From Receptionist in the reception area to Nurse extracting stitches, the processes were quick and patient-friendly.

Dispensary couldn't help. They need to get appointment when available to them. Have asked to be kept informed.

Review titled Great practice

I have had excellent treatment over many years. Have just had major surgery and are being looked after well. The shuttle bus is a big help. If you treat the staff with respect they will treat you the same. We are lucky to have them.

Review titled Awful practice
Rated 1 star out of 5

I had heard from other people how poor Measham Medical Unit had become but have now experienced it myself. This is the first time I’ve needed the medical unit since before Covid. My son had badly injured his toe and tried to get through to the medical unit for 2 days. The phone wasn’t answered and was cut off twice! Ended up at the walk in centre who dressed the wound, said it was a good job we went as an infection had set in and needed antibiotics which they issued. Was told an email would be sent to the medical unit as it would need re-dressing in 2 days. Managed to get through to the medical unit to make this appointment only to be told none available for a further 5 days! Had to go back to walk in centre and wait for 2+ hours to have it dressed, extremely inconvenient. This is appalling service from Measham Medical unit and I find it hard to believe that a nurse wasn’t available for 10 minutes to dress a wound. This is a minor injury compared to others and it’s extremely concerning that this is happening. Someone at a high level should be looking at the issues at the medical unit as service has seriously declined.

Dear Patient Thank you for your feedback, my name is Tracey Lidgbird and I am the practice manager. We are sorry you have had a negative experience with the Medical Unit recently. Our phone lines are incredibly busy in the mornings and we understand that it can be hard to get through. We continue to work hard to improve this, and have other options available to access us such as online bookable appointments and engage online consultations. Unfortunately, we have a finite capacity and once appointments are booked we do have to ask patients to access other services which are provided for this reason- such as the minor injury unit and walk in centres. It is not possible to look into the exact circumstance of the issues you raise as it is anonymous. If you want us to look into it in more detail then please contact me. You can do this by emailing measham.doctors@nhs.net or calling on 01530 270667. Thank you.

Review titled Very efficient service
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 22 June 2023
The sheer volume of people phoning first thing in the morning means you do have to keep pressing re dial, but I expect this, given you can largely only book on the day appointments first thing. Once I was through to the receptionst, my experience was exemplary from start to finish. I was spoken to with kindness by the receptionist, given a same day appointment and then had a very thorough check up with a nurse practitioner, who put forward a plan of action there and then. I could have come away in sheer panic, but my experience from start to finish made me feel valued and more at ease about the reason for my visit.

Review titled Useless
Rated 1 star out of 5

It took a month to actually get to see someone about my ears being Itchy and inflamed inside, when I did finally get to see someone in person she confirmed the inside was dry, Flakey and red so she suggested a spray to use three times a day and she would sent a prescription up to the Chemist to be collected after 2pm that day. I went up after 2 to be told they had not recieved any prescription for me and to contact the surgery, so I called in on my way home to be told the Lady in question did not bother to do my prescription but she had now gone home as she finishes at 11 and she would not now be back in until tuesday. I had to take a day off work for this appointment so I lost a days holiday for nothing. No wonder the NHS is in such a state when you cant get staff that can be bothered to do their job properly, Meanwhile I am no better off than before I went, What a shambles this surgery has become, 20 years ago it was a surgery to be proud of, sorry to say no longer.

Review titled Very poor reception staff
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 13 March 2023
Placed an online repeat prescription over a week ago, not heard anything regarding collecting the medicine. Called today, waited 10 minutes to speak to a receptionist who then put the phone down on me! Called back, another 10 minutes, same result. Called back again, number unobtainable! Complete joke, very poor reception staff who require training in customer service and politeness. I have been a client for over 20 years and the practice has deteriorated hugely over the last 12 months. No doctors appointments, telephone appointments only and that's only if you can get past the recorded messages and rude receptionists. The practise manager really needs to get a grip or be replaced.

I am the Practice Manager at the Medical Unit my name is Tracey Lidgbird We are sorry that you are not happy with the service and we would very much like to look into your contacts with the practice We are aware that between 8:30 and 11:30 we receive 1000s of attempted calls and we have recently run a survey to try and analyse how many of those calls needed to be made at that time or could be managed later so that we can communicate this with our patients I am concerned to hear that we terminated your call twice and if you contact the practice with your details we can look into those calls We do offer face to face as well as telephone appointments and combined this is in the region of 9500 a month The message we gave on our phone is designed to help patients by giving information about all options available to them and we try to keep it as concise as we can whilst being informative All the clinical and non clinical staff at the unit strive to provide the best service that we can and our receptionists do a very difficult job very well We very much want to look into your comments so please contact us in whichever way is convenient to you which can include our email Measham.doctors@nhs.net

Very rude receptionists. All you get is a very abrupt answer. I have run out of blood thiners to be told order in the usual manner . Can't get to talk to a doctor to ask about it . The worst receptionists I've ever had to deal with . A disgrace

Review titled Unable to get appointment
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 02 February 2023
I have required a GP following a prolonged illness over the Christmas period and in to the new year. I have rung the surgery promptly when the appointment line is open and all I get is a recorded message saying that all appointments for that day are full. I have tried over twenty times during two five day periods and have not got beyond the message. It advises to visit the nearest walk in centre or ring 111, the on call 111 GP advised me that my nearest walk in centre was in Loughborough. The enquiries line also has the same recorded message on it. This was an excellent practice pre Covid I have no idea as to why the standard of service has declined so much. I still have not got an appointment. Online appointments that were available for a phone consultation were only available nine days ahead, when you require antibiotics, nine days to wait for an appointment is too long.

Thank you for your feedback I am the Practice Manager at the Medical Unit. We are sorry that you are not happy with the service provided. We do use a message to inform patients of where they can obtain help and advice when all of our available appointments for that day have been booked. We have appointments available to book on the day as well as appointments available for the coming weeks. We release all our online appointments to be prebookable so that they are available to book as soon as we put them on our booking system. When we have used all of our available appointments for that day we will do our best to help patients by directing them to other services provided by the NHS such as walk-in centres or enhanced access services. The walk in centre for the Integrated Care Board that Measham Medical Unit belongs to is located in Loughborough. This is provided for all patients in North West Leicestershire. We are very happy to discuss any problems that patients have with appointments - if you would like to talk to us then please feel free to call on 01530 270667 and ask to speak to myself.
