Rated 5 stars out of 5

My nurse was so kind and made me feel so comfortable and at ease, I was nervous before the appointment but she made me feel relaxed, which I really appreciated it. Thank you

  2. Review titled Dreadful, avoid at all costs

Rated 1 star out of 5

A truly awful practice. By far the worst I have encountered in my life. The people who answer the the phones and on the reception are unmotivated, indifferent and actually rude and insulting on occasions. More than one of these staff have a very poor command of the English language, therefore very poor communication skills and are not fit for the job. It's often difficult to get through and then patients usually have to wait. If you want to make an appointment a patient must be prepared to allow several hours to get through to an operative who is not able to actually make an appointment!!. A long time after COVID restrictions were lifted the staff locked the door and left patients, including pensioners, disabled and sick patients out in the car park with no seating. This was really not acceptable. The Doctor's are polite when a you finally get though with a telephone consultation which no substitute for a face to face consultation. Patients who feel very ill are directed to Torbay hospital A&E department (which is over stretched). This practice falls way below acceptable standards. Mayfield Surgery in Totnes road Paignton urgently requires an unannounced CQC visit, not only for the benefit of the patients but also the Ambulance service and Torbay hospital A&E department.

  3. Review titled Is this GP practice actually still exist? - !

Rated 2 stars out of 5

I have a recurring medical problem that has previously been prescribed medication for, and I required this medication again, but it is not on repeat prescription for me, the informati on the Mayfield web site directs you to a 'dedicated' email address. I have repeatedly sent emails to this 'Dedicated' email address with no response. It didn't bounce back so it obviously isn't incorrect, I checked and rechecked web site and my junk box! I've tried phoning but cant get through. Some other Dr surgery's in the area, reply to every single review, good or bad! But this surgery doesn't to a this is very telling about the overall bad performance of this surgery Verses others in area. As I ask in my review title do they actually still in existaint???

  4. Review titled Such poor practice

Rated 1 star out of 5

In a nutshell, every poor review for Mayfield Medical Centre is correct. Next to impossible to get a prompt response from them, never mind an appointment that directly tackles your problem. You are made to fight for a good service and made to feel your health issues are insignificant and non priority. If they had a better system, minor issues would never have to escalate to the full scale problems they become. So very poor and so disheartening. Really makes you worry what will happen if anything seriously wrong should occur to your health or your loved ones.

  5. Review titled Awful. Avoid at all costs

Rated 1 star out of 5

Waiting six weeks and I haven’t even seen a doctor. ‘Online form… fill in an online form… if you aren’t happy fill in an online form’ It is urgent that I see a doctor, I tell them… ‘fill in an online form’ is the response. I ask ‘can I at least speak to a doctor… I’m pretty sure I have advanced skin cancer’ ‘No. Fill in on online form’. GP = Gate Keepers to enhanced hospital care. A shoddy service!

  6. Review titled Heart monitor

Rated 2 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 05 April 2024

I returned a heart monitor to reception at just gone 15:00, and received a voicemail message from a nurse at 16:30, telling me that I needed to return the monitor before 16:00 so that she can process it for other patients. I went back to the surgery at 16:50 and the heart monitor was still on reception. The receptionist told me that the nurse had 'made a mistake' and hadn't checked at reception before ringing me. I explained about the message from the nurse, which was terse and accusatory, and the receptionist apologised. However the issue was not her fault and if anyone should have apologised, it should have been the nurse. I had delivered the monitor well before 16:00, it was on reception, and was still on reception well after 16:00, even though the nurse's message was that I 'had' to return the monitor by 16:00. I would have provided feedback directly to the surgery however there didn't seem to be a feedback form via the website, hence this feedback here.

  8. Review titled Long Wait.

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Brian Stephens - Posted on 31 January 2024

To Be Short , A Four Week wait for a Phone Consultation. Though a Prescription was Written up for me , even though a GP had never Seen or Spoken to me , it was all done by E. Mail . Hence a Prescription which turned out not fit for Purpose . So I am seeing a Physcio Privately, even though NHS Physcio can speak to me over Zoom, and that’s a wait of 3 weeks . Horrendous, No One To One Contact with These GPs what so ever. And Trying to Get to Mayfields Contact Site , Well The Whole Thing Baffles Me . If they were Running a Bussiness they would have Gone Bankrupt a long time ago. All I can Say is No body Cares and they are Getting Payed by Taxpayers.

  10. Review titled Not fit for purpose

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Brixham Resident - Posted on 28 October 2023

My recent experiences with Mayfield Medical Center has raised significant concerns, particularly for those who are not persistent in seeking care. While the staff at the center is commendably kind and professional, the severe shortage of doctors has created an alarming situation where timely appointments are scarce. This issue not only causes frustration but also puts patients at risk, especially those who do not persistently pursue medical attention. The heart of the problem lies in the difficulties surrounding contacting the center. The constant busyness of phone lines and a lack of efficient online communication options make it arduous to schedule appointments, seek advice, or address urgent medical concerns. Patients who do not persist in their attempts to reach the center are left with no choice but to endure their health issues in silence, hoping that the problems will resolve on their own. This situation is far from ideal, as it forces patients to suffer in silence. For those who do not persist, their conditions may deteriorate to the point where hospitalization becomes necessary. This not only causes unnecessary suffering but also consumes more of the limited resources of the NHS. Mayfield Medical Center needs urgent improvements to ensure timely and efficient healthcare access. The current state of the practice is clearly not aligned with its intended purpose of providing accessible healthcare to the community. The consequences are dire, as people are suffering in silence, leading to avoidable hospitalizations that strain the already burdened NHS. It is my sincere hope that the management of Mayfield Medical Center will take these concerns seriously and work swiftly to rectify these issues. The well-being and health of the community depend on it. The status quo is not acceptable, and I urge immediate action to address these critical issues.
