Review titled Needs independent investigation and serious change
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 09 March 2023
Where to even start, birtley doctors is a failure to birtley and its residents. Having to ring up to -100 times a day to get an appointment to be told there’s none even when there is, but they can’t book you one at all is a joke. Old and young people are being turned away from help daily. Phone staff arrogant and rude and the doctors aren’t much better. How it’s still going is beyond me. Needs serious attention by independent review and contracts revoked

Review titled Poor service , unprofessional staff and manager
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 23 December 2022
Tried timing for appointment was to to do an e -consult . Following on I rang for 3hours trying to get to speak to someone , finally 88 try’s later I am able to get a ringing line which was answered by a receptionist who was curt rude and unhelpful , i passed my comments in to the manager who totally dismissed my concerns the lack of help , poor service and frustration of trying to access a service but stated she would listen to the call , no apology was offered for this rubbish service we are funding , some not all of the receptionists need to be more pleasant and not make patients feel like they are an inconvience and need to stop acting like they are the doctors not reception staff ,?

Review titled Blank.... response?
Rated 2 stars out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 20 October 2022
I have called today to make an appointment after being told previously you have to ring on the day for appointments only and they are not given out In advance I have called firstly at 8am this morning having eventually got through the automated and placed on a waiting list ... 55 minutes later I'm still waiting to speak to someone to make an appointment.. this has been repeated 4 times today with the same response no answer, still on automated totalling several hours and I still cannot get through to make an appointment... I gave up at 3pm.. frustrated as you can imagine..... needless to say I cannot get into the surgery to see a doctor? I work full time with unsociable hours and have limited time to see a doctor, I'm flabbergasted this is unacceptable and I will be changing my surgery immediately I'm just pleased it isn't a medical emergency, or it could be but I wouldn't know as I cannot get through to see a doctor.... unbelievable

Review titled Refusal of repeat meds
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 06 October 2022
Refused repeat meds as I need a 'review'. I don't. The arrangement with the doctor was to have a blood test in three weeks time. A blood test now would be premature. The 'review' relates to other meds not those refused. No evidence of joined up thinking or even careful note-taking. I know what's going on. Do you?

Review titled A very poorly managed doctor's surgery
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 20 December 2022
I tried to get an appointment over a period of 5 months, without success. I spent hours on hold only to be told there were no appointments. Only on the day appointments were being offered, so I was left with no choice but to ring up each day and be on hold. I spoke to the receptionist who told me to physically go to the surgery at 7am and see if I could get an appointment which was not an option for me as I have a child to get to school. I wrote to the Practice Manager on several occasions who also did not help. There was no compassion or caring shown from any of the people I spoke to. I moved doctors and got an appointment immediately which just proves it can be done! A very poorly managed doctor's surgery!

Review titled Tremendous team support
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Dave Anderson - Posted on 10 October 2022
Following an emergency bowel operation I have been in constant contact with the district nurses from Bensham and the team at Birtley Medical Group. They have all delivered a tremendous level of service. This followed 2 weeks of exemplary care in the QE hospital at Gateshead. Thanks to you all

Hi Dave, Thank you for your kind comments. All staff in the departments you have mentioned work extremely hard to give the best care to patients. Thank you again!
