    Due to a system update, patients have been denied access to a non-urgent pre-bookable medical appointment for over 3 weeks and yet the practice seem to think this is acceptable and won't be challenged.

    Thank you for your feedback, we are very sorry you have had difficulty in booking an appointment. We did experience significant workload and appointment pressures in the period up to middle / end of February 2023. On 27th February 2023 we introduced a new appointment system in a hope to remedy this and improve appointment access for our patients. Patient feedback regarding the new system has been positive so far.

    It was a Friday, I have a lung condition, and felt I had a chest infection. Didn't think I'd get a gp appointment same day so rang 111. Very soon I had a call from a gp who prescribed antibiotics. The chemist text me that they were ready within a couple of hours. This experience was so reassuring, and all healthcare staff involved were excellent.

    This practice now only accepts a certain number of requests for appointments per day. Doesn't matter if they are urgent or routine. Once their limit is reached that's it. Try again the next day. I have asked how many requests they accept per day but am still waiting for a reply. The requests can only be made via the internet, not by phone. How can they justify limiting the number of requests for appointments per day? Patients are not booking a shopping delivery, they are requiring that their medical needs are met by their chosen GP practice. Thankfully. I do not need an urgent, on-the-day appointment, just a future appointment but I am not allowed to call my surgery to request one.

    We are very sorry that you have not been happy with our new appointments system. Patients can still telephone the practice to request appointments or advice and I apologise if you have been given inaccurate information regarding this aspect of the service. The on-line consultation form is inactivated at some point during the working day (once a high number of contacts have been received), this is to make sure the clinicians can deal with all the on-line requests made and ensure patient safety. However patients can still telephone the practice for help at any time when the on-line form is in-active. We are aware that the system is new, we value your feedback and we will continue to review and improve things where we can.

    I had an appointment for 9:10am. Reception was quiet and I didn't have to wait more than a few minutes before the Doctor appeared and took me to the surgery. The Doctor listened carefully and took a lot of notes. We then discussed treatment. I was impressed with Doctor's caring manner. My problems are complex but I was given time and the proposed treatment was well explained. I felt the service was very good.

    Try and get an appointment by telephone. You get to position 3 in the queue, the Doctor starts to give a messsage, and you get disconnected. This is happening consistently. Also aware of someone who hasn't had their health review for nearly 10 years despite asking for one on several occasions. This is bad. Conditions going undiagnosed that could be dangerous or worse. Ok NHS are under tremendous stress at the moment. But for 9 years? Suggest go to another practice if anyone's looking.

    I have been with Avenue house since 1986! I have always had brilliant and very good professional treatment. The doctors and nurses are still brilliant and I am loath to go anywhere else! However since Covid the appointment system is terrible. I have been very patient in accepting to wait three weeks for a telephone appointment , to be followed up with a later call weeks later which led to a CT scan which I then had to wait for a further call. I am now waiting for a consultant but I’m the meantime as this consultant can’t see me until March or April I need to see a gp and was told first telephone call was one month on but had a face to face in three weeks! I am ringing for cancellations!! Although my problem is, I believe, not an emergency, it has quite an effect on my daily life. I am very saddened to see how Avenue house has become. But I will add again that the Doctors and nurses are excellent !! Please can the appointment system be re looked at.

    Rang to ask for blood test result. kept listening to music for 54 minutes. I started at no 14 in the queue. Eventually reached no 1 and phone ringing for further 10 mins before anyone answered. Not acceptable length of time to have to wait.
