My appointment on 29th Aug spokento a Locum Doctor who was very good. My encounters with Langstone Way Surgery has been mainly positive and despite the added pressures they are facing with increasing population in the area and limited staff I found the surgery to be empathetic and understanding to my health needs especially this past year. Thank You to the Partner Doctors and Reception Staff/Management

We have had trouble to make an appointment to see the doctor last five years, very disappointed. So, it was first time I made an appointment to the clinic since August 2019. Finally I saw the doctor who explained the reason, too many patients and the funding been cut off 50%. I have accepted this explanation. The doctor is a very good doctor who is my GP over ten years. He has solved my problems as usually professionally efficiently this time.

Thank you for taking the time to complete a review for us and for your feedback. Unfortunately, things have indeed changed significantly since 2019 in primary care. We continue to do our best to provide as efficient a service as we are able, but are indeed working with constrictions that were not present in past years. We are very pleased that your issue was dealt with efficiently by the doctor you saw, but apologise that obtaining an appointment is no longer as easy as it used to be. We keep our appointments system under review and make improvements wherever and whenever we can.

Needed to get a medication reinstated which had been removed without consent and both receptionists were extremely helpful to me when I attended the surgery. The GP dealt with the problem and is a credit to the practice. The reinstatement was done along with a prescription being sent to the chemist immediately for me to collect. I cannot fault this surgery when health needs are of paramount importance.

Not a frequent visitor to the practice, visits have been for the occasional check ups. Have never had a reason to complain. My recent experience wasn’t a great one sadly. I was in for a smear test ( have had several before) which turned out to be a pretty painful experience. The nurse left me with an instrument lodged in, which caused tremendous discomfort and pain. She then went looking for something. Rummaging through drawers. I had to make her aware that I was in pain. The test was then completed. Wish she had taken a little more care.

I left a message about a problem that I had and a message was sent back to me fairly quickly. The same afternoon not one but 2 doctors called. Resulting in a good outcome

Trying to get an appointment at our surgery is very difficult I needed to call 111 originally to get seen by the doctor. The doctor was great did all checks that’s was needed and took his time with understanding. He also looked into past tests I had done and treated me for this.

Thank you for your review. I am glad that the doctor was able to assist. We are aware of the strong competition to book appointments at the moment and are providing as many appointments as we can and as many ways to book one as possible. The appointments system is aso kept under review in case further improvements can be made.

As always I was attended to by a very good female gp assistant. She collected my notes after carefully listening to me and giving me good time She then explained the background of my condition to me and told me how I would be helped She then told me that a referral would be sent to me in 2 to 3 weeks and I'm still awaiting the same She also asked a few times if I needed stronger pain killers etc to ease the pain but I refused She then bid farewell and apparently went to the GP's office I was then contacted via text asap for a letter so that i am ok to wear alternative footwear Over all I was very satisfied with the whole experience and really do hope that I receive the referral soon as the pain is near the stage of unbearable Thank you for your care and concern madam

The nurse was lovely, but it took her ages to work the computer, and she gave me no information on how to reduce my weight, what to eat I really don’t want to look on line

Dear Gina, Thank you for your review. Unfortunately the computer system provided is quite slow, so this is unlikely to have been the fault of the nurse. I am sorry if she did not advise you on weight reduction options. We do not have a nutritionist on the staff unfortunately, but there is NHS diet advice on-line. Used to be really good but since Covid they don't take appointment at front desk anymore and don't do advance appointment either. Have to make appointment online on the day only at 8am and 1pm. Tried it but getting no where. How are anyone supposed to get an appointment? How can we complaint about this.

Thank you for your comments. We no longer make appointments at the reception desk, but instead only via on-line or telephone requests, so as to be fair to all patients, some of whom find it difficult to come in in person. With an increased volume of patient requests, increased list size, but reduced funding to GP services and hence fewer staff than we were able to have in past years, time is now having to be used more efficiently to help as many people as we can with reduced resources in the same amount of time. Hence we now use telephone triage to prioritise those with the most urgent problems and to be able to deal with simple problems more quickly. We also no longer book appointments in advance as more than a quarter of these were being wasted due to non-attendance and failure to cancel, so that they could be utilised by other patients. You can complain to the surgery in person at the surgery and fill out a complaint form or you can access one via our website and email this to us. We are however doing all we can with the resources we have to help as many people as we are able in the time available.
