  1. Review titled Terrible: almost impossible to book an appointment

Rated 2 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 21 December 2023

Not enough staff to cover influx of patients. This is evident due to how long it can take to speak with a GP, I have tried for a week to get just a chance to speak to a receptionist let alone book an appointment, may consider changing practice.

Dear Patient, thank you for your feedback, my name is Mrs Ryder one of the management team. I am sorry that you have had an issue contacting a receptionist which would then have directed you to a call with a GP. We are extra busy this week in the run up to the Christmas break, we have only been offering book on the day appts to try and best treat those with acute issues than reviews. On the phone system we do offer a call back facility - once you reach a certain number in the queue you can request the call back and then it automatically calls once you are at the front of the queue. We also ensure all calls are cleared and no one left waiting in the queue. Sorry you feel you may consider changing practice. Kind Regards Mrs A Ryder

  2. Review titled Ignored for ages at reception

Rated 2 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 07 December 2023

All I wanted to do was to leave a consent letter. I stood at reception for 5 minutes and was ignored by both reception staff. So I had to say excuse me, I asked what I had to do with the letter, she said just put it there without making eye contact. Really unfriendly service.

Dear patient Thank you for your feedback, my name is Mrs Ryder and I am one of the 3 managers across the King Street surgery sites. I am sorry for your recent experience whereby you felt the receptionists ignored you. I would be interested to know which of our 3 sites you visited and the time and date so that I can speak with the staff on duty at that time. Please send this information over to myself via email alison.ryder4@nhs.net and I can look in to this for you Kind Regards Alison Ryder

  3. Review titled Why can appointments not be made on line?

Rated 3 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 18 September 2023

Sometimes an appt is needed but not immediately. Why is there no facility to book a future appt on line. The NHS web site looks like it is set up to do this, but not here yet?

Dear Patient Thank you for your feedback. We are looking in to offering online appointments. We would only be able to offer GP appts up to 2 weeks ahead due to national guidance. We also need to ensure that if we offer appts online that these are tailored for patients to book efficiently, eg our minor illness nurses are available when a GP is not always the right person to see the patient. We will be looking in to setting up the system Kind regards A Ryder Management Team

  4. Review titled Appointments

Rated 2 stars out of 5

It is very hard to get an appointment on the phone even if you call at 08:30. I did this and was in a queue of in excess of 30 people. When I got through they were very helpful and the treatment I received was good.

  5. Review titled E-consultations

Rated 4 stars out of 5

This is a highly effective and well structured process used by the surgery. It is an efficient use of everyone’s time - patients and professionals. I was very impressed by this system and the responsive and constructive response from the GP concerned. Please keep this system in place as an option for your patients. It reduces stress for everyone.

  10. Review titled Extremely poor attitude to the patient

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Iwona Kowalewska - Posted on 20 June 2023

GP makes myself and my friend anxious. I have been there to translate to my friend as he does not speak English. The whole appoitment time was 11minutes and 5 seconds. GP repeted several times that we can speak only about 2 health issues at the appoitment. We raised 2 health issues and disscuss about this. The last thing which we wanted to ask why the referal from GP to the hospital did not arrive? GP send a referral at the end of May but the Hospital did not receive it. GP was agruing that we alredy spoke about 2 issues and he did not want to help us to chase up referal even thought was not health issue. Moreover, GP spends more than 1,5 minutes on his computer which was stucked. It is not patients issue .. this is computer issue which stolen the patient valuable time with GP. Overall the quality, emphaty and professional of this GP is very poor. I do not recommend King Street Surgery if you seroiusly careing about own health.

Dear Iwona Thank you for your feedback, my name is Mrs Ryder and I am part of the management team. We do offer a full translation service and try to discourage patients from bringing along friends and family to translate for them. Our GPs try to keep to their timings for appointments which is why they restrict it to 2 health matters. I understand that you feel the GP did not help with chasing the referral letter and that they had some technical issues with the computer. We offer an online consultation service via our website called econsult and this would be an opportunity for you to submit your query. We are sorry you felt the GP was not professional and we do pride ourselves on being a caring practice. Mrs Ryder Management team
