Review titled Appointments
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 11 June 2024
This morning on Radio 4 there was a feature on doctors' practices in Telford. There, it isn't unusual to be more than fortieth in the queue waiting for the phone to be answered. Most people said it was impossible to see a doctor. This morning at Captain French I was given an appointment on the day I phoned (second in the queue). The NHS isn't all bad.

Review titled .missed telephone appointment
Rated 3 stars out of 5
by David Wilkinson - Posted on 09 May 2024
I was booked in for a telephone appointment at 15:40. I had to inconvenience my work to accommodate the appointment. I waited until 18:00 and still no call. I went into the practise but not given a real understanding of why the appointment didn't take place. The next available appointment in a months time?

Review titled Unacceptable wait time for appointments with named doctor
Rated 4 stars out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 07 February 2024
I telephoned today on behalf of my husband who is newly out of hospital after 10 week stay. I requested an appointment with a named doctor who knows his history and in fact arranged the test that identified a serious illness. The soonest she could offer an appointment with the named doctor was early April! A two month wait . Even for an unspecified doctor he would have to wait until mid March a wait of 5 weeks. The only solution she could offer was to ring up first thing in the morning to see if they can offer an “urgent appointment “ with whichever doctor is available . No guarantees and certainly not someone who will have any familiarity with my husband’s serious illness. The hospital consultant based in a specialist hospital over 65 miles away was relying on our local GP to be able to assist with this for a patient who is trying to have some comfortable quality time at home.

Review titled Huge waiting times to see GP
Rated 4 stars out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 06 February 2023
I tried to book an appointment before Christmas and again today for separate issues. On both occasions I initially tried to get my “regular “ doctor but the waiting time was in excess of 2 months. Choosing the “ any doctor “ option showed a waiting time of 6 weeks. Even a telephone appt is almost 1 month away. I probably couldn’t describe my symptoms as requiring urgent appointment today but the prospect of waiting a month or more to see someone who doesn’t know me and may only hear my voice is appalling. These waiting times are unacceptable - why is this happening . In the past me an my family have had excellent , knowledgeable care at this practice.

We are sorry about this but we are seeing a huge increase in demand and trying very hard to offer the same service as we used to do. You have probably seen on the news that this is a nationwide problem, and we are doing our best. Please ring me if you wish to discuss further, Linda Farish, Practice Manager

Review titled No service
Rated 2 stars out of 5
by Mede Beata - Posted on 20 February 2023
They should be open from 8.30,but they only taking phone call from 9.30 and when I asked an appointment for my 2 years old!!!! They say it’s no face to face appointment available today. So I rather to take my kids to the hospital as the GP not bother to do them job at all. Also the way how the doctors are dressed nowadays is unacceptable. I’m very disappointed after all.

We open at 8am Mon- Fri for emergency calls and 8.30 (not 9.30) for appointment bookings Mon- Fri. We see urgent patients on the day but there is a limit to capacity and we have to ask patients where appropriate to go to the urgent treatment centre, take a routine appointment or call back the next morning. Please call me to discuss if you wish to discuss. Linda Farish Practice Manager

Review titled Exellent service
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Andy - Posted on 16 February 2023
When I arrived in the Kendal area I became acutely unwell shortly afterwards. Although I wasn't even registered with the practice your medical and admin staff fast tracked my registration and got me the antibiotics I needed that same day. The NHS at its best!
