    Never answer the phone first time always on hold for at least 40 mins each time. Finally get through to be told sorry no appointments today and non to pre book. Is that a joke so how are we meant to see the doctor then. I’ve been suffering with peri menopausal symtoms for past year haven’t bothered trying to get into doctors went private and has cost me a fortune which I can no longer afford due to rising cost of living. It’s affecting my work and I can’t even see a doctor , told to call 8am each day it’s ridiculous. I don’t think they realise people work and don’t have time to sit on phone trying to get through at least three times before they even answer and then your told no appointments

    My son has had a lingering virus which I caught. It turned into a full chest infection so I phoned the surgery for an appointment. They were full during the week but directed me to a Saturday appointment at the hospital. From this appointment I got antibiotics and a blood test booked at the surgery within three days. My test results came back 24 hours later and a doctor phoned the same day as the results text to discuss the infection and the best next steps. In the same few days my son deteriorated and they saw him within 45 minutes of phoning (I phoned at 8am and was in the practice with him at 8.45am having him checked) we came out with antibiotics for him. The NHS is under immeasurable pressure and primary care is suffering more than any other part of the system. Although I had to try three times for my first appointment, I was seen and got what I needed. There are fewer GPs than ever and to have a surgery provide this level of service in the current climate is exceptional. We need to stop being angry with GP surgeries and start being angry with those causing the problems.
