  1. Review titled Fantastic Family Practice

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Mrs Kate Pope - Posted on 01 August 2024

I cannot praise this practice highly enough. Kind, patient, helpful and supportive from the reception staff through to the Drs themselves. I am grateful to have this service locally. We were seen over Christmas, short notice and the Dr took the time out to explain to us how we could move forward and manage a difficult health condition and ever since they have always been available to help with both admin and treatment with no stress or delay. Can't thank them enough for helping us.

  2. Review titled Extremely unhelpful practice

Rated 1 star out of 5

First impressions of this practice is of a building and car park that us in urgent need of major surgery. I had my annual review and was informed by the doctor that I had suffered a heart attack back in October 2023. This wasn't the case and I can only think the doctor couldn't read my notes or didn't understand the medical terminology. My wife has submitted tests for analysis which have gone missing, they blame the computer. My wife had a telephone appointment with one of the doctors who was blunt and unsympathetic. When we visited the surgery very recently for some urgent assistance and immediate help we were sent away with a urine sample bottle by the receptionist. When we first joined my wife asked for a repeat prescription which we had been granted by our previous practice and was refused by the receptionist who said 'just because you had it at your previous practice doesn't mean you can have it here'. Who is running the place the receptionists or the doctors? It's impossible to get a face to face appointment, little wonder the A&E's are overstretched. I get the impression that patients are an awful inconvenience. We will be seeking a new caring practice asap.

  3. Review titled doctors not interested and certainly do not follow up.

Rated 1 star out of 5

Impossible to see a doctor. The big recurring words are Paramedic, or Triage team. doctors must be hiding? and after finally getting the e consult done ( not easy when you don't feel well) , the non doctor person starts the conversation with ' how can I help, please tell me what the problem is' having not bothered to read all the info on the detailed e consult. Some great doctors, but they don't stay. Only the bad ones stay. and the actual house is filthy. No point talking with the practice manager, nothing changes, only gets worse. and after insisting to see a doctor, you get sent to another centre where you see a nurse. Complete collapse of a once good practice that sits on past , olden days achievements. Wake up please, and do better

Rated 5 stars out of 5

Easily contacted practice on phone. GP called back later for info and to arrange face to face appointment on same day. Good consultation with problem diagnosed and necessary prescription sent to local pharmacy. All very efficient.

  6. Review titled Sad decline!

Rated 2 stars out of 5

by Perry - Posted on 20 April 2023

Such a shame! This doctors used to be at its finest. Great doctors and knowledgeable. However getting an appointment with the doctor who knows you and your symptoms is now out of the question. I think it’s made so hard that you leave your symptoms and then you become so poorly you end up in A&E for immediate attention because that’s the only way you can get to see someone. I just don’t understand why post Covid it still operates like this? If you phone to book an appointment you are told to go on line. And then when you do go on line you cannot request the doctor of your choice it’s triaged. It’s such a sad downfall for what was a very efficient doctors surgery who you trusted.

Thank you for your review. I am sorry to hear that you have had this experience. Making sure patients get appropriate patient care is important to use here at Magnolia House Surgery. All of our routine appointments are triaged through the e-consult system, if you pop at the end of the e-consult that you would like to see a specific GP we try our best to accommodate this however if they are fully booked, on annual leave or long term sick leave we may have to book your appointment with someone else. We currently now have an average of a week wait time for a routine appointment, and more capacity has been made for on-the-day needs of our patients. If you need any assistance booking in an appointment with the GP of your liking please do call the main line and I would be happy to help. Kind regards, Nadine Acting Practice Manager

  7. Review titled Not sure why the high standards have fallen

Rated 2 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 03 January 2023

This was once a very good practice. Unfortunately post Covid the surgery has not resumed service as before. There is no way now to book an appointment. You must complete an assessment form online and then a doctor may call you during the next two days. Unfortunately if you are working, there is no way to know when the doctor will call and no number to call back if you miss the call. Not sure why this method has been used post covid as other surgeries such as the Lightwater Surgery are allowing appointment booking.

Dear patient, Thank you for your feedback and I am sorry to hear about your recent experience. Our systems have changed over the last few years to help meet patient demand as well as to adapt to an ever changing environment. The eConsult system allows patients who are able to, to complete an online triage form and a response is given within 2 working days by the most appropriate clinician. We try our best to give an indication as to the date and time the clinician will call if this is required and will always call a patient back if they miss a call as we know it isn't always possible to answer. If you would like to discuss your comments further, please contact the Practice Manager who would be happy to discuss this with you. Kind regards Magnolia House Surgery

  8. Review titled Reassuring and Patient

Rated 4 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 14 November 2022

We were about to move house and I needed to look at options for our NHS GP. I called this practice. As we are a vulnerable family (post a transplant) I was nervous about just moving. The person I spoke to was kind, patient and reassuring. We discussed how to prioritise the needs around the transplant etc. I am comforted by the engagement and experience.
