Been with the surgery nearly 3 years now. Watched it fall apart in lockdown and has never managed to return back to a working standard. You ring when the phonelines open at 08:30, click through the automated system as quick as you can only to be told that the phonelines are already full and to try again later. Cue 117 re-dials and 30 minutes later and you finally get into position 10 in the queue. Give it another 5 minutes and you speak to your first human who tells you that all the days slots have gone and you will have to try again the next day, or you can always try 111. Now to give them some credit, when my young daughter needed to see a docter they were great and got her in the same day, up until she turned 2 at which point she joined the masses in the health games scrapping for an appointment. In the last year my family have had reason to seek appointments with the surgery approximately 6 times, achieveing an appointment with the surgery directly twice and through 111 another 3 times, giving up the final time. Of those 6 appointments, 2 were completely inadequate and resulted in hospital admissions for IV antibiotics following a rudimetnary appointment and resulting misdiagnosis over the phone. Another attempt at making an appointment ended up in us taking my 2 year old up to the hospital for emergecy treatment as the practice just turned their back and said they couldn't help us as they had nobody available. For such a large, modern practice, serving such a large community, they seem to have a distinct lack of staff and capacity! It is ridiculous! The NHS asks us to triage the severity of our healthcare issues and then follow the appropriate pathway. But, over the last year, of the 6 times we have tried to use this practice we have ended up having to go to the hospital 50% of the time anyway, purely because this practice is not fit for purpose. If you can register elsewhere then I strongly advise you do, we will be moving practice as soon as we can get in somewhere else.
