  1. Review titled Nice practice but there’s room for Improvement

Rated 4 stars out of 5

Time management is an issue, appointments often run over 20 minutes behind. With little to no explanation as to why there’s a delay. There are sanctions for patients who are more than 5 mins late this should apply to practitioners.

Dear Anonymous Thank you for your feedback. We are aware of the issue with one of the Dr and with your review, it has helped us to address this with him. He has said he finds it difficult to say NO to patient who come to see him with 3/4 issues with a 10-minute appointment and this over-runs his clinic. He has been made aware to let the reception person know if he is running late so that the patient can be informed of the clinic running late. He has been made aware of the Practice Late Attendance Policy. Please see below; Higham Hill Medical Center Late Attendance Policy Please try and make sure you arrive at a good time for your appointment, taking into account journey times when booking appointments and planning your arrival. We do understand that an occasional delay is unavoidable, and guarantee that patients who arrive within a reasonable time of their appointment will be seen. We pride ourselves on seeing patient quickly and efficiently and, due to this, we have had to put in place this policy. We allow patients to be: Up to 5 minutes late for the doctor’s appointment – the patient will be seen at the end of the clinic at the discretion of the doctor. Over 5 minutes late to the doctor’s appointment –, the patient will be re-booked for the next available appointment; missed appointment will be marked as Did Not Attend (DNA). Over 10 minutes late to the doctor’s appointment – the patient will not be seen and re-booked for another day; missed appointment will be marked as Did Not Attend (DNA). Over 5 minutes late for a nurse's appointment – the patient will not be seen and re-booked for another day; missed appointment will be marked as Did Not Attend (DNA). Late arrivals that lead to DNA cause an appointment to be wasted which could have otherwise been used. It is important that you arrive on time. Please also remember that a patient’s late arrival can have a knock-on effect on the patient’s appointment times, causing the doctors to run late. Please also bear in mind that sometimes, due to some medical emergencies, a doctor’s clinic can run late. When and if this happens, the receptionist will inform you as directed by the doctor. 2. Review titled Very poor service received!

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Yogakumar - Posted on 07 July 2023

I went to my scan appointment this afternoon. The receptionist told me to wait to be called however, I have not been called instead someone else been seen. There was another lady came and knocked on the door and said that she is early for her 3pm appointment. The scanner said that I was late for my appointment even though, I don’t. She asked me to wait until she finish scanning all the 5 patients. She is very rude and told me that she will not scan. I felt very insulted in front of others. I am very disappointed the way I treated at the appointment.

The operator given the appointment is the problem not entirely the Medical Centre. Apart from getting appointment on time, the Doctors are excellent, perfect and easy to talk to

Dear Sir This is not the true version. Yes we did ask for you to wear the mask when you went to see the GP due to, we still have patient walking in with COVID positive infection, and we need to protect the staff, vulnerable patient attending the surgery. However, once you refused and told us that COVID is a conspiracy theory of the government and the NHS killed all the people who died during the pandemic. We said we will ask the GP if they will see you, but you walked out. The GP came out looking for you, and asked the reception to call you back so he can see you, but you refused. An appointment have been arranged with the understanding the GP will see you with PPE. This is to ensure your safety, our staff safety and other patient attending the surgery. Practice Manager

  5. Review titled Some lovely staff

Rated 4 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 22 May 2023

Higham hill medical centre is a good practice overall and I will recommend them according to the service provided. However the manager really needs to speak to the receptionists. Theres 1 receptionist that works there daily who is very very polite and I always hope she picks up my phone, the rest of the receptionist are clueless. One of them has no manners when talking, her tone of voice is always very rude and aggressive. If the manager is able to train receptionist to be polite, this will be not a good but great GP.

Dear Anonymous Thank for your review, your comments have been noted. Our reception staff turn over is very high and I acknowledge all the present reception staff are new. It has become very difficult to retain staff due to the pressure of working on front desk, and we are all always recruiting and training, for then for the staff to leave. I think it is Mareen you are referring to who is working daily and is very polite. Thank for stating this, which we recognise. Please bear with us as we are trying our best to treat our patient as to how we would like to be treated. Kind Regards Practice Manager

  7. Review titled Efficient, friendly practice

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 17 April 2023

I've been registered with Higham Hill Medical centre for a few months now. I've found them helpful and efficient with administrative requests, including polite and knowledgeable reception staff. I've had an in-person appointment with a doctor who listened carefully to my concerns and thorough in addressing them. I've spoken with the practice pharmacist, who was proactive in updating my repeat prescription information. I've had one telephone appointment with a GP who was slightly less helpful, but still dealt with the primary purpose of my appointment. Overall, I've found this to be a well-run practice with (crucially) helpful and competent reception staff.

Been with Higham Hill practice for a while now, phones are answered very quickly, never been longer than 3rd in the queue. Receptionists are very welcoming and easy to talk to, they always try theyre best to fit me in at earliest. Doctors listen and do the most to help with my health. Would definitely recommend this GP in the whole of Walthamstow.

  9. Review titled Worst Practice with unfriendly staff

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 17 April 2023

Every time I have to wait for at least 3 weeks to get an appointment and they don't the courtesy to wait for the patients for 4 mins. I explained to them that it was due to traffic and I was delayed by 4 mins which they denied me from seeing the doctor and asked me to rebook the appointment. On top of that, they marked it as no show for me. It's really frustrating when I'm wasting my time, and my resources just because the staff is too arrogant to let the patient in for 4 mins. Hope there was a process to disincentivize such a center which was continuously causing a bad experience for patients. We take time out of our working day just to see the doctor for which we waited for weeks and gets denied due to stupid reason. I understand doctors are busy so we are. If they don't have the courtesy to wait for 4 mins I don't think they should be allowed to have patients register to them.

I am sorry to hear of your experience at Higham Hill Medical Centre. Our appointment system is set by default that after 5 minutes of late arrival the appointment is marked down as failed to attend. This is only fair for the patients who arrive several minutes in advance before their appointment is scheduled to begin, and also for the healthcare professional seeing you as then their clinic runs on time and patient gets seen on time. Please note there is always an exception to rule. If for any unforeseen circumstances, there has been a delay and then the reception staff will liaise with the GP to ensure the safety of patient is taken into account and you may be asked to wait and be seen at the end of the clinic. We feel your frustration, however please note it is not the reception staff fault and they are following the policy. Please ask for the policy from the reception or it is displayed in the reception. 10. Review titled Disappointed

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Cristina Vintila - Posted on 17 March 2023

This centre is a disaster. They cancel twice my appointments and the third time they didn't communicate that I should to do a covid test, they say if you still have a cough do the test. My cough passed and they didn't want to pass me to the doctor. In the first appointment I told my symptoms, they said ok come today, after 5 minutes call me back and told me go to the emergency. The second time cancel the appointment without any explanation. And other thing, why you request that the pacient wear mask if you don't wear mask. Really disappointed. I will change the GP for me and my family because here is impossible.

We are very sorry for your experience! Your appointment on 20th February 2023 was cancelled due to a COVID positive patient walking in knowing that she was positive and hence infecting the doctor who was then very ill with COVID for over 2 weeks. Your appointment on 2nd March 2023 was cancelled by your-self. Your appointment in Friday 17th March 2023 was booked for face-to-face and you were requested to do a COVID test before attending due to the symptoms you gave at the time of the booking for the appointment. However when you attended for your appointment you had not done the test and the reception asked you to go home and she will ask the GP to call you for a telephone consultation. Which he did three times over the period of the morning and you did not pick up the call. Our policy is that healthcare staff on the premises seeing patient for face-to-face should wear a MASK (GP double mask). We request for all patient to also wear a MASK and if they do not have one we provide, at the reception. The reception staff behind the reception desk do not wear a mask as they are working in protected environment and is testing themselves frequently to ensure they and their colleagues are safe. However, they are also required to wear MASK when they are walking through the building. We wish you all the best. Practice Manager
