Review titled Impossible to see the doctor
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 08 July 2024
I consider myself as a healthy individual in my 50’s but once in a while I need to see the doctor as an emergency. Over the last two years I was not able to book an appointment nor to see the doctor , I don’t even know who is my doctor currently. When calling to make an urgent appointment the answer always , no availability to fit you in today because not enough doctors please call tomorrow or we are short staffed due to personnel training or you need to go to A&E!!. Surely it cannot be permanently the same situation year after year. Every time when I cannot see my GP for one reason or another I have to travel to Urgent Treatment Centre - Lewes Victoria Hospital where I always receive an excellent service . So I ask ,what is the point to have a surgery if I cannot see my GP when required .Why one has to go to A&E when GP can deal with certain urgent medical needs. If that is the permanent status with our GP practices then would it not be better to shut the surgery that cannot perform, open more Urgent Treatment Centres, transfer all patients to UTC from failing GP surgeries along with the funding per weighted patient. This way anyone who needs to see the doctor, can see one on the day .

Dear Patient Thank you for the feedback. I am sorry to hear of your experience with Chapel Street Surgery. Over the last year we have had a number of GPs retire and there is a national issue with recruiting GPs. We are doing everything we can to recruit a GP. To increase our appointment availability we have employed an Advanced Clinical Practitioner, their role enhances and supports the practice and they can assess and prescribe to patients who may of previously had to wait to see a GP. We are currently reviewing and aiming to restructure the way appointments are made and triaged. I hope that this is helpful. Please contact us a the surgery if you wish to discuss further. Your sincerely Ros Clayton Business Manager Chapel Street Surgery

Review titled No doctors??????
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Colleen Parker - Posted on 08 August 2024
Trying to see a doctor is impossible either face to face or through app. Involved in a RTC and unable to get an appointment Constantly no appointments available, always told call back or call 111?????????? Would never recommend this surgery to my worse enemy. Been trying for 2 weeks, appointments available if they are contacted by 111. Absolutely hideous service, currently looking to sign on with another practice 😡😡😡😡

Dear Ms Parker We are sorry that you have experienced difficulties in accessing the surgery and you are unhappy with the service we have provided. We understand how frustrating it can be when appointment availability doesn't meet your needs. Last month we moved to a new clinical system and there was some disruption to our service, however, we are actively working on improving our scheduling system to increase the number of available appointments. Your feedback is valuable in helping us improve, and we appreciate your patience as we work through these challenges. Kind regards Ros Clayton Business Manager Chapel Street Surgery

Review titled Getting an appointment as a disabled person is impossible.
Rated 4 stars out of 5
by Scott Sherwood - Posted on 24 April 2024
Hi. Just tried to book an appointment to see a GP. I have heart failure so I don't wake up until 9am at the earliest. I don't start functioning as a human being until 2pm. I called to make an appointment only to be told I have to call at 8.30am. When I explained my situation, all I got was, after much to and fro-ing with Antony's manager, try calling at 9am! So no 'reasonable adjustments' are to be made for disabled people. Isn't that against the Discrimination Act? So I'll try at 9am tomorrow. What's the bet all the appointments are gone and I get told to call at 8.30am and I explain all this again only to be told...'Call at 9am' when they know the appointments will be gone by then. How do I see my GP if I'm disabled?

Sadly over the last two years the surgery has been poor on answering the phones with long answerphone message which is tedious and not necessary, I have spoken and tried another surgery in Seaford who answered the phone within a few rings , I have found it hard to get an appointment and as an ex cancer patient the delays in referrals are awful, I do not want to be seen by Brighton and it is my right to go to the previous consultants , still no blood tests and still no appointment for diagnosis ,
