  1. Review titled Missed appointment text

Rated 4 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 05 September 2024

I received a text today that l missed an appointment in August. I was infact late by 10 minutes because of traffic. The receptionist suggested that l make a new appointment but with a nurse - she is exceptional. I don't need to be told about the cost of missed appointments- l work for the Department of Health and Social Care and have never missed appointments. Might want tell the receptionist not to code incorrectly when a patient is late. Thank you

  2. Review titled Poor service this morning

Rated 2 stars out of 5

by Local resident - Posted on 25 June 2024

I rang reception at 10.00, which was the earliest time that I could this morning. I explained my problem and said that I wasn't sure whether I would be deemed eligible for an appointment or a GP call back. The receptionist said that I should have called at 08.00 as there were no appointments available. She added that the telephone system had changed and that I would have had to book an appointment in order to receive a call back! Didn't understand this at all and said that previously I had avoided ringing the surgery at 08.00 as it was always very busy. I was told that I would have to ring tomorrow at 08.00, to which I said" it doesn't appear as if I have any choice" and she said "No". My problem is a recurring flare-up of an area that is currently inflamed and painful, so hoping it will not get any worse. Before this change in system, patients were offered a GP callback in the afternoon. At least you had a professional medic deciding about your care and not a receptionist. Awful service this morning. I have to add that there are some great receptionists at Burton Croft, just not this one.

  3. Review titled Excellent Practice

Rated 5 stars out of 5

I'm not a regular user of my GP service, but when I have an issue they always excel. Phoned the surgery in the morning and was offered an appointment in the afternoon. Great communication by their text service....asking me to complete my symptoms online so the GP was aware of everything. A reminder sent and also a link to relevant information. I'm impressed. The GP was knowledgeable and professional - an asset to the surgery. Maybe those who moan about not been able to get an appointment should reassess their needs - do they really need to be seen, can it be sorted some other way? I've never been let down by this surgery when medical needs warrant an urgent appointment. Highly recommended - keep up the good work - it's appreciated.

  4. Review titled Poor Booking Service for Appointments

Rated 2 stars out of 5

by Lauren - Posted on 26 February 2023

I recently called the surgery to book an appointment for 2 different issues and was told I could be booked in for a telephone appointment on Sunday - I agreed to this and waited until my appointment time only to receive no phone call. I called the surgery and was able to speak to the receptionist who got someone to call me back. It transpired that I had been booked with a HCA/Nurse when I was needing to be seen by a GP, there were also no notes regarding my symptoms or what my appointment was regarding. The HCA was very apologetic but said I’d now have to wait until Monday and call the surgery to try and be seen as there were no more GP appointments available. I wanted to leave this review because I think it is important that receptionists are taking the time to listen to symptoms and reasons for appointments carefully to stop this from happening! Especially when the option to book online/an e-consultation isn’t available.

  5. Review titled Needs more online services but good GP surgery

Rated 4 stars out of 5

I've not had any issues with this surgery, registered just over a year ago when I moved here, staff are always friendly and flexible with doing phone call appointments where its appropriate. I do wish there was an online booking service as I have had to wait >30 mins in a queue to speak to reception. Other than that - no problems!

  6. Review titled Shockingly poor system for booking appointments

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 04 January 2023

I've been with Burton Croft for over 10 years and recently it has become impossible to get an appointment within a reasonable length of time. You cannot book online. The only way to get an appointment is to ring, and you're usually held in a queue for at least 30 minutes. I was offered a telephone appointment for nearly 2 months time. I was forced to go to another GP who then wrote to Burton Croft. Burton Croft then told me they have a backlog of letters they have to scan before any action is taken, and so nearly 2 weeks on, they still haven't even recognised that they've been contacted by the other GP. Beyond telephone calls, I've been unable to arrange any sort of face-to-face appointment with my doctor.
