  1. Review titled Unable to recommend

Rated 2 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 06 July 2023

Since the merger of my surgery with several others strange GP's are now available for consultation other than the one you may have been consulting from many years and trust implicitly. This is my personal experience and hopefully one that cannot and will not be repeated. I have a long-standing in the switch has been treated for many years by my trusted gp and then one who you have never felt the need to console comes along and countermands nearly all of your trusted gps opinions views and treatment! Quite obviously this has caused me considerable distress and worry which would have been so easily avoided had a been giving the choice to see my regular and trusted GP. The practice used to be one or outstanding excellence and now it is just one of pot look and I have been on the unfortunate end of this. I found so little tact, care or compassion on the other end of the telephone I was left in deep distressed by this and cannot any longer most unfortunately and disappointingly recommend telephone consultations with strange doctors who do not know you or your history which is a tragedy as the surgery was once one of pure excellence and kindness. I am deeply sorry at having to give this review but I find myself in an impossible situation and truly need a second opinion but I fear I may be put through the strange doctor all over again and this is something this surgery needs to address urgently. This situation is one that patients with longstanding illness may find deeply distressing as I do and hopefully the GP's can prevent from happening as this surgery used to be one of absolute excellence where compassion and kindness could be found.

  3. Review titled So happy to be part of this practice

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Adie - Posted on 19 May 2023

Had 2 visits to the practice. One for my very nervous 6 yo and one for myself. I could not be happier about the service we received. It is the first time in recent years that I have not felt I was inconveniencing the nhs by using their services. Short wait- less than 15 mins from appointment time. Immediately put at ease by friendly staff. Even receptionists are friendly, professional, and helpful. This practice reminded me of what it used to be like to visit the gp in years gone by.

  4. Review titled Outstanding in every way.

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Simon Holdsworth - Posted on 21 April 2023

I have been seriously ill and this was spotted by my GP who at once sent me to hospital, had he not done so I wouldn't be here to tell the story. It can be a complicated and frightening thing when very serious illness is suspected and yet you have to wait and wait for test results. Today I spoke to the most helpful and understanding person I could have have possibly wished for who told me exactly what the results of my tests were showing even though the news wasn't very good that kindness shown to me was simply outstanding, wonderful only something I shall never forget. I cannot praise this practice enough and whoever I spoke to, thank you from my heart.

  5. Review titled Excellent Service

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by mr grenville s goodwin - Posted on 11 April 2023

I have had reason to ring twice this year, since being transferred from practice one. First time I was 2nd in phone queue, and I had a doctors tel appointment within 5 hours. 2nd call I was 7th in tel queue and saw a doctor within 2 hours. Thank you. Since then I have several secondary appointments and 2 followup calls to check on my progress. I am very impressed with the service and all the staff, including the reception staff.

  6. Review titled Did their best

Rated 3 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 06 March 2023

I recently consulted a GP with a difficult to treat illness of long-standing. They showed kindness but little capability or understanding of the illness or of my own personal history which goes back a significant number of years. Consequently the advice I was given was not particularly helpful nor was it particularly unhelpful, it was what it was and lead to a feeling of frustration which isn't unusual with this illness. Given the apparent long waiting lists to see specialists in this field and the difficulty the GPS find in treating this illness then the consultation can be more clearly put into perspective. The GP did their best and can't be criticised for that, it's just after all these years I had expected a more specialised answer and knowledgeable help but given the enormous pressure that the GPS are under at this practise I do understand,as must we all, and I am at least most grateful for that no matter how little or how great depending on the circumstances and situation of course. Many thanks for the kindness shown to me which is an incredibly valuable resource we all must nurture and give to each other.

  7. Review titled Goodness help us all

Rated 1 star out of 5

At 9.30 am I joined the phone que to ask or a sick note at which point I was caller 20, it is now 1.40 pm in the afternoon and I have just been advised I am now caller number 1. 4 hours to answer 20 phone calls is a rediculas statistic and one which practices should be monitored or by the Government to assess the word you rarely see which is customer service. I you were thinking of joining this practice, i would suggest looking at all available alternatives before making a decision you may regret.

  8. Review titled Disheartening

Rated 3 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 06 February 2024

I have had an experience that others here seem to have noted as well. Speaking with the GP who I have never heard of and has never heard of me have never heard of and who has never heard of me or studied my history should be worrying but this time I find it was yet again. On a crucial health issue which could impact by entire life the GP was dismissive of my needs and could really have done better listening more closely to what I was having to say rather than his remote and mechanistic way of dealing with people which I guess was his coping mechanism. I am left quite distressed and not knowing really where to turn next with a problem which is progressively worsening and the need of some compassion at least. The majority of the GPs at this practice are excellent and I would have nothing said against them but due to the shortage of GP's I guess you praise your money it takes your choice I suppose is why it's still free at the point of service. It's a shame things had to change like this and as I say at the beginning of my review extremely disheartening not to mention worrying.

  9. Review titled Can’t make an appointment

Rated 2 stars out of 5

by Niki - Posted on 17 March 2023

I struggle with my mental health and can no longer get an appointment under the new system. I can only go out once a day if I go out at all as I have to plan what I am doing, so booking an in the day appointment doesn’t work for me. I rarely make phone calls ( my kids complain I don’t ring them) as I struggle to make calls so can’t book an appointment that way. I have written to my dr asking for help but got no reply. Before the practices merged I could book my next appointment as I left I always attended these. There is no hope to see a dr now lucky I have an appointment with someone from mental health or I would be all alone with no help. My gp was a godsend and our appointments were a lifesaver.

  10. Review titled Pharmacists should not take on the role of GPs.

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 26 January 2023

It was my unfortunate experience and an unusual one for this practice that I found myself directed to a consultation with a pharmacist who seemed to assume that they had the training, knowledge, and vital decision making abilities of a GP. If I require specific, detailed, personal and private medical information from a GP then I absolutely do not expect it to be given to me by a pharmacist under any circumstances. I fully realise that there are a shortage of trained GPS and that practices are having problems finding them to come to Bridlington but the experience as I have described must not be allowed to continue and the situation must be corrected as a matter of urgency for the most obvious of reasons. Perhaps this was an error and a one-off experience, I certainly hope so.
