Review titled Brusque and Unhelpful
Rated 3 stars out of 5

I called to request a repeat prescription for an elderly relative and was sharply told "we don't take those over the phone". I pointed out they had done so several times previously and was told I must be wrong! The pre-recorded message does state that we *can* order online but doesn't say we have to. Either the staff don't know the practice policies or they have changed without the pre-recorded info being updated. Either way, not leaving me with a good impression of this practice.

Review titled Chaotic service
Rated 1 star out of 5

Attended 2 appointments in one day regarding a condition that I was told was concerning. Doctor said we would monitor and return for an appointment a couple of days later. Got a call later that evening telling me I needed to take medication that evening or the next as they were so concerned. Unable to take that evening as the pharmacy the prescription was being sent to was closed. On ringing the pharmacy the next day the ‘urgent’ medication won’t be ready until tomorrow. Was also told reception would ring to book me in an urgent blood test. Got the call today. Can’t get me in for a week for the urgent blood test so given the option to collect the forms to go to Queens for this so I could go today. Just been to collect the forms and the surgery is shut all afternoon for training - this was not advised this morning when I was arranging to collect. So despite this being seen as urgent by the doctor I have no medication and no blood tests. Only time I have had to rely on them in 50 years and have been completely let down. I can’t keep taking time off work to waste my time so not sure what will now happen.

Review titled Appointment Experience

I arrived slightly late for my appointment as I through it was 8:50am and was turned away, for the sake of asking me to wait and have the nurse see me for what is only a few minutes I’ve had to rebook for later in the week. Whereas, I’ve experienced significant delays before and expected to wait?

Thank you for your feedback. We are very sorry that you are not happy with the level of service you have received. We have a Practice policy in place to try and help keep the clinics running to time which unfortunately means patients arriving late will be asked to rebook. We appreciate that sometimes patients may experience delays when waiting for their appointment due to more complex patients taking a little longer than expected. Again, we apologise that you were not happy with this service. If you would like to discuss your concerns further, please contact the Practice and ask to speak to a member of the management team.

Review titled Ridiculous telephone queue
Rated 2 stars out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 25 July 2024
I made a point of calling the practice during "quieter times" (12-2pm) as the recorded message suggests. I called at 13:16 and was told there were 3 people in the queue and my estimated wait time was around 9 minutes. After 20 minutes, there were 2 people in front of me, wait time was around 7 minutes, etc until I was first in the queue. I remained first in the queue until 13:56 when I thought 40 minutes is long enough (my lunch break from work is only 30 minutes), and the next set of appointments opens at 2pm so they will be inundated with calls. I cancelled the call. 40 Minutes during the quieter period!!!!! This is totally unacceptable. Very disappointed.

Thank you for your feedback. We are very sorry that you are not happy with the level of service you have received. We are aware of the difficulties faced with the current phone system and are in the process of having a new system put in place. The new system will allow us to monitor call queues and will also have a call back feature meaning patients will be able to have a call back instead of waiting on hold for a period of time. If you would like to discuss your concerns further, please contact the surgery and ask to speak to a member of the Management team who would be happy to help.

Review titled Poor
Rated 1 star out of 5

I went to the practice this morning 08:40 (18.06.2024) to drop of 2 samples. The Dr e h, I saw yesterday instructed me to provide the samples in a specific way and the receptionist questioned this in a rude, aggressive and unprofessional manner. She is not clinically trained and should not presume what the sample was for. I suggest she has need of training in how to deal with patients

Review titled Saved my life!
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Louise Nehra - Posted on 26 June 2024
A huge thank you to the Doctor for sending me to the hospital! I think he saved my life as I was mis-diagnosed at A and E days earlier and actually had a serious illness. He listened to my concerns and acted accordingly. Fantastic Doctor with great character too!

Review titled Poor time management
Rated 1 star out of 5

Aside from agreeing with the other reviewers that it’s difficult to get an appointment, if/when you do manage to get an appointment, expect to be kept waiting no matter the time of day. This practice is consistently overrunning, and are quite unapologetic about it. Today I was kept waiting 20 minutes for an appointment, that was already rescheduled to a later one, then I was kept waiting a further 15 minutes at reception to book a follow up appointment, meaning I was 30 minutes later to work than I had expected to be. You’re very lucky if you get a doctor who cares (today, I was, but I’m not sure if I’ll be able to see the same doctor again or if he was a locum) - previous experiences have left me feeling fobbed off and hopeless about a chronic condition. Deer Park really needs to do much better for its patients.

We are sorry that your recent experience was not as your expected. Sometimes due to the illness that the patients present with the Doctor needs more time to deal with the problem which can result in the clinics running late. If you would like to discuss this further please contact a member of the management team who would be happy to discuss this further with you.

Review titled Awful experience
Rated 1 star out of 5

Tried to ring in my lunch hour. Despite being told was first in queue and would be 3 mins to answer I had to end call at 23 mins as no answer. This is a regular occurrence. Do they not care? Do they have enough reception staff to answer the calls or are they sacrificing service for other reasons?

Review titled Very disappointed; poor experience.
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 11 December 2023
Following an 6+ week old injury; I have booked an appointment with a doctor. Having described the symptom, the doctor took notes with very little interaction. They observed the inflammation and bruising; without applying pressure to the area and despite describing a pain of 8/10; decided not to pursue with an investigation. I was prescribed strong pain killers and a physio appointment. The appointment lasted 10 minutes and the doctor did not make eye contact. After 2 weeks of taking the pain killers, I attended the prescribed physio appointment. Whilst the doctor did take a closer look and also observed the bruise ans inflammation; they applied pressure around the area but dismissed the source of the pain despite me pointing it out. Within 15 minutes, I was sent home and advised to call for a renewed prescription for pain killers if the pain continued and an email with exercises on an attached document; with no support or demonstrations on how to do the exercise correctly. Overall, I feel like I was not listened to, and dismissed. After 2 consultations, and no improvements to the injury; I can summarise the advise given as taking pain killers for an undefined period of time and nothing was done to understand the source of the pain. Very poor experience.

Queried this to be told had to ring 8am Wednesday!!! Very confusing and extremely annoying booking system, especially when I actually went in person, and was not advised can book upto 4 weeks in advance. we are sorry that you did not receive the service that you expected when you tried to book an appointment. The current system allows appointments to be booked up to 4 weeks ahead and some 2 working days ahead - the pre-bookable appointments are limited according to the number of Doctors working on any particular day - hence on some weeks there are limited slots available - if you have access to on-line you can also see the pre-bookable appointments as well. We are aware of the limitations of our current telephone system and we can confirm that we are due to have a new system installed soon which will hopefully help to resolve some of the problems you have experienced
