Review titled Excellent service
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Julia Clough - Posted on 10 July 2024
First time using the repeat prescription service on my NHS app. Easy to use and a quick and efficient service getting it approved and sent to my desigated pharmacy. Thank you. In fact, fortunately, I have never had to use the GP service much in the past but since being recently diagnosed with type 2 diabetes, I have had nothing but an excellent service. We are all quick to comment when it goes bad in the system but I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of the staff at the practice as your care and compassion has shone through. I know in this current state of the NHS, as I work in this sector too, its hard to keep going but I would like you to know that I appreciate everything you do. Thank you again, Regards Julie

Had an appointment booked for 1.45 arrived early by five minutes waited over half an hour to go into see the doctor who was a not apologetic for my wait either told him my issue he said he would send me a prescription to my local pharmacy next minute he went quiet for about ten minutes then picked up the phone and made a call to someone from what I could gather he couldn’t get on he computer this lasted another five minutes then he hung up and walked out he room can back five or ten minutes later and made another call he was very irate on this call I could hear the lady saying don’t speak to me like that this call lasted about ten minutes then he walked out again at this point so did I straight to reception which was absolutely packed on twitch all his appointments told the receptionist what happened and the doctor even seen me standing there and didn’t even ask me why I left absolutely awful behaviour the receptionist made sure my prescription was done but I need to go back and collect it which I think is unfair but …..

Review titled Difficulty in getting appointments
Rated 2 stars out of 5
by Annette Isherwood - Posted on 01 December 2023
I have been trying to get an appointment with the Diabetic Nurse for over a month. Every time I ring I'm advised to ring back as there are no appointments available. If there is an obvious demand to see a specialised nurse why can't additional appointments times be made available? I've followed the instructions and timescales given to me but by the time I eventually get an appointment my results will have changed and I'll have to restart the process all over again!! I understand times are difficult but why set expectations when the surgery clearly can't provide the service and deadlines that they've set in the first place. Very frustrating.

Review titled Receptionists need to realise they’re not doctors
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 14 August 2023
Rang 158 times from 8am to be told no appointments left, no telephone consultations and no pre bookable appointments (which is the norm for this doctors they’re like getting blood from a stone) the receptionist asks what my problem is I told her I need to change my contraception due to serious side effects (was told by my doctor who knows my health history if I have any of these side effects to come back asap) the receptionist then tells me to go to Superdrug and buy some different pills!! It’s actually laughable they think they can give this advice out without knowing any medical history or any medical knowledge. Then tells me to ring back at 8am tomorrow to inevitably be told no appts again.

Hello, I am sorry to hear that your recent experience with Dinas Lane has not been a positive one. I would like to thank you for taking the time to provide your comments as at Dinas Lane we always welcome feedback, positive or negative, as this helps us to improve the quality of our service. Dinas Lane are continually reviewing our access model looking at ways we can improve our service for our patients. I can assure you that we currently offer a wide range of appointments which include face to face directly bookable, face to face pre bookable, telephone consultations on the day, pre bookable telephone consultations, online consultations, we also offer the appointments with a wide range of clinicians. The reception team will ask you for a brief indication of your problem to enable them to place you with the person best placed to deal with your problem as this may not always be a GP. Whilst we do appreciate patient frustrations, we cannot predict the demand for appointments each day. Our team are working extremely hard each day in an effort to meet the needs of our patient population. With regards to a member of the reception team advising you to purchase alternative medication, can you please contact the practice directly to enable this to be investigated further. Thank you again for taking the time to provide your feedback, this gives us insight to the barriers our patients are facing and an opportunity to improve our service. Kind regards Joe-Anne Moore Practice Manager

Review titled Long wait in queue and dismissive attitude of receptionist
Rated 3 stars out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 08 August 2023
After waiting for over 20 mins in the queuing system - the receptionist was almost dismissive of my requests, including one to actually see my doctor ? I didn't realise the receptionists had studied medicine for 7 years and were clinically trained to make such decisions ?

Good Morning, I am so sorryto hear that your recent experience with Dinas Lane has been a positive one. I would like to thank you for taking the time to provide your comments as at Dinas Lane we always welcome feedback, positive or negative, as this helps us to improve the quality of our service. Whilst we completely understand your frustration at waiting in the queuing system, unfortunately we cannot predict the number of calls into the practice on any given day. With regards to the dismissive attitude you encountered, can you please contact the practice directly to discuss your issue in further detail. Our reception team are not clinically trained however they are asked to request a brief indication of a patients problem to enable them to place them with the clinician best placed to deal with their issue as this is not always a GP. Thank you again for taking the time to provide your feedback and I look forward to hearing from you in the near future hopefully to resolve your concerns, Kind regards Joe-Anne Moore Dinas Lane

Review titled Poor access to support from GP surgery
by Cardn93 - Posted on 12 June 2023
I was advised by other this was one the best surgery to swop to which my whole family did. My husband is end of life service called and talked to a lovely and helpful staff member. As a full time Carer no I was told to call at 8:00 am and was then told there were no spaces. I understand my husband should be treated with respect but as a carer if if I become ill and get worse then they need to fit me in as I care for my terminally ill husband. The priorities make no sense. The receptionist must get frustrated of course but I found them abrupt. They need to listen carefully and be more empathetic when dealing with patients. I was so frustrated as a full time Carer. I don’t have the time to run back and forth to them when my husband needs me. All this does is cause more anxiety in the homes and I actually felt like crying having to talk to the receptionist. We all know the nhs is very stretched but if you not suited to the job leave. I am probably going through the change which I can’t get sorted. I have symptoms of tiredness and am emotional. Trying to care for someone you love and am losing is hard, never mind all my own illness, and adding not getting treated properly. How can I give the best care when I feel totally drained and the GP surgery won't help when you call. This is supposed to be one the best surgeries and the nurses and doctors, when get speak to them, are caring and lovely. Even the pharmacist is lovely on the phone and always helpful but trying to speak to can make you more stressful and emotional. There is no need for it.

Hello, I am sorry to hear that your recent experience with Dinas Lane has not been a positive one. I would like to thank you for taking the time to provide your comments as at Dinas Lane we always welcome feedback, positive or negative, as this helps us to improve the quality of our service. General practice is currently experiencing unprecedented demand and I can assure you we are doing everything we can to ensure we are meeting the needs of our patients. We are continually looking at our access model and looking at ways to improve the experience for our patients, whilst we understand the frustration's this may cause, unfortunately we cannot predict the volume of calls or requests for appointments on any given day, for which we can only apologise. We do offer a range of appointments which include face to face, telephone consultations, and online consultations . Our reception team always ask for a brief indication of the problem to enable them to signpost the patient to the service/clinician that is best suited to deal with their problem as this is not always the GP/ practice. Our team work extremely hard each day, sometimes in difficult circumstances in an effort to improve our patient journey. If you would like to discuss further please do let me know as I am more than happy to speak with you. Kind regards Joe-Anne Moore Practice Manager

Review titled no appointments
Rated 2 stars out of 5

I arrived at 7.50 to stand outside and wait for the practice to open. I stand with 9 other people in front of me because you can never get through on the telephone. The person in front of me made an appointment for themselves and cancelled their sons appointment. I was then told there were no more appointments left, It was 8.07. There were 5 Drs working today and i couldn't get an appointment. I don't understand how that many slots can go so quickly Whenever i have tried to pre book an appointment for a later date ive always been told you have to ring on the day There are only 2 people answering the phone I was told. I've been a member of this practice for 50 years and my parents were before me. This used to be a great practice but trying to get appointments now is a joke
