Review titled Under par service!
Rated 3 stars out of 5
by Nada - Posted on 11 December 2023
Mum had a chest infection, and was coughing a lot and in pain, she has other ailments not related and these were heightened while sitting in the surgery waiting. She is 81 and in poor health anyway, we were told a two hour wait which I thought was bad but do-able! We had to wait almost 4.5 hours to be seen!! Yes, it was busy, there were lots of sick people there and I was told by the lady on reception twice that my mother had possibly been pushed down the queue due to more urgent emergencies presenting, but could not find my mums name initially and am sure something went wrong somewhere in their system. I thought how ridiculous, there were women with UTIs going ahead of my mum, younger and fitter (I spoke to 2 of them) and they came in after us, how can they assess what is more urgent as and when new people come to the surgery? There did not appear to be many doctors, everything was grinding to a halt, we were on the verge of walking out, I could have stayed but my mum was crying by then and was at the end of her tether, then we were finally called in to be seen, he was a smashing doctor, very caring as he could see mum was stressed. I would not presume to blame him or have a go at him directly but you need to sort out the service especially when extremely busy, don’t fall apart and treat the young and elderly with more respect. The ladies on reception were “cold” in their demeanour and I did not appreciate that, yes their job is difficult, sitting down and speaking to lots of sick people but they should at least have more enthusiasm to change things or help in other ways, it’s not just a job it should be a vocation for all NHS workers.

Review titled Excellent Care Received
Rated 5 stars out of 5

The centre was very clean including the toilets, in fact the cleaner was busy cleaning as I was there. Triage was efficient as were receptionists where I was warned of up to a 4 hour wait to see a Doctor. In fact I was in and out within 2 hours and received excellent care. The Dr I saw was very thorough and listened to what I was saying. I wish everywhere was like this. Excellent job Corby Urgent Care Centre, thank you.

My husband received excellent care at the urgent care centre today. The nurse who saw my husband was efficient, empathetic and extremely professional. My husband was booked to have an X-ray- The radiographer was such a lovely kind caring person. Thank you all of you for your excellent care and for helping to ease my worries and concerns.

Review titled Corby lucky to have this facility
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 06 November 2023
Caring staff and really well organised. Despite being incredibly busy the triarge and treatment process is really well managed, the accessibility of this facility 7 days a week provides an excellent service, the staff are clearly working under a lot of pressure but maintain a caring patient focused service.

Review titled Refused Entry
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 04 September 2023
We visited on 3/9/23 at 7.55pm approx. The doors were locked and there were no members of the public around, however the security guard let us in. The receptionist then told us we were too late as the surgery was closed from 8pm. When I pointed out that it wasn’t yet 8pm, the receptionist told me that the doctor would just send us to a&e. If the surgery is advertised as 8-8, then it should be operational from 8-8.

Review titled Terrible care
Rated 1 star out of 5

I came to the walk in centre on the Saturday evening of the bank holiday. I had terrible ear ache for days which was getting worse. I was seen by a nurse who said there was nothing wrong with me ans sent me home. On Sunday morning. I was in agony and my face had started to swell. So I came back again and was seen by a different nurse who said I had a slight infection and prescribed oral Antibiotics. Later that afternoon the pain worsened and I was out at the shop and talking to my partner , when a passer by overheard and told me they were a Dr and I should go to A& E immediately as the infection was tracking down my neck. Arriving at A&E I was seen and they called ENT to see me - who told me I had a severe ear infection - my ear canal had closed up it was so swollen. They were shocked when I told them I had been the day before and earlier that day to your walk in centre and told nothing was wrong with me. I should have been given Oral Antibiotics and Ear antibiotic drops on the Saturday evening. If your staff are so incompetent not to be able to diagnose an ear infection then I fear for people with serious problems.

I took a friend who does not live locally to the walk in centre at 9.30 am with bronchitis, by 1.30 pm he had been taken by ambulance to Kettering General after being given oxygen, antibiotics an X-ray and treated in the most caring, considerate and professional manner from receptionist to doctor. Thank you.

After 3 1/2 hours waiting I saw the doctor he said they couldn’t do an x Ray as I’d had the pain in my foot for more than a week . Didn’t go to hospital as didn’t want to put pressure on the NHS . Do not waste your time !!!

Review titled Refusal of Treatment
by Distressed and Let down - Posted on 03 March 2023
I developed a dental abscess and struggled via 111 NHS services and emergency dentist to be seen. The abscess was that big I couldn’t open my mouth correctly not only due to infection but due to pain. I travelled to urgent care, where I was greeted kindly via a receptionist who could see the distress I was under. I seen a triage nurse who could also see the distress I was under and they reassured me that if I waited my turn I would be treated with care. After waiting 3 hours I was called into see a nurse who was rather rude. When I tried to explain I couldn’t open my mouth fully when they wanted to examine the inside of my mouth, they told me unless they could examine me they couldn’t treat me. So as I sat in pain I allowed the nurse to look into my mouth. Another nurse came in to collect something from the room and the original nurse I was seeing asked them how to treat this as they're not a dentist. To which the 2nd nurse replied that I should be treated with antibiotics but I would need to get a follow-up appointment with my doctor if need be. The original nurse asked me to leave the room while they went to go and find someone higher up and ask their opinion. I was seen by nobody else for an examination…. The nurse came back to me and said they were refusing to treat me, please can I go over to A&E and get a face drain. I explained I didn’t need a face drain, I needed antibiotics, to which they said they were refusing to supply them and sent me on my way…. I have recently been treated with antibiotics and was told that had I not found treatment things could have been a lot worse than what it was…. Our dental service has been down since Covid and for me to have been refused treatment, even though I was told to be given, is disgusting and I’m glad things didn’t take a turn for the worst.

We are sorry to read you felt your experience was not up to the high standard we set out to provide. We were pleased to read that you were treated with kindness by our reception and triage nurse initially.
