Review titled They are a joke
Rated 1 star out of 5
by ANDREW READ - Posted on 02 January 2024
I called the surgery who told me there was no appointments even though I had been on the 111 website who had said it was shingles and I needed antivirals asap so only needed the prescription to get them, the surgery said sorry no appointments call 111 who then told me the same and to call my surgery back which I did who then put me on hold while I waited to speak to the doctor, after waiting 10 minutes the lady then came back and said we can see you sometime tomorrow which is a waste of time as I need to have the medication asap as the advice says online, at this point I’ve given up and is the reason I never bother with the doctor, it seems strange as I’m always getting messages from my surgery asking me to go in for Covid or flu vaccines, is this because they get paid extra if I comply, no wonder our nhs is in a mess if this is how they run the system.

Dear Andrew Read Thank you for providing feedback, I do apologise that you are are unhappy with the service you have received. We have a number of appointments bookable from 8am on the day with our clinical team, unfortunately by the time you had called us all appointments had been taken by other patients. As we had no appointment to offer you until the following day our staff referred you to 111 for further guidance. Whilst I appreciate how frustrating this can be unfortunately we do have to have a limit of how many patients we can see per day to ensure safe working for our clinicians. Appointments for covid and flu vaccines are bookable with our nursing team, for this reason we are able to provide a large amount of appointments so we can invite all eligible patient's. If you would like to discuss further please do not hesitate to contact me via nwicb.highstreetdoctor@nhs.net. Kind regards Sharni Rhodes Operations Manager High Street Surgery

Andrea (nurse) thank you! You made me feel at ease, very friendly and professional . After the procedure she also went that extra mile in taking a look at my burns and bandaged up I really appreciate you doing this extra for me and taking great pride in looking after your patients. You have my highest recommendation. Kind regards Hollie

Review titled Concern
Rated 1 star out of 5

Unfortunately it feels impossible to get an appointment. The telephone wait was over 50 this morning. I did indeed message online but they told me there was no appointments and that I needed to call again on Monday. It is quite concerning, if someone was unable to use online system would they have to wait on the tele cue? Whilst trying to manage other aspects of their daily life. I feel the stress of not being able to get an appointment is going to have long term consequences on peoples health. People are probably going to give up on appointments, feel they have to go to accident and emergency for support. Or just lose the energy to keep trying to get appointments, leading to reduced likelihood to seek help, causing potential symptoms which could be managed and prevented early. I am seeing the consequence of this in secondary care. People not going to their GP practice because they feel they won't be supported. This system of same day booking (of which no guarantee that you will have your symptoms reviewed ) really needs to be reviewed as it is really not working.

Dear Patient Thank you for your feedback, I apologise that you have experienced difficulties obtaining an appointment. Our call queues can be very high at busier periods due to patient demand however we have many of our team answering the phones enabling patients to move through the queue quickly. We recommend that once you are in the queue you hang on the line rather than trying again at another time. Appointments can also be requested via our website at 8am, https://www.highstreetsurgerylowestoft.nhs.uk/ and in person at the surgery. There has been a need to change our booking process due a high amount of clinical time being wasted as patients were not attending appointments. The surgery also provides appointments at other surgeries (subject to availability) on evening and weekends. I hope that your future experiences will be positive. If you would like to discuss your concerns further, please do not hesitate to contact me nwicb.highstreetdoctor@nhs.net. Kind regards Sharni Rhodes Operations Manager High Street Surgery

Review titled poor service

The only way to get an appointment is to go to the surgery at 7.45am. That is to book an appointment for that day, you can't even book a routine appointment say for 2 weeks ahead

Review titled G-d awful

I don't even know where to begin. Staff with little to no reading comprehension. An unusable online form. Unreasonable rules. Insane waiting time on the phone. My advice. Don't get ill if you are at this surgery. I am taking my complaints further. I know the NHS is "struggling" but maybe we need to address why. And it certainly isn't lack of pay!

Review titled My practice, So bound to be good

I normally ring, but have only been seen by underling very rarely by my official doctor so a bit disappointed not doing so. Maybe they spread the load of patients. I have gone many times by bus to John Pageant
