  1. Review titled Excellent patient service and communication

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Sudhir Patel - Posted on 23 August 2024

My mum needed some assistance with mobility while I was here. I reached out via the portal and very soon I received a message followed by a way to get my mum's request submitted. I had multiple follow up emails with the person helping, the replies and responses and additional help were nothing short of stellar. Great experience, keep doing what you guys do. Sincerely.

  2. Review titled Results of blood tests

Rated 3 stars out of 5

by Kay Van Staden - Posted on 21 August 2024

I got my blood test results today, I am disappointed as I was told that my cholesterol levels are elevated and when compared by the last results they have gone down by .5? I had my test at 2.30pm, I had breakfast and lunch by that time I don't know if that was taken into consideration? I was put onto statins and I did say I would try them as the last one I had gave me bad aches in my joints, unfortunately the new statins did the same, I got aches in my joints again! I think instead of telling me I should go back onto the statins that were prescribed for me...there must be an alternative?

  3. Review titled Excellent Care

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Vicki - Posted on 23 August 2024

I rang the surgery 4 weeks ago to let my doctor know I’d had to start the standby antibiotics because the diverticulitis had flared up. I have them ready at home just in case because I’ve had this condition for over 20 years. I usually manage to control it without needing the antibiotics but I was very worried about how poorly I was feeling and that I live on my own. The receptionist arranged for someone to ring me back within an hour and she talked through all my symptoms and assessed if I needed to go to hospital. Then she said a nurse would ring again the next morning to see how I was. Two more nurses rang over the next two days and again asked lots of questions to assess how I was and suggested I go in to see them. This care was outstanding and so reassuring during a very worrying time. Luckily, the antibiotics worked and I’m starting to feel better. Also, I want to thank the lady from the Social Prescribers Team who rang a few days later to give me the name of a website she’d found with information about diverticulitis and a Facebook group I could join. She also asked my doctor’s receptionist to ring me to book my routine blood tests. What an excellent service from everyone. Thank you so much.

  4. Review titled First class service and communication

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Patricia - Posted on 21 July 2024

Having had appointments during the last few months with the social practitioner team I'm very very happy with the face to face appointments I've had with no problem whatsoever making the appointments. Im so grateful for the time they have given me, helping filling in forms, listening to me and helping me to see my way forward with the stresses of life. I really don't know what I'd do without them. Thank you so much to those who at the surgery suggested I speak to them and to those who have helped me to see my way forward. Very professional, excellent and efficient service. Thank you Latham House and all those involved in my care.

  5. Review titled Frustrated!

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Chloe Waite - Posted on 23 May 2024

I have been trying to get help for my high Blood Pressure for over a month now. I am constantly passed around and around in circles. Different staff members interact with me every time I get in touch and tell me conflicting and confusing advice. No one seems to bother looking at my notes when they speak to me, so they talk to me like it’s the first time I’ve contacted them about the problem each time. I constantly have to repeat everything that’s been going on. I ask a simple question about the medication I have been prescribed and was told someone would answer me in 8 weeks! I’m missing so much work as I’m not receiving adequate help which is causing me a lot of stress. I’m so frustrated by the lack of consistent care.

  6. Review titled Terrible service

Rated 2 stars out of 5

by Paul Cooper - Posted on 18 March 2024

I filled in a appointment form on Friday morning had no reply so telephoned & was told no one could see me & go to loughborough. I did get a call Monday morning after filling in another form that lasted 3 seconds obviously I didn't manage it as I'm in bed. So tried to call / fill in a form but it was oversubscribed & closed. This is a poor service struggling to cope with an increasing population that will only get worse. If I'd have been able to speak to a nurse Friday it could have been solved

Rated 4 stars out of 5

It was a once only visit all over in 30 minutes. I am a patient at Syston and was only there for a single injection in and out with the doctor in two minutes.

  9. Review titled Appalling service

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 17 October 2023

Having been for investigations at hospital I called in to book an appointment to review the test results with a doctor as one of the results came back as likely to be cancer. I was met by an uninterested receptionist who looked like she really didn't want to be there! I was told I could see my own doctor in 7 weeks time or a random doctor in 3 weeks. That's an appalling wait for anyone feeling ill let alone anyone with a serious health condition!

Our aim is to provide a routine GP appointment within two weeks. Immediate or urgent concerns are handled on the day. 10. Review titled Terrible experience

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 24 August 2023

I went to the doctors this morning and was greeted with a 40 minute wait. This was following a total of 6 weeks waiting for an appointment in the first place. I also had my appointment cancelled 3 days prior. Despite all this I was expecting a satisfactory experience. The doctor I saw told me I had 10 minutes the moment I walked in, which taking into account the 40 minute wait, was unacceptable. He spoke over me the whole time, interrupting me trying to voice my problems before I’d even had the chance to say them. He shut down what I hoped for after suffering for weeks waiting for the appointment, and sent me on a wild goose chase of things to do, overcomplicating the situation which had a simple outcome. He almost seemed like he didn’t believe my problems. He told me all the things I should have done beforehand, which I informed him I had done, to which he ignored and spoke over me again. This doctor was extremely unprofessional and arrogant, clearly offended I’d dared to walk into his room and voice my problems.

We are sincerely sorry to read your feedback on your experience at the Practice but would like to opportunity to investigate this for you. If agreeable, please get in touch with us direct to enable us to follow this up. We are sincerely sorry to those patients who have been experiencing a significant delay in accessing their GP for a routine appointment. Our aim is to provide patients with a routine appointment within two weeks but ongoing clinical vacancies, staff absence, public holidays, industry strikes, and increased demand are resulting in significantly longer wait times. The demand on Primary Care services has increased significantly both in terms of the numbers of consultations and the length of the consultations taking place. Along with the increased demand to see GP’s, the complexity of patients’ problems has also increased, which in turn has seen the average attendance to the Practice more than double versus previous years. Various NHS studies show that people aged 50 or over are now presenting with two or more long term conditions which require a complex management from the whole clinical team but largely managed by the GP. This in turn requires more medicine management which can rarely be managed during a typical 10-minute consultation. If clinics are running late, your GP will work to try to reduce this delay by stating the consultation time to try to manage expectations. We are sincerely sorry if this was interpreted in a negative way. We hope to hear from you.
