  1. Review titled Excellent service

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Mike - Posted on 07 December 2023

I have had two experiences recently with the Practice, one face to face and one online. Both these have reinforced my opinion that what an excellent service is provided by staff, both medic and admin at this centre. Keep up the good work, you are appreciated

  2. Review titled Extremely rude

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 04 December 2023

I phoned to register having checked I was in area and that the practice was accepting new patients. The office manager was so rude to me, despite me being quite distressed. She effectively told me to go elsewhere despite the fact I was in area. I feel really upset and let down. No way to treat people.

  3. Review titled Very Busy Practice

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Sharon Bayliss - Posted on 13 October 2023

Despite being busy, having persevered with the engaged tone, the practice was able to take my request for a call back from my gp. The call came through after a short amount of time. After a chat about my condition I was offered an appointment. However at that stage I felt that it would be a waste of their valuable time and decided to wait until after the medication I was prescribed had finished. It was not necessary to contact the doctor again about my problem as it was resolved at that time. This seems to be a good use of valuable gp time. I felt that if it was really necessary to see the doctor I could. Very pleased.

So glad that you were pleased with the care you received. We have now slightly changed our system so that patients can go on to the website and book a telephone call back from 7am which hopefully frees up the phone lines. Thank you for taking the time to add a comment

  4. Review titled Supportive and responsive practice

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Rob George - Posted on 23 September 2023

Marcham Road have responded quickly and effectively to two health problems I've had over the last month or two. All the staff I've engaged with - receptionists, nurses and doctors - have reacted quickly to my phone calls and pointed me in the right direction, whether in the form of telephone consultations or face-to-face appointments, almost always on the same day. Probably more importantly, the advice and interventions I've received have been based on accurate diagnosis and effective treatment. This experience reflects the service I and my family have received from Marcham Road over the last 40+ years.

  5. Review titled Great experience so far in the last 12 months.

Rated 4 stars out of 5

by Awajimitop - Posted on 29 August 2023

Myself and family have personal had good experiences here since we joined last year. It was the inky practise around that opted to take us in when we moved to the area. We usually get appointments within reasonable time and get same day call back appointments. Plus the staff are always nice to us on every visit. I hope this good experience continues.

  6. Review titled Great Practice

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Amanda Dudhill - Posted on 28 July 2023

Friendly receptionists quickly dealt with my requests. A very helpful and informative chat with a doctor followed. I attended for some routine screening and blood tests with a practice nurse who was welcoming, professional, accommodating and above all very gentle. A very positive experience, thank you all!

  7. Review titled Unhelpful and rude reception and admin team

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 06 February 2023

While the doctors are exceptional, they are let down by their rude and unhelpful reception and admin team. For the last 18 months I have had ongoing problems with this practice. The receptionist did not even update my records saying that I needed a call back from the nurse and when I called back after 24 hours to ask about the call, there was no record. They are obstructive, rude and unhelpful, making it often impossible to get an appointment. It appears that they are medically trained and have the right to decide whether I need to speak to a doctor or not, when they are simply admin staff. When I finally spoke to a doctor, they were really unhappy. It is still a problem.

  8. Review titled Thank you

Rated 5 stars out of 5

Thank you so much for seeing my daughter at such short notice. She has just moved to the area and needed antibiotics urgently. Your staff were so kind and helpful. As a mum of a young women who has just moved to a new county miles away I was so worried. Your reception staff were excellent, they got her registered and a doctor called the same day. Brilliant service. Thank you

  9. Review titled Rude and unhelpful - avoid!

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Julie Bolitho - Posted on 07 November 2022

I truly cannot express how much I loathe this practice--solely based on the reception, pharmacy and admin teams. I've been with the practice for 15 years and while the doctors are generally good (and the midwives based there are amazing!), the admin team seem hellbent on making patient lives as difficult as possible. I've had repeated problems with prescription requests for required daily medication that has reached comic proportions now. Current example: At four months pregnant, the practice could not supply a required daily medication that I take due to having had cancer as a young person. Rather than let me know that they had supply issues, I had to come into the practice a week later to discover this... and all other local pharmacies were having the same supply issues. It happened to coincide with the Queen's funeral weekend and in the end, I was without my medication for six days and feeling wretched and worried as a result. 111 doctors insisted that I ask for a three-month prescription of this medication in the future given that I have now had supply issues with this medication four times since Brexit. Marcham Road refuses to prescribe more than one month at a time despite this ongoing supply debacle and request of 111 doctors because it is 'their policy'. Funny enough, without me saying anything, a trainee midwife in Wantage asked where my GP practice was based and when I said 'Marcham Road', she literally shuttered and said, 'Ooh. They really aren't the nicest there, are they'? I laughed and told her that she made me feel so much better because it meant that it wasn't just me (which is obvious based on all the other reviews here anyway). Adding insult to injury, making an appointment here is often difficult and I just cannot understand how this practice even remotely functions. As my regular GP has retired, despite being in the middle of a pregnancy, I am now trying to switch practices as I can no longer stand the negativity and frequent problem-making attitude of the administration, pharmacy and reception teams. There is just a constant dark cloud over this practice and I dread every time I have to interact with them. Shame--deep shame--on this practice. Truly.
