Review titled Poor Communication
Rated 2 stars out of 5
by RWB - Posted on 20 July 2024
Started appointment and consultation process but after having X-rays there was no automatic follow up. Once I’d managed to get another appointment I had to find out the day before the scheduled event, by accident, that it had been bounced a month without any reference to, or contact with, me.

Review titled What was once a great practice is sadly no longer
Rated 2 stars out of 5

My daughter recently saw the nurse for advise, a few different issues but all the seemed to focus on was why she was bleeding, not the fainting or the lack of appetite or the severe tiredness. Last time she saw someone they told her she had an eating disorder, she doesn't as she eats when she feels hungry and as she is slim they seem to just fob her off. They told her that she has plenty of blood so not to worry!! She has been bleeding for 9 weeks solid!!! They just don't seem to want to deal with anything that is too difficult. The surgery is always empty yet wait times are huge, you cannot get an appointment and they would rather diagnose you over the phone than see you. I am not sure what has happened to this practice on the whole but it used to be great but has just fallen by the wayside. I get that all the Dr's and nurses are busy and tired and over worked, I really do, but I feel so let down as a patient and on behalf of my daughter. It would appear that private seems to be the only way to go now.

Today I was seen by the travel nurse at the orchid medical practice. She was so kind and helpful at advising me regarding all the vaccinations I require and administered some whilst I was there. Everything from booking the slot to the actual appointment was so quick, effect and hassle free. I would definitely recommend this practice, staff were all so friendly.

Review titled Awful

Left waiting in reception for 25 minutes to be told the doctor would not do a prescription for my 3 year old who had conjunctivitis. Over the next couple of days it got worse couldn't see a doc we thought he may be allergic to eye drops. Ended up phoning 111 who did mange to get me an appointment to see a doc changed eye drops and told to phone if still worried next day. Was still bad so phoned 15vin queue did econsult told to keep appointment for next day. When we arrived it had been cancelled. When we did eventually get seen the nurse was very concerned and we had to go back next day. Reception staff useless and rude. Very rude to a man, who was clearly having mental health issues, while I was waiting in reception, and basically told him 1st appointment was April and to go home.

Review titled Poor care
Rated 1 star out of 5

I have been having on/off Uti symptoms since the beginning of 2021. Back in 2021, I used to be able to get an appointment, they would culture my urine and I would receive the correct medication. This however doesn't happen anymore. Since 2023, I have had them come back worse than usual. Each time I fill out an e-consult about my symptoms when they open at 7:30. The nurse will never get back to me till around 5:30/6 that evening or the following day. Each time they will send me a prescription for antibiotics without even culturing my urine or putting it in a dipstick. Furthermore, I cannot take tablets and this I have asked to be put on my notes countless times. Each time I am prescribed antibiotics, they send tablets to the pharmacy. As they don’t get back to me till 5:30/6, the prescription isn’t ready till the following afternoon and I then have to get back in touch with a doctor to prescribe me liquid form which takes another working day to get through to the pharmacy. I have UTI almost every month and every time I am prescribed the same antibiotic and I am building a tolerance to it which is why it’s no longer working and coming back stronger each time. I honestly am having to consider moving doctors surgery as the lack of sympathy and care regarding patients wellbeing is poor on another level. If I could afford it, I would go private, as I cannot live my life wondering when the next surge of pain is going to be or how am I going to get better when the doctors won’t even see me.

Review titled Will leave as soon as I can get another doctor
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Mark - Posted on 04 November 2023
Cannot get an appointment!!! Filed out econsult form on a Monday and took ten days to receive a call when I was at work, the. A text saying sorry they missed me for my appointment (this was first contact ) and for me to try again if I still wanted to speak to someone, called and cannot get through. Decided to go through Bupa and got a video call with a GP the same day and a referral to a consultant. When in pain you cannot Wait 10 days to speak to someone it’s terrible service and I will leave the practice as soon as I can. I’ve paid into the NHS all my life and cannot even speak to a doctor

Dear Mark, Thank you for taking the time to review our service. I am sorry to hear that your experience fell below your expectation. Usually, once an eConsult is received, the team will review the contents and 'navigate' the concern to the most appropriate service in the most appropriate timeframe. If a matter is not urgent, an appointment (whether phone call or face to face) will be offered for the next available date. We understand it can be frustrating to wait a while for an appointment. We work very hard to review each patient's medical needs to ensure they are treated by the most suitable clinician/service, which helps to keep GP appointments available within the 2 week time frame the government has recently set. With the volume of patients using NHS GP services across the country, we are not able to compete with the timescales achieved by the private sector. Please can you email us on cmp.reception@nhs.net with your full name, Date of Birth and further details of your experience so we can investigate the matter to see how we could have improved your patient journey? Best regards, Christchurch Medical Practice

Review titled Very poor response to old patient.
Rated 1 star out of 5
by James E Hatton - Posted on 23 October 2023
I have a severe chest infection, breathing difficulties and green sputim. I am normally a very fit man, cycling at least 100 miles weekly. This chest infection has inflicted my health dramatically. I need a GP appointment but negligence this computer system is madness. I certainly don't remember being asked about this new computer system. Very poor patient care and service. May I remind you that you are paid by the NHS to provide an acceptable service to your patients.

Dear James, Thank you for taking the time to review our service. We are sorry to hear that our service fell below your expectation. I can see from your record that you did speak with a receptionist and received an appointment with a GP. I do hope you are feeling better. Dear Janet, Thank you for taking the time to review our service. We are sorry to hear that your experience fell below your expectation. Earlier this year, we communicated the new system to our patients. The government has mandated GP surgeries to introduce new systems to manage demand and patient expectations in light of the increasing pressures on the NHS and healthcare services in the county. By using the new system, we can efficiently identify the needs of all patients and provide the most appropriate service within an appropriate timeframe. This new approach allows GPs to spend more time with patients while utilizing other clinicians who specialize in specific health needs. We do, however, appreciate that this new way of working is not suited to everyone. In these circumstances, patients can call or ask via the Reception desk for an appointment without the need to complete an eConsult. We understand that not everyone may agree with this change in the way General Practice operates. Nevertheless, we remain committed to providing our patients with the quickest and most appropriate medical assistance possible. Best regards, Christchurch Medical Practice.

Review titled Total lack of communication
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 18 July 2023
It would appear there is no way patients are able to speak to anyone only via E consult ! Having put in an E consult some 3/4 weeks ago I am still waiting for a resolution. Referral to hospital incorrectly submitted , I wouldnt have known had I not spoken to the hospital could have been waiting indefinitely for an appointment On contacting the surgery you are not allowed to speak to the doctor : the secretaries; the practise manager , in fact the patients have no redress at all No one appears to be bothered , no one comes back to you Does the practise manager care what is going on ? Clearly no when you read the reviews Such a shame , it used to be a well run surgery

Review titled Dreadful communication

Have cause to have contacted gp several times in last few months. Each time has left me in tears. When you finally reach a gp or nurse they are fine but trying to get some response when you are ill, scared or desperate is completely soul destroying. Once my current problem is solved I will definitely endeavour to change practices.
