Review titled Bad appointment system
Rated 2 stars out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 04 November 2024
Why can't surgeries return to the pre-covid booking systems which allows people to make an appointment in advance for another day? Making an appointment since 2020 is a hurdle; especially for the type of people who are not keen on seeing Drs or admitting that they need a Dr. which is many men and old people. So basically the rigid appointment system is sexist and ageist as, for many, many people, it adds a further psychological hurdle to making an appointment on top of the one that they already have. How is it right to make a person, sick or in pain, have to set an alarm for 8 am as a reminder and hit dial and end call over and over until they get past the engaged tone and into an hour long queue? Making an appointment to see a Dr should not be so rigid that it becomes a psychological hurdle.

Review titled Missing phone calls
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Andrea Moneta - Posted on 05 April 2024
I booked a phone call with the doctor to review my blood test and had to wait more than one month to have an appointment. The phone call was scheduled at 10.15am and I waited two hours; when I called the surgery they said that the doctor didn't come on that day and that he would have called the following day in the morning without giving an estimate time. The following day, I received a call at 10am but I couldn't answer the phone and when I call back the doctor left a message that I had to book another appointment, which is not available at least for one week. Furthermore, when I asked to print my blood test to see the blood test results, the nurse said that I need to discuss the results with the doctor first, that is something I never did in the last 10 years of routine blood test at the same surgery. At the end of the story, I'm spending hours over the phone to get a doctor, I'm waiting months to have an appointment, the doctor is missing the phone appointment without warning, I miss a phone call and I don't even deserve the possibility to be called again from the doctor (his name cannot be written here unfortunately), so this is how a patient is treated at Greendale Primary Care Centre. I will try to leave asap and find another surgery hoping to have a different experience.

What let's this practice down is the appointment system, why have an telephone system if it dies not work, please listen to the patients, phone calls are going without being answered surely that's not right. Consider those who work or can get to the practice, I was first in the queue in in work heard a short message and the phones rang for one hour then went silent. Please look at the system it very frustrating at present

Thank you for acknowledging our Clinical staff with a positive comment. Sincere apologies for the trouble you've had getting through on the phones. We notify our current phone service provider of any such issues we're made aware of. The surgery is due to have an updated phone system imminently, which should help resolve the issues you have raised.

Review titled Very poor surgery
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Zulki - Posted on 28 February 2023
Whenever you try and call this surgery it takes 2 hrs to get a tone that is not engaged. Once you get through you are in a queue. Today I was in a queue for 70 mins only to be told that there were no apts remaining. When I asked if I could book in advance they told me point blank that they do not do advance bookings. All they could offer was a phone consultation. I explained that 6 months ago they did a phone consultation for my husband - For the same concern and he was still suffering. They could not help. I asked them how many face to face they apts they do because ever since covid they seem to offer no face to face apts - they said (quite proudly) 60%. I asked why don’t they offer advance bookings and they said it was the decision of Ratna Patel the practice manager. So basically they fobbed me off. The system is terrible. One cannot take a morning off work to be told ‘there are no apts’. Surely a better system would be that if there are no face to face apts a message is given to the patient when they call instead of the banal message that repeats ‘you are no 5 in the queue’. The whole system needs to drastically improve.

Dear Zulki, thank you for your feedback. We are aware of the increase in demand for appointments and unfortunately face the same challenges as other practices city-wide. Greendale PCC has just gone through management changes and are currently working through the processes across the practice which are decided upon by management as a 'team', not by an 'individual'. Once settled, we hope to make your experience with the surgery more positive.

Review titled Worst service I’ve ever received from a GP surgery

Phones never get answered. I was first caller on hold for over an hour and still nothing. So either there is no staff to answer phones or they can not be bothered to answer the phones.

Review titled No compassion
Rated 3 stars out of 5

Being referred for a scan on a lump through a third party, to be told I’ve been referred to them when they don’t have the facility to carry my particular referral and they advised the surgery weeks ago!! No contact from the surgery called them up to be told has to be passed back through to the referral team with no time scale for a call back! No compassion or empathy regarding the worry and stress this is causing! Requested a doctor appointment to again discuss my lump to be told call at 8am ….called at 8 am no available appointments.
