Review titled Good experience
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 14 August 2024
I rang at 8am and was given a queue number and accepted the call back facility which proved very successful. Thirty minutes later I received the call back and and was given the option of a face to face appointment with a GP or a telephone appointment for that morning. I accepted the face to face appointment as I hadn't had one for at least 3 years. My problem was sorted by mid day. I found the whole process very successful and a great improvement.

Review titled Cannot book an appointment
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 31 May 2024
Speed dial phoned at 8am, started at number 27 in the queue. 48 minutes later my call was answered to be informed that all the appointments had gone. The previous week I had a phone consultation with a doctor who said If my condition did not improve I should phone back for a face to face examination and tests. I was instead given an appointment for the 10th of July. If my condition worsens I will have no choice but to go to A & E. What kind of service is this for the local community. The surgery website has the tagline "our doors are open for everyone". Well they are not, your receptionist gatekeepers are placing peoples lives at risk.

Dear Patient, We are sorry that you had a poor experience when contacting us. If you would care to contact us, we would be more than happy to investigate further. We are aware generally that patients are unhappy with queuing, so we have implemented a new telephone system that offers the option of a call back while holding their place in the queue. The patient can then discuss their needs with one of our reception staff who will direct them to the best available pathway. Please note that due to the workload pressures being experienced by Primary care and the NHS in general a GP appointment may not always be available. Kind Regards, Management team

Review titled Poor poor poor

My partner had to call NHS 111 due to a tattoo hand infection and really bad pain. She was told this bunch of @@@@ would call her around 8am the following day to discuss. The phone rang once and they hung up, and it's impossible to call them back. Shocking service, they simply made the call to hit the call request, and couldn't be bothered to do the job they are paid to do. Just shows how @@@@@@ the NHS is. Things need to improve

Dear Mr Watson, We have looked into this matter and your Partner is still on the Call back list and and will be contacted again. Our clinical staff will always try to contact a patient at least twice, before closing a call. We hope that this clarifies matters for you. Kind Regards, Melbourne Park Management Team.

Review titled Absolutely terrible service & Practice
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 19 February 2024
Rang up for some advice as I have an endoscopy scheduled for day after this said phone call. I asked if the team could email the GP with a concern that I’m about to have a camera down my throat and have a possible upper congestion and wanted to know if it was still safe. They asked me to contact the department doing it but couldn’t get through, so did what some advice page said and contact my GP as they are medically trained to be asked these things… cut a longer story short and they where absolutely useless and wouldn’t email my Gp and get back to me later on the day as I’m already anxious. This isn’t the first time this GP service has been inadequate and I do not recommend if you are ill and need hospital treatment as they don’t care and are not helpful at all…. CQC will be contacted shortly with my complaint also…. You if you respect your loved ones, get them help else where!!!

Dear Sir or Madam, We are sorry that you feel our service did not meet your expectations. To clarify matter's while a GP can provide General advice about other services. They can not give advice about specialist procedures as this would be a clinical decision for that specialist team. If you wish to discuss matters further please contact the Management Team.

Thank you for your comments. We are sorry that you have had a negative experience with the practice. After looking into the phone system following your review, we recognised a fault with the queue system. This has now been rectified and the average wait time is now 13 minutes. This is actively monitored by the management team to ensure it doesn't happen again. We hope this will address any issues you have had. Kind Regards The Management Team at Melbourne Park Medical Centre

We are sorry that you are unhappy with our service. We run a majority same day appointment system for GP appointments, with limited pre-booking. These are a mix of telephone and face to face appointments. If you have a telephone consultation, the GP may ask you to send in photographs (by secure text), invite you to join a video consultation or arrange a follow-up face-to-face appointment in the surgery, based on clinical need. We do also have access to GP+ appointments that can be pre-booked and are out of hours. These are subject to availability and include GP, Nurse, Phlebotomy, Physiotherapy and Clinical Pharmacist appointments. All our practice nursing team and phlebotomy appointments are available to book in advance and some appointments (currently smear tests and blood tests) are available to book online. We also have additional roles appointments, including clinical pharmacist medication reviews and first contact practitioner physiotherapists (for all new onset musculoskeletal problems) that are available to pre-book. We recommend that if you are calling to book a non-GP appointment that you avoid the busy times of 8am and 12noon when we are taking calls for the GP same day morning and afternoon appointments. We have introduced Call queue monitoring and wait times (outside peak times) are under 15 minutes. We hope that this clarifies the current Process. Should you wish to discuss your concerns further please contact the management team.
