Review titled Caring and efficient
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Catherine Bew - Posted on 22 October 2024
I saw Dr. B yesterday as I was worried about a health issue. However, he put me at ease by his kind, caring, reassuring and patient manner. Just wanted to say how much I appreciated his dedication to doing his best for me during my appoint. Thank you.

Review titled Not fit for Purpose
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Fed Up - Posted on 04 October 2024
Yet again Birchington Medical Centre has failed. My husband requested a repeat prescription via Patient Access as usual. After the10th working day (this Friday) nothing had been received at the pharmacy. After checking Patient Access the request had been refused! This medication has been a repeat for some years and is life saving. No notification was received that it had been refused. On visiting Surgery's reception he was told that the prescription team were new?? So what. An urgent prescription is to be sent this Friday afternoon - the pharmacy is closed on Saturdays and my husband will be out of tablets Sunday evening. The pharmacy, as usual, has been helpful and is to chase the surgery Friday afternoon, so let's hope my husband gets his medication Monday. He is also waiting for the results and way forward following a scan 2 weeks ago. The results were sent to the Surgery immediately after the scan. He was informed by a receptionist this Friday exactly 2 weeks later that they had recieved the results but "they are busy and to ring back at midday to get an appointment to see a Doctor next week" he rang at midday all appointments were gone and when trying to get through to a receptionist was number 28 in the queue. He never got through. So the NHS have paid £120 for a scan and my husband is still waiting for the results 2 weeks later. What is going to happen when 1600 houses and approximtely 3200 additional people arrive in Birchington?

Review titled Thanks to the Receptionists
Rated 4 stars out of 5

A diamond is one of the Receptionists at Birchington medical centre and I had the pleasure of meeting her again today to discuss my proposed Angiogram. I have found her very professional and knows how to deal with things in the right way to my satisfaction and feeling of reassurance. All the receptionists have been nice to deal with over the years and I thank them all.

Review titled Great GP/patient & associated services
Rated 5 stars out of 5

I visited Birchington Medical Centre and was very impressed with the booking/triage process and the service. I called on the dot of 8am and was already no.18 in queue, but the ‘hold your place in queue’ option enabled me to get on with my morning. They had called back within 20 minutes and triaged me for an appointment that day. I saw the lovely Dr O (the system won’t let me include his name) from Bedford. He was attentive, thorough and friendly yet professional. He recommended several tests which the team followed through on. I felt my concerns were heard and acted upon, so thanks for that. A special shout out for the admin team who followed up on tests I’d forgotten to mention at reception, and to reception for being friendly and helpful. And also to the nurse team who undertook the testing. So, credit where credit’s due. Thanks for all your help.🙏

Review titled Excellent follow up on medical results
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Lynda Chalkley - Posted on 20 March 2024
I wish to commend Birchington Medical Centre. I received a call concerning my medical positioning after tests had been conducted. I was provided with an informed breakdown of my blood pressure, kidney and liver functions and a way forward to lower my blood pressure. Thank you Birchington Medical Centre.

The ladies were very nice but I am afraid it was a waste of their time as I had been booked in too early for my second shingles jab so will return at later date.

Being seen by an actual trained and qualified doctor. Not a nurse or paramedic...hence a quick and accurate diagnosis and treatment...

Friendly helpful receptionist, really professional GP who listened to my concerns and advised me on appropriate treatments and tests that needed to be done, I am extremely impressed how quickly it was dealt with.
