Review titled Anxiety trying to get anxiety medication.
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 22 May 2024
So my tablets were organised that I just collect them from Morrisons and they automatically get sent over 2 months at a time. This was sorted by a lovely lady at the surgery some time ago. Last Saturday I went to Morrisons to be told there were no tablets as now they had to be ordered and were no longer automatic. So I then ordered my tablets via the NHS app. Went to collect them on Tuesday, no tablets as my request via the app was declined. Called the surgery at 9 this morning and was told someone would call me back. Nearly 3pm and no call back. Called the surgery and pressed the option for prescriptions. Now been on the phone for nearly an hour and I'm still caller number 3. Feeling really poorly as now haven't had a tablet for days. Very anxious as no clue how I'm going to get this sorted. Don't know what to do to get my tablets? I have had no contact requesting a review so have no understanding why the request was declined?

Review titled Be more compassionate
Rated 2 stars out of 5

I have been with this practice for over 2 years now and even when I have moved house I have stayed there as it was always good. However recently it has been a total nightmare. Calls to reception past the time of booking appointment are taking 15 -20 min for someone to answer the phone. Then you are met with a hostile person who has an attitude that you have interrupted their day. People who call the surgery are dealing with some sort of health issues and it would be amazing for the reception staff to be aware of that and be more helpful. I have set up the call from the doctor regarding my blood test and this was arranged for this morning. I have called the practice at 11.40am as NHS app showed this appointment has been done and I haven't had any missed calls. I was told I'm still on the list and the doctor will call me. I have heard nothing so call the receptionist again at 2.20pm and was told they have tried calling me. Again explained that I had not have any calls I was told quite rudely that I was on the list still and will receive a call. This is simply unacceptable. I understand that things can happen and there might me a delay however please advise your patient about that and at least apologise. I have not heard the word sorry once from any of the reception staff when I have called them. I have chosen to do call appointment as I thought it will be better for everyone. Next time I will opt in face to face and I can't trust that I will be called at the time of the day I was arranged to.

Review titled Urgent action needed
Rated 3 stars out of 5
by Shirley Lewis - Posted on 22 April 2024
I am having significant difficulties with my monthly Repeat Prescriptions requested by Fittleworths my Stoma Pouch suppliers who have been supplying me since 2008. Both my supplier and myself have to keep chasing the surgery for signed approval for my pouches. Worse still, only the Adhesive remover and waste disposal bags gets signed off and not the actual stoma pouches which are the most important items. It is most imperative that I receive these promptly each month. I wish to record this as a formal complaint please and be reassured that future prescription requests will not be delayed. This is extremely stressful for me. Can the person responsible for signing off my Stoma Pouch repeat prescription requests please be advised of the importance of actioning these so that I am not to be left without!! It’s a real dilemma for me! Many thanks.

Review titled Bad GP experience, good administrative experience
Rated 3 stars out of 5

I was incorrectly diagnosed by a doctor working at the Broomfield Medical Centre. This was compounded by the doctors failure to engage with myself as a patient. During the first meeting I suggested what I thought my diagnoses could be and had my opinion dismissed. This resulted in myself having two more GP meetings before getting the scan that led to my successful diagnoses. Despite a large hit to quality of life - being in pain and discomfort and now becoming much more immobile – I received a text from the initial doctor that incorrectly diagnosed me, which I am unable to respond to, informing me I will not be referred for the operation needed and potentially condemning me to long term pain/discomfort and a much reduced quality of life. I am aware that there could be reasons such as wider NHS policy and/or wait times that led me not being referred, however I do not know that as I was not consulted or talked to. I would like to add that the people working the referrals desk were wonderful and the final GP I spoke to, a locum, were approachable, helpful and useful in ensuring I got a successful diagnoses. The division of the phone line into reception and referrals is also a great design in ensuring you as a patient get what you need much faster.

Review titled This appointment was a complete waste of time.
Rated 1 star out of 5

I made 79 phone calls but the line was constantly engaged. My 80th call was a success & I waited in the 'queue.' When my call was answered, I referred to the numerous calls I made & was told this was because there were 15,000 patients registered. The doctorI hoped to see had no availability for 2-3 weeks, so I opted to see another doctor that day. This doctor was already running 20 minutes late and failed to address the additional physical issues and pains I referred to, would not provide the medication I requested (which I believe would have significantly improved my life) and instead, recommended an 'alternative.' I subsequently realised this doctor decided my problems were 'minor.'

I am sorry that you have experienced these issues. If you contact the practice and ask ask to speak to a member of management, they will be able to assist you. During June and July we experienced a large volume of calls which was out of our control like many GP practices. August and September have improved, so if you call up you will get through a lot easier.

Review titled Not a good experience with an Out of hours doctor
Rated 3 stars out of 5

My new born baby was not well so I had an out of hours appointment with a doctor at Broomfield, he did not listen to what I was saying about my newborn baby and rushed through the appointment as quick as he could, I explained my child was not feeding, sleeping for 10 hours plus and not waking, non responsive, hot to touch with freezing cold hands and feet even when wrapped up ect... he said he thinks the baby is fine but if im concerned to call 111 again although I expressed to him I’m really concerned with my baby! Before I left the hospital I said to my child’s father I was not happy with leaving as my baby is definitely unwell and I know something isn’t right. So I called 111 again and they immediately told me to rush to a&e as the symptoms are serious. Within 2 hours my son was admitted to hospital and stayed in hospital for 4 days treated with antibiotics and iv fluid, he contracted a viral infection. The nurses were great on the ward and the pedestrian that admitted him to hospital was amazing, he took one look at my baby and said he’s not right so ran further tests and my baby is now on the mend. Seeing how ill my child was before being admitted I would hate to have known how he would have been if we just went home like the first doctor told us to.
