologist twice by 2 hospitals and neither was done .

Surgery left a message for my father on 18th May. Ring Surgery, I am his carer he is 84. I have tried three times now and held on 15mins on each occasion. This isn't a one off, it is all the time. Wants a decent manager.

Dear Mr Whittaker, we are sorry to read your review and the problems you have had getting through to the surgery. I have been managing the surgery since August last year and have continued to try and improve access to the surgery. You can also contact us online using the administrative form if this is helpful. Unfortunately our phone lines continue to be extremely busy, we receive and deal with over 11,000 calls every month. We continue to review access and our phone system to improve communication. Kind Regards D Snow Business Operational Manager

Thank you for your feedback. You can make an appointment via our online form or by telephone. I have checked the link on our website to the NHS App information and it does appear to work, you need to go to download the NHS App on your telephone and you can then order your repeat prescriptions this way. Our admin form is open during normal practice hours, you need to scroll to 'I have an admin query' as the online appointments can close earlier due to demand. We usually delivery over 13,000 appointments and deal with over 11,000 telephone calls per month. We're sorry that you have not had a good experience this time and hope this improves in the future for you.

Reception staff are helpful and polite at times. Some doctors are good, some bad. I have been passed from doctor to doctor. What happened to the days when you had one doctor and you developed a rapport with them. To make matters worse one of the doctors doesn’t even see me as his regular patient but makes judgments about myself and I have seen this in my clinical record. Speaking of my clinical record, it is no longer available to view through the NHS app despite legislation stating patients should have access. And when I have had access to my clinical record it is missing diagnoses etc. Furthermore, one of my friends is with the practice and she is treated far differently than I am, with help with letters of support. Instead I’m treated as though I’m a nuisance.

Thank you for your review, we are happy to read that you find the staff helpful and polite and that you have had a positive experience with some of the doctors. We are sorry to read that you feel that you have not had regular contact with a GP, we will always try our best to ensure continuity however depending on demand and availability this is sometimes challenging. All patients have a right to access their notes and a request for your notes can be made to the surgery however digital access is not fully available as yet. The BMA have advised practices not to make this available until there are further guarantees around the safety of this process. If you want to discuss this over the telephone or in person please don't hesitate to contact me. D Snow Business Operational Manager

Thank you for your feedback, we do not routinely take prescription requests over the telephone due to health and safety. Please consider downloading the NHS App (more details can be found on our website) or you can use our admin query form on our website, this form is open during normal practice hours, Monday to Friday 8am - 6.30pm

Review titled The saga continues
Rated 1 star out of 5

The saga continues, after not being able to contact the practice by phone attended in person , and was politely told that my repeat prescription had been approved by the GP, when? just a few moments ago.... went home, had lunch then got in touch with dispensary to be told the order is still waiting the GPs approval....someone is mistaken , the practice surely would not lie about this? Tried once again to contact the surgery by phone and gave up after 25 minutes of ring tone interrupted by please stay on the line your call is important to us etc.etc.etc. Will visit once again in the morning.... I do hope this surgery is not going down the same path as the dentists....

I'm sorry you have not had a positive experience. Without more details it is difficult to ascertain the cause of the delay regarding this particular example. I hope that this has been resolved and that you have an improved service from the practice in future.

Review titled Totally unhelpful

I’ve been in this surgery for over 30years and since Covid it is impossible to get to see your GP! if you manage to get through on the phone which is after trying for over 40 minutes there is always an excuse why you can’t see your GP! If you fill the online form in you may be lucky enough for a receptionist to call you who then asks your personal information and then a decision is made if you should be seen! It’s an absolute joke! We all have the right to see our GP and not be fobbed off with a text or even better fill a questionnaire and then you’re diagnosed! It’s absolutely shocking and should be sorted! A drs receptionist should not be referring you to the hospital when you can’t get to see your GP that is the reason for the 12 hour waits when you do need the hospital in an emergency Absolute shambles and everything has been blamed on Covid!

We're very sorry to read your review on our practice. Our practice has a huge range of clinicians as primary care has changed over the last few years, we now have GPs, Advanced Clinical Practitioners, Paramedics, Nurses, Health Care Assistants, Physiotherapists, Mental Health specialists, Social Prescribers and Pharmacists. Our patient advisors are trained to sign post patients to the correct clinician and at times if a patient indicates serious issues they are also trained to direct patients to attend hospital in those cases as this is the safest route for them. We have over 13,000 appointments every month with patients and deal with over 11,000 telephone calls. We are sorry your experience with us has been negative at this time and hope that it improves in the future.
