Review titled Inefficient
Rated 2 stars out of 5
by Lyn - Posted on 06 March 2023
A letter updating treatment was sent to the surgery by my private consultant in December which contained details of a prescription on calling at the surgery I was advised that they were behind with scanning. This means that my medical file isn’t up to date. Should there be an emergency therefore the doctor will be unaware of the consultant’s recommendations. reception were extremely unhelpful when I asked what I could do. I have attended this surgery in excess of 10 years and the level of patient care has decreased to an unacceptable level

Finally phoned to day number one in queue 20 minute's to answer, why not limit calls to 3 minute's Or get the practice manger to answer some.

Review titled Can't contact the practice or total triage
Rated 3 stars out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 13 March 2024
Tried ringing many times on 12 March 2024. Message on phone said the surgery was closed even though the website said it was open!! Tried to make a request on total triage at 13 March 2024 at 10:15 but that was closed as "We've paused access to online queries as we have reached the maximum and safe limit for the day. 📅 We will be open again tomorrow". Rang the surgery to talk to the prescribing team but receptionist said they weren't answering the phone. Impossible to get through to anyone - just trying to get a pain relief prescription for my elderley mum.

Review titled Suggestion
Rated 2 stars out of 5
by Colin E - Posted on 03 March 2023
Can you please consider an (outside) postbox for paper repeat prescriptions otherwise people have to rely on opening hours to hand in. If not, at least a tray for them inside to save queueing. Last two timeshad to queue to just leave a repeat.

Review titled Absolutley Shocking
Rated 1 star out of 5
by TonyB - Posted on 06 February 2023
Not sure if this review is going to have any impact at all. However, I have just spent over two hours on the phone simply to book an appointment for a medication review. When I finally got through, I only spent a couple of minutes on the phone. Clearly there is only one person dealing with incoming phone calls. This is the most appalling service I have ever encountered anywhere, anytime.

Review titled Patients feel unwelcome
Rated 1 star out of 5

Can’t fault the doctors and nurses but the administration staff at Marymead need to take a course on good manners they are Rude patronising and lack compassion and now you are not allowed to pop in to ask question as reception is boarded up which is absolutely crazy for a Doctors surgery. Can’t get through to book an appointment. Knebworth surgery however is a lot better and you can actually speak to friendly receptionist in person.

Review titled What has happened to Knebworth Surgery?
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 25 February 2023
I have been a patient of the surgery for the last 9 years. Virtually as soon as they moved the Practice to the new, purpose built building - I can't get appointments to see my Gp. I have spent several hours trying to get through to the Surgery - at 8am, as you have to if you need an appointment with a Gp - or even a prescribing Nurse. Then you still don't get one! Either because "They've all been booked up, and no, I can't book you one for tomorrow! Sorry, you'll have to ring back at 8am tomorrow!" Now, I am guessing that the real reason is that Knebworth Surgery - which now has a Waiting Room capacity for at least 50 patients (as opposed to Station Road's 15 if you were lucky!), is actually usually pretty much empty, - because there are only 2 part - time Gp'sworking there! So, from the Station Road site's at least 4 or 5 Gp's - most of whom I believe were full time, it has shrank dramatically in the number of patients they are capable of seeing. This, perhaps wouldn't be too bad - if the population of Knebworth and it's surrounding cachement area had dramatically shrunk. Unfortunately the complete opposite has happened - A huge new number of patients (all retirement age, and over) must have / be in the process of registering as new patients - from the new Residential Home in the High Street, from the other Residential Home on London Road, and all of the other new properties which are / are being proposed to be built in and around Knebworth! I understand that the original Office Manager has now left the practice (probably had enough of being shouted at!), but 2 New "Management Consultants" have been appointed. I have just One question for them - "What are you actually doing?! What I mean is basically Why does Knebworth Surgery only now have 2 part-time Gp's and virtually No Availability, whilst the erm, other part of the practice (and indeed rather strangely, where the Head of the Practice is based) have at least double the number of Gp's? They have a waiting room for ooh, at least 10 patients (or less), and the last time I was forced to get there for an appointment, which could not be booked by The Knebworth surgery, the actual Reception had been deliberately Boarded Up! (I am sorry for saying this, but the place reminds me of those old Council Toilets which were boarded up to try and prevent Vandalism!) Now I realise, and apologise to, some residents of Marymead, but there are several other Gp Surgeries in the same area - the closest I think is less than half a mile away. I am not suggesting that every patient who uses the surgery will have suitable transport to get them there - but actually neither have I, to make the far longer trip from Knebworth! So,I would just like to ask (The head of the entire practice, and the new Managers - Why build a new building to be capable of receiving the number of patients who would desperately (read all the other reviews) love to be able to actually see a Gp or Nurse without needing to travel to MMead?

Review titled Doctors are great, reception is a nightmare
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Gary - Posted on 05 January 2023
I spoke with a nurse today and she was fantastic, however i needed a same day appointment/check up. When i put the phone down i realised (split second) the time was wrong and i needed to amend it. I was on hold (13 callers in front of me) for 1 hour and 40 minutes. by the time i spoke to anyone all slots had been booked, and the appointment couldn't be changed. The patronising tone of the receptionist has done nothing to help my blood pressure in this situation. While she was quick to point out i should make a complaint to the management team, this does nothing to help with my physical needs of why i need a doctors in the first place. This has now happened multiple times (long telephone wait ques for zero help from reception) that take multiple hours to deal with minimal calls, its easier to just ring 111 than use this doctors service.

Review titled Absolutely shocking
Rated 1 star out of 5

Trying to contact this surgery by phone has become an absolute nightmare. My wife and I are both utterly appalled at the length of time it takes the surgery to answer calls. We expect a bit of a delay ar 8 am but today I was left hearing ‘ how important my call is to them’ for 45 minutes. I was number 5 in the queue when I joined it so, on average, each call takes them over 9 minutes to respond. This is a common experience and we find ourselves wondering how we’d cope if we really needed attention or was to I’ll to hang on. Worst thing is, we’re not even convinced the surgery care enough to do something about it. That’s seems apparent when you walk into the Marymead surgery only to find that the reception window has been boarded up - that, to me, seems to leave the message that you’re almost not welcome there anymore. I’d very much like to hear if the surgery manager is managing the totally unacceptable telephone response times and why they think boarding up the reception window was a good idea to them. Clearly I’m not alone at voicing my dissatisfaction of the patient interface arrangements they’ve adopted as I’ve just read the other surgery reviews and they don’t paint a glossy picture either. Would love to hear your response but actually, given your service levels of late, I won’t hold my breath.

I won’t waste my breath leaving a review as nothing ever gets done. All in all I’ve spent over 3 hours waiting on the phone the last time being cut off after waiting 1.5 hours
