  1. Review titled Diabetic Care and Reception Contact Very Limited

Rated 2 stars out of 5

by Martin Atkinson - Posted on 29 July 2024

As a diabetic for over 30 years, this weekend my Libre 2 reader and sensors all failed leaving me with no monitoring of my sugar levels. Tried 3 times within an hour to ring the surgery on Monday morning after 9pm, only to be automatically told I was caller number 1 in the queue but still no answer after 10 minutes of waiting each time. As I can not order any more Libre 2 sensors before 13th August, as the online system says, I need this problem rectified as the cost of £110 per order is wasting valuable NHS money when they do not work. I need to re-order sensors today and have the Reader replaced, but as I can not ge through to the surgery I found alternative means when I should not have to do this. I need my online system altering so I can re order the necessary Libre sensors.

  2. Review titled Excellent Care

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 22 December 2023

I an underlying health condition and tested positive for Covid. Despite it being an incredibly busy time of year for all the staff at Irchester Surgery I was helped by kind, caring reception staff who passed my request for additional repeat medication on to the doctor swiftly. After a conversation with the hospital where I am an outpatient, I rang the surgery back to speak to the prescription administrator about a referral for additional Covid treatments. She checked the procedure for the referral, then checked my additional medication needs to make sure I had everything I needed. She was professional and caring. The referral to the Covid team came through within an hour and I was contacted a short time after. Anti viral medication arrived at my door in the afternoon, despite a junior doctor’s strike that was taking place. Because of the swift action of the surgery staff I have avoided potential hospital treatment and admittance. Thank you for your help which has had a hugely positive impact on my health. It’s easy to write a negative review when you are angry and frustrated but people don’t always think to write a positive one when treatment goes well.

  3. Review titled Gp assessment and appointment

Rated 2 stars out of 5

by Miss Bonita E Swales - Posted on 09 November 2023

Developed tonsillitis again and needed a gp appointment. Put on telephone list for call back from my surgery. Had phone call out of hours from gp in another town. Not face to face therefore no actual assessment. Phoned back following week as antibiotics were not working. Had swab day after commenced these. Nobody contacted me for three days after receiving my swab back showing I was in the wrong treatment. Received a text message stating different antibiotics were sent to my pharmacy. On calling receptionist was unable to tell me what was found on the swab and stated that a gp will contact me. Not contacted by gp surgery for four days. Re rang back as still having problems. Developed scarlet fever and then was told what my swab showed. No advice with any of these conditions. Have not been able to get an appointment since. On calling for follow up appointment was given results nearly a week later. Given follow up appointment for end of November nearly threee weeks post my treatment which has not completely worked; which I have requested be a gp however has been put on for telephone again. During this time no clinician has even looked in my throat or carried out a physical assessment really poor I will be trying to call again to get the relevant treatment and referral but won’t hold my breath unfortunately. On a side note can always book in for vaccinations, smear tests and contraception support it’s bizarre those these are with the nurses and no problems with repeat prescriptions. hope this improves as on their website says they are taking on more patients and personally I feel look after the ones you have first and give them the treatment they need just a thought.

  4. Review titled Terrible communication

Rated 1 star out of 5

by John Kelly - Posted on 19 July 2023

I called at 08.00 hrs on Thursday 13/07/2023 wanting to speak to a GP about an ongoing problem and see where I need to go with the problem, referral, steroid etc. I was told someone would call me later but of course they cannot give you a time not even an approximate time. Lo and behold no phone call !! Instead I received a call from the nurse and I told her it was a doctor I needed to speak to because of the reasons outlined earlier. She apologised and said she would speak to the receptionists. Still no phone call and my wife and I have lost count of calls that have not been made. Appalling service and no 'duty of care' as Far as I can see. Seriously thinking of changing surgeries !!

  5. Review titled No call received

Rated 2 stars out of 5

I rang the surgery a couple of wks ago to ask if i could make a telephone appointment or should i ring on the day? Was pleased i could make one in advance but would have to wait 2 weeks for the appointment. It was booked for 23rd december. I asked if i could have some idea of timing as i would likely be visiting relatives & was told although they couldn't guarantee it, it would be around 12pm. Ofcourse this time came & went, no call. I phoned the surgery at 1330pm & there was a recorded message saying they were closed! Rang again after 2pm & was answered, apparently the message was on as they were at lunch. Surely a message stating this would be better! I explained i was waiting for a call & was told i was definitely on the list & could be called anytime up until 630pm. So there i sat visiting my relatives with my phone & notes next to me and you've guessed it, i didnt get the phone call. This is the 3rd time i've had a phone appointment booked & not received it. 3 times!! Not even a courtesy text to say sorry we didn't get to you. Nothing.
