Back problems impacting on my ability to work. Left an online message this morning and within two hours I had a message with a link to book a physio appointment at the surgery- I managed to get one for the same week. I didn’t expect that so excellent service in my eyes.

  2. Review titled Getting worse

Rated 1 star out of 5

I followed the online system that they insist upon as my wife was suffering back pain. After 2 days we simply got a message 'if it doesn't improve, phone 111'. What are these people being paid for. This practice needs dissolving and a new one establishing in its place.

Thank you for your feedback. The practice team were concerned to see the comments. The practice team have undertaken an investigation and as discussed in the phone call (that was part of the investigation) the practice team have not been able to find evidence of a text message being sent. In the investigation phone call it was not possible to find a received text message that stated ‘if it doesn’t improve phone 111’. The practice team suspect that the message referred to was the standard message that is created when an online request is submitted. As discussed in the investigation phone call a member of the practice clinical team did ring on the day of the request, but the call was not answered. Following the investigation phone call the clinical call has been re-scheduled with a member of the practice clinical team. Please contact the practice directly if you have any further issues. Regards The Fairfields Team

  3. Review titled Worst appointment system

Rated 1 star out of 5

This appointment system is one of the worst I've ever experienced. I believe this medical practice should be shut down; it's as ineffective as a white elephant on the NHS. For the past two months, I've been experiencing issues with my ears. They referred me to a pharmacist, who advised me to start using olive oil. However, last week, I began experiencing severe ear pain, which has even caused a fever. When I called my GP to book an appointment with a doctor, the receptionist informed me that there were no doctors available and advised me to go to urgent care if it was urgent. This isn't the first time they've done this; whenever I need assistance, they claim there are no doctors available and suggest urgent care.

We are sorry that you have struggled to access a GP appointment. There are several ways to request an appointment at The Fairfields Practice, by phone, in person, or online via the website https://www.fairfieldspractice.nhs.uk/ - contact us online, this then takes you to https://florey.accurx.com/p/C84105 The on-call GP triages all requests for an appointment to the most appropriate appointment or service. The online system opens at 8am each day (Monday – Friday) and is closed to medical requests when we have reached capacity for appointments for that day. When we have reached safe capacity the reception team continues to take any urgent requests for medical help and the GP’s then triage these requests, the reception team signpost non-urgent requests to other services as appropriate. We are sorry that we had reached a safe capacity when you contacted the practice. In common with many GP practices we are struggling with capacity (workforce and funding) to match demand. The Fairfields Practice.

  4. Review titled Systemically poor

Rated 2 stars out of 5

Have tried numerous times to make an appointment online (and finally tried calling) to see the doctor about a non urgent, ongoing condition but it's seems Little Britain's computer 'says no'. It's impossible! All avenues are impenetrable! The docs lowered my dose for my meds a few months ago. I had blood tests to check all was well and I received a txt to say they were within acceptable parameters, no details of the results and No follow up call to check that I was feeling ok from the change. So, I get on with life, but not feeling quite right, and as time goes on I'm increasingly feel the need to speak to the doctor to re-review my meds, but the walls are up. I am at the mercy of the 'fastest finger' first game and woe betide trying to get past the receptionist. You would think that in a modern day practice that firstly as par for the course they would check in with patients to see if any changes made to meds are having an impact and secondly they would have some mechanisms for dealing with non-urgent requests. I don't go to docs often, I try not to be a burden, but this time my experience has been intolerable and so I find myself having to resort to 1. Making this bad review 2. Seriously contemplating changing docs and 3. Thinking about self medicating.

Ridiculous contact system for appointments, website not easily navigated, if you call at 8am and finally get through they just tell you there is nothing left for today, that's it, no asking what the issue is, no advice, just tough luck, thanks for nothing, I will have better luck winning the lottery than getting an appointment, I really feel like I do not matter, and what's the point in even bothering, see a doctor if you are worried about something, good luck with that

I have been attending this practice for a couple years now. From my experience, it has been a good GP. I have always gotten the medication or help that I needed. I am very grateful. The staff are nice and website is easy to use.
