Friendly professional nurse. No waiting. But I avoid seeing the doctors because I have not archived any satisfactory information about my case and I do not feel comfortable or safe. I suffer now a a severe insomnia due to stress with my condition and my partner dementia.

Review titled Telephone contact
Rated 4 stars out of 5
by Dave Hughes - Posted on 04 October 2024
I received a phone call yesterday, I was greeted with "no caller i/d" when I picked up my mobile. It turned out that the call was from the surgery in relation to an enquiry I had earlier made at reception though, of course I was not able to know that when I picked up my phone. I really do not find this satisfactory. In a seperate but associated issue, today I received an input from thames valley police indicating scammers are using similar tactics, ie, amongst other things, "no caller i/d", to take advantage of householders. Strangely, something told me that yesterday's call from the surgery was legitimate. However, under normal circumstances, I would not have answered such a call. Is there any way calls from the surgery could be positively identified thus alleviating this problem?

Review titled Great communication and care

When calling regarding my 10 week old daughter being unwell, an appt was arranged within the hour. Communication and guidance was great as was the care and reassurance from the doctor. Very grateful that they fitted us in and didn’t make me feel like I was wasting their time at all. Thank you!

making an appointment is almost impossible. I have a serious health problem that has been ignored for months. Despite letters from specialist clinics, no one wants to refer me for further treatment.

Review titled Impossible to get an appointment
by Anonymous - Posted on 01 May 2024
I eventually managed to book an appointment four weeks ahead which I will have to take time off work to attend. The phone and email processes were very poor with lots of dead ends. I’m glad I don’t have any difficulties with tech or communication or I would have given up.

Review titled Problems with Patient Access
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Stephen Waterman - Posted on 28 March 2024
My recent experience in ordering a repeat prescription via Patient Accees was not good. They appear to have added another layer of security which requires a 6 figure code to be sent to your mobile phone. The problem is that the poor phone reception in Deddington means that the code either comes hours later or not at all. Given Patient Access already has password and other protection it's not obvious why this extra layer should be added. If it's really needed then it should also have a landline verification option. The helpful people at the pharmacy suggested that I use the NHS app instead (or indeed revert to paper and pen!). Luckily the NHS app worked even though it also required a texted security code - but if I've understood correctly then that is needed only on the first occasion and not subsequently. I understand that I'm not the only one to have had this experience but that Deddington Health centre is not able to avoid this text security code unnecessary (in my opinion) layer. However it might be helpful for the Surgery to let Patient Access know that there is a real problem here, and that a land line option should be added to any phone verification step if they really consider it is actually needed.

We are sorry to hear that you are having difficulties with Patient Access, the Pharmacist helped by guiding you towards the NHS App which was a more efficient solution for you. The NHS App is now the most favoured online service app for the majority of our patients and we recently made the decision to advise our patients that the NHS App is the ideal online service app for most patients. We are still able to provide a Patient Access account but this is only when specific criteria are met. You may wish to provide your feedback to Patient Access via their website: https://patient.info/feedback You can also contact NHS Digital via their website should you wish to feedback on the NHS App: https://digital.nhs.uk/about-nhs-digital/contact-us

Review titled Improvement
Rated 4 stars out of 5
by Eamonn - Posted on 19 March 2024
I had a F2F appointment booked, then on the morning before my appointment was due I received a text saying that it would be by phone. I found this very upsetting. Please can this be avoided in future? As an autistic person I also find the music in the reception area stressful to hear, because of sensory overload. Would it be possible to make a reasonable adjustment whereby I could wait in my car outside, then receive a text message when the doctor is ready? Kind regards, Eamonn Lumley

Review titled Immediate response
Rated 4 stars out of 5

In early March I needed to see someone quickly as I suspected I had developed ocular shingles. Phoned the surgery, who took details, triaged the request, and phoned back after about an hour with an appointment for two hours later. I saw a lovely person who prescribed anti-virals and gave me crucial advice. The anti-virals were just within the 72 hour limit and stopped progression of the shingles at my eyelid. This prompt, kindly and immediate response helped me avoid the hazard of damaging my eyesight. Thank you so much for the speedy and sympathetic response.

I have spoken to the same doctor twice over the last few weeks, these were for different health issues but the doctor was so helpful, resolved my issues straight away and prescribed the relevant medications.

Review titled Impossible to get an appointment
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 31 January 2024
I've been trying to get an appointment for 3 days. I've spent over 2 hours in total on hold trying to actually speak to someone, it's impossible. I find myself with no option but to just drive there and try to speak to someone as it will be easier than trying follow their stupid process. Avoid this surgery at all costs.
