    Some years ago the only fault I had with Marden were the lengthy periods of sitting patiently in the waiting room as they very rarely ran on time. Nowadays, it’s frustrating and so annoying just to get an appointment as they have a ridiculous system in place that means you can only try - and I do mean try! - to book an appointment on a Thursday or Monday morning. In this digital age why can they not book months ahead as my NHS Dentist does? For those of us who work and do not have a job at a desk with a telephone to hand, aiming to call the Practice the moment it opens (leave it 10 minutes and all the appointments have been taken) is very often not possible. I’ve spoken with colleagues whose GP Practices are in outlying villages and towns, they don’t experience this problem. The problem seems to be with Marden and an inefficient, badly organised system. I recently had blood tests and when I re-ordered my prescriptions one was missing. On contacting Marden to ask if there was a problem, I was informed by the GP via text message that the results showed that that particular drug was no longer required so she hadn’t prescribed it. Would it have been too much to ask that this information had been given before I started chasing it up? This morning I rang to enquire if the other blood results had come back and if i needed to continue with the other medications - I still don’t know! However, the receptionist did inform me that the GP wants to have a routine discussion about one of the blood results and that I needed to book an appointment. Not only is it extremely poor that nobody bothered to inform me of this until I rang but I was unable to make the necessary appointment because it’s not Thursday morning!! I work for the NHS in a very busy Theatre Department and if we ran our Department in this fashion, serious questions would be asked. I hope in the near future to find an alternative Practice with a system in place that actually wants to communicate and see their patients.

Our staff are working hard to provide the best service we can to our patients within the resources that are currently available to General Practice. Primary care is extremely busy at this time along with other parts of the NHS and we do endeavour to meet the needs of our growing patient population in a fair and equitable way balancing urgent requests with providing continuity and long term care. We welcome electronic communication and queries via our e-consultation service and encourage our patients to download and use the NHS app where you can see your notes, letters and surgery test results as well as ordering medications online.     Good Afternoon All, I just want to say thank you for all the help and advice I have received from Marden Medical Practice From Reception managerto my doctors, diabetes nurses and nurses, to other receptionist too. I know at times you must go oh no it’s me again, I apologise for so many different messages I send on the contact us page , however due to my disability and mobility issues I find myself going onto the contact page more often than not, right now also just trying my best to get my diabetes sorted out and slowly we are getting there. Once again I would like to thank all staff members for all their help and support. I can honestly say I’m quite proud of Marden Medical Practice for their cleanliness of surgery and keeping to appointment times as much as they could possibly do. Can I just add please be patient when it comes to appointments as we are all aware the surgeries are all very busy with limited availability on appointments and they will do their upmost to find an appointment for you all. Sorry I’m a bit annoying at times with e consult however I’m very grateful and yet again thank you.

    I was due to go abroad on holiday but my travel insurer cancelled my cover 5 days before travel as I had not had the result of a routine ECG. A care navigator at Marden phoned the cardiology unit at RSH to chase the result and subsequently phoned each day, finally getting an answer the morning before I was due to travel, enabling me to reinstate my cover and go on my holiday. I was very grateful to her for her persistence with the Cardiology unit. It is just one more example of the first class standard of care that I have received from Marden medical Practice this year.

    Had to drop something off for my mum this afternoon and the receptionist was dealing with a frustrated patient. Patient frustration was valid, but she was exceptional! What a credit to the practice. Keep up the good work, she was amazing 👏

    Hi, I just wanted to say that during my appointment I felt listened to, safe and respected. I usually feel quite nervous coming to an appointment but I was made to feel at ease with the Dr and I really appreciate the care and time he took with me. I also wanted to say that all of the reception staff are always so kind both on the telephone and in person. So thank you!

    I am finding it impossible get to an appointment. Early this year I had to go directly and see someone privately as unable to get an appointment and now for a new issue I still can’t. I ring up on multiple days and they’ve all gone. I’ve now been told I can’t ring up now until Monday for an appointment in 1-1.5 weeks if I can actually get one then. I doubt I will. This is a very poor system, I’m concerned for my health care but even more so for more vulnerable patients. I feel I have no option than to change practice.

    I tried to book an appointment today at 9am As I have been told to do before Now I am told that you do not take booking for routine appointments on Fridays If you operated a private company like this l don’t think you would be in business very long

    Dear Patient, We are sorry to hear that you have been disappointed with your recent interaction with us, and can assure you that we strive to get each of our patients the appointment they need Monday to Friday included. However, due to high demand, and in order to make our appointment system as fair as possible to everyone, we do not take bookings for routine appointments more than a week in advance. Of course, if an appointment is urgent or a patient needs to be seen before our next available routine appointment, we will be able to accommodate. There are also extended hours appointments available, pre-bookable through our Care Navigation team here at Marden which are available at evenings and weekends at various surgeries across Shrewsbury (more detail can be found on our website https://mardenpractice.gpsurgery.net).     I’ve received fantastic service from this practice, the staff have always been efficient, approachable, reassuring and helpful with my concerns. After needing follow ups for blood tests and appt was made quickly with access to discuss possible treatments with GP, easing my fears and concerns.
