  1. Review titled No Emergency Appointments even for Under 5s

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 22 May 2023

I called at 8:30 on Monday morning, it took me 15 mins to even get in the call queue, then 1h15 to get to the front. By then all emergency appointments had gone and even though my son had been ill for 2 weeks, he was unable to have an emergency appointment as he did not have a temperature (last year he did not have a temperature but had Hepatitis!), was referred for a pharmacy appointment (for which I need to be available for a call back in 4hrs) and was offered an appointment in 9 days time. I asked to see a doctor to inspect the rash and other symptoms I believe to be StrepA. There are another 20,000 homes being built in the vicinity of the Bridgeview medical practice and no new Gp facilities being built. It is only a matter of time before no one will be able to get any emergency appointments at this clinic

  2. Review titled Named doctor policy is very unhelpful

Rated 1 star out of 5

It is incredibly difficult to get through to the surgery on the phone. The wait time is often more than an hour - even when trying at different times of the day. The switch to only being able to have an appointment with your 'named doctor' is very frustrating and has made the situation much worse. Some doctors are only available a couple of days a week meaning they are continually booked up for weeks at a time. The doctors are great - when you actually get to speak to or see them.

Dear Patient, Thank you for taking the time to leave us a review. We understand that the wait times to get through to the surgery can be frustrating and they are often longer than we would like. To improve this we are introducing a dedicated phone answering hub over the next month and we are hopeful that this means we will see a significant reduction in telephone wait times. Continuity of Care is a new approach to the way we allocate our appointments, please follow the below link to read more information on this Continuity of Care | Bridge View Medical Kind Regards Bridge View Medical

  3. Review titled No right to call itself a doctors surgery.

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Elliot Hall - Posted on 20 March 2023

During a health check recently. The doctor recommended I have a prostate check. I've been having symptoms and decided to book in for my check. It took an hour of being on hold before we could get through. They offered a check at 2.30pm next Monday. I explained I couldn't do that appointment because I am leading a workshop for 20 vulnerable people. I explained I can move any other work and the only time I can't do during the week is on Monday 2-6pm. They said they can't offer me another appointment and i'd have to phone back but my wife can't keep taking an hour off work to phone the doctor and not get an appointment. We both asked for a phone appointment, the receptionist said you have to see your specific G.P. she said there were no appointments available. I said but if it's my prostate could I see another GP? She said it's our new system where you can see the same GP to establish a relationship, I tried to explain I can't establish a relationship without an appointment! I thought it impossible for Bridge View to make the system they had any worse but they've done it. I suffer from serious mental illness (schizophrenia) and am worried I may have early symptoms of prostate cancer. Bridge View Medical has no right to call itself a doctors surgery.

  4. Review titled Total waste of time

Rated 2 stars out of 5

My son tried for almost 2 hours to get through on the phone to try and make an appointment but was repeatedly cut off. Eventually he did get through and speak to someone who could only offer 1 appointment today at a time he was unable to make. Suggested ringing again tomorrow but he is unable to hang on the phone for hours whilst at work. E consult stupidly only works at certain times. Why on earth you can't make an appointment in advance I don't know. Completely broken system which will just lead to more people turning up at A&E in desperation. Sort it out.

Thank you for raising your concerns. We will investigate the issue you mention with our phone system cutting calls off. We are sorry that your Son has found difficulty in finding an accommodatable appointment. We are maximising the ask of our clinical Staff in regard to the numbers of appointments being offered and will continue to tirelessly recruit more GPs to further increase our appointment provision.

  5. Review titled Can't get through

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 17 October 2022

It is impossible to get through to reception. I have been disconnected twice today, just listening to the hold music now in my third attempt to get my toddler seen by a Dr. The first call, I was on hold for 1hr and 7 min before someone picked up and we were immediately disconnected, the second call I was on hold for 1hr and 12min before the same thing happened. This is horrendous, especially for anyone with a child. He didn't need urgent care 2 hrs ago, but he may need it by the time we finally get through.

  6. Review titled Poor communication policy

Rated 2 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 14 September 2022

When being given an appointment to see a GP over the phone, I asked for the doctor's first name, to which the reply was "We are not allowed to disclose the doctor's first name." I then asked if the doctor was a man or a woman and was told it was a man and asked if that was OK. I said it was OK but am left feeling very upset about this very old fashioned policy and barrier to good communication. In the interest of effective communication, I would ask the doctor to call me by my first name and would expect this to be reciprocal in this day and age.
