  2. Review titled Unable to get appointment

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 30 August 2024

I have been unable to get a GP appointment after calling 2 mornings at 8M to be told there are no appointments. Iwas advised to fill in the get help form for an appointment but you get given a random day and time so can't confirm that you can make it. Then have to fill in a form again to see if the next random appointment works. The hospital have said my daughter needs to see a GP but it is a very stressful process to try and get an appointment. It's been a week of trying now and still no appointment we can get to.

Dear patient, Thank you for taking the time to provide us with your feedback. We are sorry to hear that you have had a negative experience whilst trying to obtain an appointment for your daughter through out Get Help forms and has been stressful for you. We have taken this feedback on board and we now enable patients to respond to the confirmation text message so that if the appointment is not suitable you can make this known to the staff and we will attempt to rearrange this for a more suitable time without the need to re-submit the form. We are again sorry for your experience but hope that this action will prevent further frustration for you when booking future appointments with us. Thank you again for your feedback. Kind regards, Lion Health.

  4. Review titled Administration at Lion Health

Rated 2 stars out of 5

I tried, unsuccessfully, to access Get Help facility today. This is a great service but tonight - Monday 5/8/2024 when it was supposed to be accessible between 19:30 and 20:00 form was unavailable. This service is offered as avaialable 19:30-20:00 from Monday to Thursday, my experience is that tonight, Monday 5/8/2024 this service was not available between this time frame. Something as simple as maintaining this computerised service seems to be out of the gambit of the administrative side of Lion Health. Why is the administrative arm of Lion Health letting down this previously very good GP practice?

Thank you for taking the time to provide us with feedback. We take into account both positive and constructive feedback which helps to inform future practice decisions. We are sorry to hear that you experienced difficulty in accessing our 'Get Help' forms through our website. We have looked into this and have found that our forms were working correctly as we did have a form submission come through to us during those hours Monday 5th August, this has also been tested and confirmed by our form provider. We have contacted our forms provider in order to investigate what could have gone wrong in order to help us understand how we can assist patients who are experiencing difficulties with the form despite it functioning correctly on our end. They have suggested that in order to investigate, they would need some further information from yourself. If you would like to find out more about this issue you experienced please feel free to contact the surgery. We hope that we can help you further with this issue and hope that this has reassured you that our administrative team are always happy to assist you with your queries and look into any issues you may experience when trying to access health services. Kind regards, Lion Health.

  5. Review titled Unsympathetic Over Needle Phobia

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 27 June 2024

I’m being forced into a blood test even through have a needle phobia. As I was told by two receptionists on the phone if I don’t my medication will be reduced and stopped. Both had no care with how bad I am with having a blood test and really it’s peer pressure/ forcible methods. It’s not that I don’t want a blood test because something is wrong with me when nothing at all is wrong as I’m in perfectly good health but it’s just a needle phobia I have that stops me due to a very bad experience I had that no one seems to understand. Better measures should be put into place to help people like me not have a needle stuck in them as other ways can be done to have a blood test. This is not a very caring and understanding way to treat me with what I’ve got. I can’t have my medication reduced or stopped due to the health conditions I’ve got.

Dear patient, Firstly, thank you for taking the time to provide us with feedback. We take both positive and constructive feedback into consideration and utilise this to inform future practice decisions. We are sorry to hear that you have had a negative experience with us and that you felt the response to your concerns regarding you needle phobia were unsympathetic. Whilst we can appreciate that having such a phobia can be extremely difficult when it comes to having to have blood tests, there are no alternative methods we offer that are as effective and ensure we can offer you the best health advice and/or treatment. We encourage patients to inform staff of concerns over medical procedure, as you have done, and then we can offer certain routes to make the experience as comfortable as can possibly be, such as informing the clinician so that they are aware and being able to bring someone into the test with you. The staff and practice want to make sure that you continue to be on the appropriate medication and dosage, the way in which we do this can be through blood tests to monitor and maintain health. Again, thank you for taking the time and providing us with your feedback. Kind regards, Lion Health.

  6. Review titled Great practice

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Georgia - Posted on 29 May 2024

I luckily don’t need to see a gp often, however each time including most recently I have found the booking process easy, consultations with two doctors very thorough and not rushed. Today I have seen the practice nurse for an asthma review as requested by gp, the nurse was kind and thorough in her assessment and treatment. Both the doctors who initially saw me in March and practice nurse today were very helpful and I would always recommend this practice.

  7. Review titled Poor communication with reception staff

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Rebecca - Posted on 18 April 2024

Had a call from the receptionist asking to see my child for a face to face appointment after having blood tests, I arranged an appointment for the following day. I got to the practice and booked in to be told the appointment was accidentally booked as a telephone consultation instead of a face to face. Luckily I spoke to the doctor who arranged for the appointment and she commented that this was an error with the booking team and I would need to re-book for the following week. This is absolutely frustrating and a complete waste of time for myself, my child and the practice. I spoke with the Practice Manager who offered apologies and was quite pleasant and took the time to listen to my complaint however this does not help my current situation. Getting an appointment is hard enough but to turn up and be told we cant see you today is ridiculous.

Dear Patient, Thank you for taking the time to provide us with feedback, the Surgery always takes into account both positive and constructive feedback. We are sorry to hear that you have had difficulty in obtaining an appointment as you mention you have tried on three occasions. Although we advise patients to ring up at 8am on the dot, it will ultimately depend on demand and how many patients are in the queue on the phone lines who also require appointments. We also recommend looking at online bookable appointments via Patient Access or the NHS App as well as in cases of non-urgent medical enquiries using our ‘Get Help’ form which staff will aim to respond within 2 days of the form being submitted. If there are no appointments available with a Doctor, we always aim to provide appointments with a variety of health care professionals who are also qualified and able to provide appropriate care. This can include Advanced Nurse Practitioners who are prescribers as well as Physicians Associates and Paramedics and in house Pharmacists some of whom are able to prescribe as well. Thank you again for your feedback, we aim to use constructive feedback to inform future Practice decisions. Lion Health

  9. Review titled Great service

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Rakesh Mudgal - Posted on 08 March 2024

I sustained significant retinal tear in my right eye recently when I also came to know that I was mildly hypertensive. I received excellent care for the retinal tear at the Russells Hall hospital and my GP at Lion Health practice quickly arranged investigations for me including 24 hour ambulatory blood pressure monitoring in two weeks from the date of request. My GP, who I am not allowed to name here, has always endeavoured to provide prompt and compassionate care as long as my wife and I have been under his care. We are grateful to him and the rest of the team at Lion Health for the excellent service they provide in difficult circumstances and high demand most of the time.

  10. Review titled A forgotten patient

Rated 1 star out of 5

    by N Croft - Posted on 07 March 2024

Having had prostate cancer and a heart attack , I am supposed to have an annual review of meds and health following blood test results. The systems and work practices at Lion Health have reduced and diluted to the point where there is utter confusion in this practice. I had a call from a young lady (note not a Doctor) in early January to conduct a review of my meds and health. She had no idea I have to have psa blood tests etc, before any meaningful review could take place! So after the blood tests were done I had another call to say 'Blood tests are normal' When challenged on where the results lay within the range of normal, it appears I am on the very high end of normal for blood sugar. The same young lady couldn't give advice on this result. Moving on to early March I was given another appointment for the same med review! Only to receive a text saying oops this has already been done. I've received no contact from a doctor for help and advice on my high blood sugar levels despite Diabetes being prevalent in my family or any discussion on any of my blood test results. I really do believe I'm a forgotten patient, only to be contacted when my health deteriorates to the point of needing urgent medical intervention. Visiting the surgery to collect meds shows empty waiting rooms. Just what are Doctors doing now? Clearly seeing patients is no longer one of their activities.

Dear N Croft, Thank you for taking the time to feedback on your experience, we are sorry that it was a negative one which ultimately led to you feeling like a forgotten patient. We have an array of primary care health professionals who are each trained and specialised in their field so we would firstly like to reassure you that although your care may not involve a Doctor directly, you will be directed to a health professional who can provide appropriate care. We always try to provide patients with as much care and advice in order to manage their health conditions. There is limited advice we could provide regarding a blood result which has come back within the range of ‘normal’ however there is lots of useful advice on the NHS website and the Practice staff always recommend to patients that if they feel they have gotten worse to get back in touch. In regards to your comments about empty waiting rooms although this may have been your experience at the time of collecting medication, we assure you that our staff work extremely hard to ensure all patients are provided the care they need, this also includes home visits for housebound patients, online and telephone consultations for those who cannot come into the Surgery but require care as well as patients who come into the Practice itself. Once again thank you for taking the time to provide us with feedback we take all patient feedback into account when looking at future Practice decisions. Yours Sincerely, Lion health
